Mum was looked after so well during temporary respite care that she decided to stay. A very independent person, she needed some care after a prolonged time in hospital. The people at Queen's Manor give the utmost level of care and friendliness to all, residents and family. It makes such a difference and is very reassuring that mum will be looked after as needed yet still able to do what suits her. Facilities are of the level of a (very) good hotel, the food is great too. Very quiet, nice gardens to wander around, handy for Edinburgh centre when needed, and hospital trips accompanied by staff if requested. Fun days out happen regularly for those who wish to go and fitness and other classes at QM are regularly on the agenda. If and when the day comes, I think we'd all be happy to move in!
positive experiences and recognise the hard work our teams do. Our
ultimate focus is caring for our residents and making sure they have all the
opportunities to lead an enriched life with us here. We'll make sure...
My mother moved here six months ago and our initial positive feelings about Queen's Manor have only strengthened since then. She seems so comfortable and content, has made good friends and tells us frequently how kind and caring the staff are. She is encouraged to join in many of the activities and seems to thoroughly enjoy them. As a family we can certainly vouch for the fact that she is being extremely well looked after and I am now able to relax and entrust her to Q M's care. My twice weekly visits to see her or take her out are a joy, enhanced by engaging with her new friends and the wonderful members of staff. The staff are exceptional and no matter what their actual job they are always happy to help.
The Team will be really delighted to hear how you feel: thank you indeed for your lovely comments and we are all very heartened to know that you and your Mother feel so well supported. We strive to do our best for everyone, and we're very lucky to work with such an exceptional team and our fabulous residents. Every day is a new day and is filled with fun and fulfillment!
There have been some demanding periods too as mum's dementia progressed. However, all the staff have managed these times and helped her through them with knowledge, professionalism, patience and understanding, giving her companionship and maintaining her sense of well-being and humour. This has kept us reassured, knowing that she was with people that we trusted and genuinely cared for her.
Inside this beautiful home is a team of exceptional people with a deep sense of care, friendship and professionalism. They have all been so kind and supportive to mum and ourselves in their own special ways throughout her stay, particularly those work who work in memory lane who are incredible.
Thank you for your lovely warm and kind review - the Team will be delighted to read this and to know how you feel regarding your Mum's care and how well you were supported. We all strive to provide the best possible experience for all residents, families and friends, and we so appreciate your...
I was treated very well. The staff were so helpfull. I was in for respite and I will go back at a later date.
Thank you for your positive comments, which will be shared with the Team - and we look forward to welcoming you back to Queens Manor! Its always heartening to know that a Resident has had a positive experience and is coming back to stay with us once more.
What a relief knowing my aunt is well cared for and happy. A beautiful home with really lovely staff who clearly love their jobs. The food is delicious and the range of events is great. Highly recommend!!!
Thank you indeed for your kind and positive review - your comments will be shared with the Team, who will all be thrilled to receive such lovely feedback. Every single person here works hard to support residents and families in every way possible, and to read and to know that this is recognised is heart warming.
Overall Queens Manor - and the team there - have given me tremendous peace of mind when it comes to my mother's wellness.
Thank you very much for your positive feedback! The entire Team works hard to ensure all Residents receive the best possible service: its good to know that relatives are reassured and may be confident in the care provided.
From the moment she moved in she was made to feel safe and cared for.
She had a lovely bright room with a patio and was close to the dining room and cafe area.
She entered into lots of the activities on offer and went on outings with the other residents - she especially loved her keep fit session every week.
Her health deteriorated towards the end of 2025 - the staff continued to make sure she was very well looked after in her home surroundings.
She had a massive stroke which sadly proved to be terminal - she was able to stay in her own bed until the end and be cared for by staff she knew, with support from the on call GP and Marie Curie Nurses, who provided end of life care with compassion and dignity, rather than being taken to hospital.
I would highly recommend this care home
Thank you for your review. We value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. Thank you also for your positive comments regarding our home and team, who work hard to deliver high standards of quality care at all times. I will pass on your feedback to the team.
My mum moved into Queens Manor a year ago. The genuine care and professionalism of every single one the staff has been amazing. Mum has made genuine friendships, she's encouraged to participate in all sorts of activities but her privacy and wishes are respected at all times. Can't recommend highly enough.
Many thanks for your positive review - we so appreciate this, as the whole team is committed to the delivery of a first class service for all of our residents.
Her room benefits from the modern full length windows and she has access from her room on to the patio and into the well situated and secure garden.
She is able to join in with the extensive social activities as she wishes.
We have gotten to know the staff who support mum and have full confidence in the care provided.
Margaret, the manager, is visible, approachable and has a "can do" attitude.
We so appreciate your positive feedback and the Team will be delighted with your review. We all work hard to provide a first class experience for our Residents - thank you!
