Our father is 89 and has been very well looked after by Gracewell of Ascot.
He has a lovely room, attentive staff and enjoys the activities the home organises for its residents.
During these strange times, the home staff have kept us in touch and been extremely professional.
We would highly recommend
this home.

My step mum was a resident of Gracewell of Ascot from August to December 2020 until she sadly passed away of Parkinson's Dementia last week.
The staff have been amazing and so caring and whilst I was unable to visit due to COVID19, my Dad was extremely happy with the level of care provided and the
kindness and thoughtfulness of all the staff and also the cleanliness of the home. They went above and beyond for my step mum and also provided my Dad with great support when he was going through such a difficult time. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home.
Reply from Raina Jordan, General Manager at Signature at AscotFirstly, please accept our sincere condolences for your recent loss and thank you for taking the time to share your experience of Gracewell of Ascot – particularly at such a difficult time. The team here are so grateful that your step mum had such a positive experience of the home and this extended to family members and friends.

Mum has been a resident at Gracewell for two years and loves living there. The staff are kind and friendly and she feels safe and cared for. The rooms are all light and bright and pre Covid, a stimulating programme of entertainment was provided with many outside entertainers visiting the home.

The care home is beautifully maintained, and all staff are friendly and approachable. This has been a very challenging time for care home during this pandemic, and everyone at Gracewell has gone above and beyond duty to ensure the well being of the residents and staff both physically and emotionally.

Sadly, my lovely wife has Parkinson's, Dementia and problems with mobility. She now needs 24-hour nursing care. Even with the kind help of my daughter, we were exhausted and no longer able to adequately care for her at home. The only comfort I now have in this terrible year is knowing that my wife is
being well cared for in Gracewell of Ascot which is a first class, nearly new care home with excellent dementia care. All of the staff that I have met are most kind and caring. Gracewell also has good regular residents' support from their local GP. The Covid19 precautions seem very thorough and although this limits visiting, at least face time is available for keeping in touch.
Reply from Raina Jordan, General Manager at Signature at AscotThank you for leaving us such a wonderful review, our team members will be thrilled to hear your positive feedback. Here at Gracewell of Ascot, we pride ourselves on understanding our resident's needs to respect their independence and give a real sense of being at home.

Mum was living at home 180 miles away when it became clear she needed 24 hour care. The choice was increasing her local carers to 24hr live-in care or transferring her into a care home. This decision was made against a backdrop of the COVID pandemic - both solutions had risks involved. We had received
a personal recommendation regarding Gracewell though, at this time, it was impossible for us to visit the home. Gracewell were very helpful and advised that they wouldn’t take new admissions until all staff/residents had been tested and there would be a 14 day quarantine period on admission. This was very reassuring. After testing was completed, Mum moved into the home and completed the quarantine period. She is now settling in nicely and starting to enjoy the facilities and to participate in all the activities. Since admission we have been impressed with the clear focus on resident/staff safety and have had regular updates regarding COVID procedures. We have been very happy with our decision.

Was welcomed as if I was already a permanent resident. I was made very welcome. They took care of everything. I did not know about the home and they made me feel very welcome. They were happy to allow me to bring some of the furniture and have pictures on my wall. I am very happy here. They find lots
to entertain.

The last thing any of us want to do it to entrust others to take over caring for a beloved parent, grandmother and great-grandmother. The reassurances we were given before Mum became a resident went a long way in easing our minds and were proved to be all true. Mum is now in a safe, loving environment
staffed by attentive carers. She is encouraged to join in activities, but can have quiet time in her room is she likes. Mum is very keen on the meals, these form an important part of her day. She looks better in herself than she had done for a long time. She likes to sit near the staff desk and see all the people who come and go, having a little chat with them.

It’s obviously a very difficult decision to place a loved one in a care home, but the team at Gracewell have supported my family through this transition. We’re really pleased with the care my mother-in-law is receiving, and she has settled in and is enjoying her routine. Have appreciated the extra efforts
to communicate with families during the pandemic. I don’t normally write reviews but this service deserves one!

I am very pleased with the care my mother is receiving, particularly during Covid-19 restrictions. I am unable to visit her, but the staff ensure that I can speak to her whenever I phone. I am impressed that all the residents have been tested and I have been kept informed. Gracewell arranged a 'drive-through'
so families could see relatives at a social distance. They deserve the positive media coverage it received.

The home provides regular entertainment with all sorts of activities, the residents seem to be happy and enjoy themselves very much. Important days of the year are celebrated with bunting,

My mother has dementia and moved to Gracewell of Ascot in early 2019 and settled in quickly, became more active, talkative and healthier in her face and less anxious. The staff are always very friendly, courteous, helpful and resident focused with regards Mum’s well-being. The staff encourage Mum to
attend events which she enjoys rather than just being left to idly sit/lie in her room. Mum is being well looked after by the care/nursing teams and her quality of life has significantly improved. The rooms, like the home itself are kept clean and the food is delicious (having had a few lunches with Mum). The care plan is thorough and any queries are actioned quickly with detailed updates on what Mum has been doing. In the Coronavirus pandemic, Gracewell have locked down the care home and arranged Facetime bookings with Mum which are very reassuring. Overall, I am very pleased with Gracewell and the effect on Mum’s quality of life and would definitely recommend Gracewell of Ascot.

My mother and father were in another care home and we moved them both to Gracewell of Ascot in June 2019 in adjoining rooms. My dad became very ill a few months later and the staff at Ascot were absolutely amazing, both with him and with us as a family during the period before his death. Mum received
excellent support from the carers during this time. The staff are fantastic and the level of care high - I have recommended it to others.
Management has just changed - I am sure the new manager will be just as good as the previous but have rated it Good as opposed to Excellent for that reason.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.848)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.848) out of 10 for Signature at Ascot is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 47 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 47 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.848 for Signature at Ascot is calculated as follows: ( (479 Excellents x 5) + (67 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 554 Ratings = 4.848
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Signature at Ascot is based on 47 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 47 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

My role is to help residents and their loved ones from their very first enquiry through to moving into our home. It can sometimes be a very difficult and emotional time with a huge transition for everyone involved. It gives me real pleasure to take people on a tour of our home and then see them settle in, make new friends and join in with activities that they were no longer able to do before coming here. I love seeing the smiles on the faces of residents' loved ones when they come to visit, knowing that they made the right decision to choose Signature. It's such a rewarding job!