Our mum was one of Queens Manor's very first residents and she has always trusted and appreciated the care, humour and kindness of the staff who are very dedicated and knowledgeable. My sister and I have always been made to feel very welcome when visiting and the atmosphere is always cheerful and full of purpose. In particular there is a feeling of mum's care being very genuine and professional, with everything being attended to promptly and us kept in the loop at all times.
Oh thank you for your lovely review! The Team will really appreciate such positive and thoughtful feedback: as you know, everyone works hard to deliver the best care possible for residents, and it's very gratifying to be assured by relatives that they too feel welcome and well supported.
All staff very friendly, professional and caring.
Nice relaxed atmosphere and nothing is a problem to staff.
Thank you for taking the time to give us your kind and positive feedback, which will be shared with the Team, who all work hard to provide a top quality service for our residents. We truly appreciate all feedback!
A lovely care home with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. All members of staff are extremely caring and approachable and my mum is treated with respect and dignity at all times. Her health has improved greatly in the time she has been there and she is happy and safe which is a comfort to our family.
Thank you for your lovely feedback - this means a lot to our Team who take great pride and delight in caring for all of our residents.
I am a retired OT with over 30yrs experience & have high expectations of care needs for our clients. My mother has been awaiting a POC for 4 months then had a fall requiring hospital admission then the assessment identified she required 24hr care. I have found this very difficult especially as mum has been unhappy with me & wants to be independent. I know that a POC & I cannot meet my mum's needs but the care home team can & provide a level of support, care & socialisation that is enabling mum to regain her confidence, sense of self & flourish. The team have been amazing with mum & her face lights up when she sees any of them, they have been so supportive of me & listened when I'm struggling.
We so appreciate your comments: thank you for your very positive review, which will be shared with the team, who work hard throughout
I was extremely well looked after, with great respect and dignity, this was more like a five star hotel for which I am eternally greatful. All the staff were super.
Thank you very much for your kind and positive review - the Team will really appreciate this feedback as everyone works hard to deliver the 5 star service you have experienced!! We hope you will continue to visit us and look forward to seeing you
My friend is in this care home and it is amazing. It fills all her needs, personal care, medication, helping her get dressed, she gets her nails done, her hair done, podiatrist, the food is like a 5 star hotel, there are activities every day, trips out to lovely gardens, coffee shops and place of interest. The staff are excellent, very keen to help with anything that is required. I would highly recommend Barchester Queens Manor Care Home.
Thank you for your kind and positive review - your comments will be shared with the Team! Everyone works hard to deliver a 5* experience and we truly appreciate your feedback.
Staff are outstandingly kind and helpful - not just with my mother but all the family too. They were particularly helpful during a difficult transition period for my mother. During a recent visit from an overseas relative and new great grandson they put together a delicious tea so my mother could entertain the family in one of their private living rooms - my mother very happy to be able to host the family in this way. Would highly recommend.
Sincere thanks from the Queens Manor Team for your kind and positive review. Everyone works hard to support residents and their families and to deliver the best possible standards of care. Your comments will be shared with all colleagues, and are greatly appreciated.
Queens manor is a beautiful home with 5 star facilities. The food is good with amazing attention to detail from the chef and his team to the provision of mum's special diet. The care, compassion and friendliness of the staff made mum's respite stay a positive experience
Many thanks for your kind and lovely comments which I will pass on to the team. Everyone works hard to provide the best possible standards of care and we really appreciate your feedback
The Queens Manor showed an exceptional level of empathy and dedication during my aunts stay. Everyone was kind, responsive and gentle. My aunts dignity was at the forefront. I wholeheartedly recommend this care home and would not have wanted to be anywhere else at this difficult time. Thank you for everything!
Thank you for your review. We value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service. Your comments will be passed on to the Team: everyone works hard to deliver high standards of care and support and we are always delighted to receive such kind and positive feedback.
The admin assistant, in particular, was a breath of fresh air when we needed help most and she has continued to be a positive influence for Mum and all of her visitors.
Thank you for your review. We value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. Thank you also for your positive comments regarding our home and team who work hard to deliver high standards of quality care at all times. I will pass your feedback to the team.
The home is not too big, and there doesn't appear to be a high turnover of staff, so residents have the time to form meaningful relationships with individual members of staff.
Time and care are given to residents' individual needs and wants. My mum has been encouraged to bring things from her family home to make her new room her own. When my mum had a tumble, appropriate care and due thought were given before contacting emergency services. Despite the mess she left behind, her room was spotless when she got back there the next day.
Mum's been there for almost 6 months, and there's been no real issues at all during that time.
Thank you for your review. We value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. Thank you also for your positive comments regarding our home and team, who work hard to deliver high standards of quality care at all times. I will pass on your feedback to the team.

Meet the Team (11)

Hello, my name is Margaret, and I have been proud to work in the care sector for over 40 years. I joined Barchester in February 2024, bringing with me extensive experience as a care home manager in a private nursing home, where I supported older people living with dementia and a wide range of physical and mental health needs.
I am deeply passionate about ensuring that every resident receives the highest standard of care and is able to lead a happy, fulfilled life.
I look forward to welcoming you to our home and sharing with you the warm, supportive environment we have created together.

Hi, my name is Coral, and I am Deputy General Manager here at Queens Manor.
I began working with Barchester when Queens Manor first opened after I moved up to Edinburgh from Swindon. I started working in care as helping others and making a difference gives me purpose and drive and I continuously strive to improve my skill set every day so that the residents receive the best possible care and so that I can lead the team well – After being promoted to Head of Unit and now after a very successful interview period, I have now been promoted to Deputy General Manager and I am super excited for the future here at Queens Manor.
I love getting to know the residents, their families, and I love the partnerships I’ve made with my colleagues and the wonderful team here.

Hi, my name is Hayley, and I am the Administrator here at Queens Manor.
I have experience working in the care sector since 2006, both clinically and administratively; this has given me a great insight into the needs and desires of people moving into a care community. I started working at Queens Manor in 2018 as the home administrator and worked together with the concierges to ensure the smooth running of the home.
I love that I can work in a job I enjoy with a great team, and I feel privileged to be part of this flagship home.

Hello, my name is Mary Jane. I have been proudly part of the Queens Manor family for over a year and now have the pleasure of leading our Activities and Lifestyle team.
I’ve worked in the care sector for over five years, gaining experience across different roles before finding my passion in creating meaningful, joyful experiences for residents. What drew me to Queens Manor is what keeps me here — it’s a home that values individuality, growth, and self-expression, and it’s a place where residents, families, and staff feel truly seen and welcomed.
Every day, I’m inspired by the dedication, kindness, and teamwork around me. I love knowing that the activities we create add purpose, enjoyment, and connection to daily life — and I feel lucky to be part of a team that shares that same goal.

Hello! My name is Raymond Thomson, and I am the Head Chef at Queens Manor Care Home.
Here at Queens Manor, we provide a wonderful choice of beautiful, delicious and nutritious dishes. The food and dining experience at Queens Manor is recognised as an integral part of the lifestyle here at the home, and I am committed to working alongside the Head of Lifestyle to ensure that our residents' needs and expectations are not only met, but exceeded.
When I was a child, I spent a lot of time with my brother, who was a chef – this is how I caught the Chef Bug, and from here I dedicated my time to developing my skills and becoming great at what I do!
Having a background in hotels, weddings and events, I have the knowledge and experience to cater to our residents' individual dietary needs, as well as the creativity to ensure that our mealtimes are also exciting times!

Hi, my name is Kathleen, and I am the concierge here at Queens Manor.
I have had a long history of working with the public and felt that it was time for a new challenge in my life. Every day is different here at Queens Manor, no two days are ever the same. It has been wonderful getting to know the team as it grows and develops.
The best part of my job is meeting new people, showing them what we provide and getting to know each person well as they move in and become part of Queens Manor Community

My name is Jennifer, and I am one of the Team Leaders here at Queens Manor. My role is to ensure that all of the residents are receiving the care and service that they deserve – this ranges from personal care to lifestyle choices. Having worked in care settings for over 17 years, I bring with me a wealth of knowledge to ensure that expectations are not only met, but exceeded.
One of my favourite parts of working at Queens Manor is definitely talking to the residents and hearing about their life stories – It is truly amazing to hear everyone’s backgrounds and different spiritual, cultural and professional travels.
I always say choose a job you love & you will never work a day in your life, and this very much remains true for my role at Queens Manor.

My name is Nicoleta and I am the Head Housekeeper at Queens Manor.
When asked what my favourite part of my job is, I really struggled to think of just one thing. If I had to choose, I would say building relationships with the residents and my colleagues.

Connie is a valued member of our community, and we are thrilled to have her represent our residents.
As Resident Ambassador, Connie serves as a voice for fellow residents, communicating their wishes, suggestions, and feedback to our staff members.
Connie makes such a positive impact in our care home.

I have spent 26 years working as a care auxiliary within the NHS, as well as supporting individuals in the community as a carer. My first experience in reception work began as a volunteer at St Columba’s Hospice, and more recently, I have gained further front-of-house experience in a local hotel.
I’m passionate about delivering excellent customer service, and I’m genuinely excited to begin my journey with Queens Manor.

James has recently retired from his role in the Scottish Parliament and has joined our team recently. James, who has a horticultural qualification, says he is loving the opportunity to work with QM Gardeners to plan and develop a colourful and inclusive garden space.
He's already drawn up a plan with residents and said,' It's not like work at all!
