Mum came into Barchester Queens Manor Care Home for four weeks respite and was so happy she stayed! The staff were very welcoming and the surroundings are very attractive, immaculately clean and comfortable. Mum settled immediately and enjoyed all the activities. The staff are extremely caring and friendly
and welcome family and friends. A big thank you to them all for a job well done.

My great-aunt has stayed in Queens Manor Care Home from June 2022 and loves it. She wasn't getting enough social interaction at home and Queens Manor is a hive of activity with something always going on. Their recent Fringe Event was great and offered something for everyone. The food has good variety
and the care and compassion shown is second to none in the area. 100% recommend.

This is a wonderful care home for anyone considering becoming a resident. The facilities are quite unmatched making it a clear front-runner when looking into options in and around Edinburgh. What really stands out is the level of care and attention given by each department.
They seem to be very inclusive
when considering meal options, activities, and level of care.
Would absolutely recommend going for a look around and speaking to the team if you are interested in this location.

I see all the staff working together for the residents, whether it be the everyday get-together or in memory lane.
Respect and dignity are very much a high priority for each and every resident.
Commitment to quality of care, as there is a resident questionnaire and discussion group weekly.
Compassion
and improving lives, I personally agree and witness - lots of opportunities for events happening. With the care that is taken with our loved ones overspills to the family members, we feel overwhelmed with the fact that we are as one and kept informed frequently. This is a very high standard of care.

My dad moved into the care two weeks ago, the staff have been fantastic, making sure the transition from hospital to care home went smoothly.
His room is lovely and very homely, he has lost a lot of weight whilst in hospital but the food at Queens Manor Care Home is excellent and he likes the choices
on the menus.
The staff have been very helpful too, even tagging all his clothes which was a great help to his family. Special thanks to the senior carer for sorting out his medication.
Would definitely recommend the home in the future.

This is an exceptionally good care home. The staff are beyond equal and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends or family. The level of the home sets an excellent example and this is mirrored right down to the cleaners. The food is good but it is a struggle for staff to meet budgets
at the current time.

Dad has now been at Queens Manor for three years. All the staff are lovely and Dad is very well cared for. It's very comforting to know that Dad is safe and happy. There is plenty of activities throughout the week to keep everyone entertained. My sister, brother and I are very happy we chose Queens

Overall, I am happy here. There is a good atmosphere and the staff are helpful and happy despite being hard worked due to shortages, which may be why it has taken so long to get baths and hair washes at regular intervals. I have a good room with access to a spacious outside area and am able to indulge
in gardening activities. I appreciate having my own desk and bookcase which allows me to continue with various projects via the internet.

I stayed for 1 month, very tired on arrival after breaking my right wrist 2 weeks before. Gave me exactly the right support I needed and I appreciated three good meals a day which helped to build up my energy again. I needed a zimmer frame to practice my walking and was much more confident by the time
I went home. I would come again if I needed respite care and recommend it to others. Small criticism- the change from a jug to bottles of water made it difficult for the staff to keep up the supply and they were impossible to open.

My father became a resident at Queens Manor in September 2022 when he became unable to live safely at home due to severe mobility problems. My sister and I are so glad that we found Dad a place at Queens Manor as, from the initial admission process right through to Dad sadly passing away peacefully
at the home at the end of November, the love and care provided by all the staff were absolutely exemplary - and a great comfort to Dad and to the family.
It was always Dad's wish not to die in the hospital, and when the time came, the care team at Queens Manor kept him comfortable and administered palliative care so that he could remain at peace in his own room until the end. They sat with him day and night, and Dad said that the carers were like a family to him.
We cannot speak highly enough of our experience with the management and care team at Queens Manor, who exceeded our expectations every single day.

Queens Manor is a lovely-looking care home. I can say I was disappointed with a few things in the home which were not appropriate. I saw and learned a lot from visiting this care home. Some good some not so good. The look of the home gives a different impression of what it really is. A bit disappointed
to say the least.

In summary, this is a five-star care home with 5 star quality of care. I can highly recommend this home for its excellent facilities and the professional level of service provided by each member of staff.
It is a difficult decision to move to a care home either for the resident or the relatives. However,
Queens Manor has made this transition as easy and comfortable as possible. The staff are always friendly, welcoming and patient with each resident.
My father was a pioneer in the field of palliative medicine and always aspired to have good quality of palliative care to be provided in any care setting. He recently died at Queens Manor and I can verify that each member of staff provided top-quality palliative care. My Father was given the most dignified end of life care.
I and my family are very grateful for all the care and love provided by this exceptional care home.

Queens Manor is a 5-star hotel but with caring staff. The home is spotless and very comfortable and with plenty of activities to keep the residents engaged. are catered for. Highly recommended.

My father sadly died in November 2020. My mother was already suffering from the onset of Alzheimer's and, after more than 60 years of marriage, the loss of her husband coupled with her cognitive degeneration meant that she was reliving this loss multiple times each day, all within her own home. It was
unsustainable but not unpredictable and, along with my two sisters, we had been researching quality care facilities into which my mother could move - the golden rule was always 'what would they have wanted' when making such a selection. After a considerable amount of research visits to multiple facilities, Queens Manor Care Home was, without doubt, the right decision. The quality of service and empathy shown, even prior to my mother's admission, was exemplary and, to date, that level of proactive care, service and compassion has continued. Indeed it is balanced by excellent communications both on a generic basis but also on a specific basis when I or my sisters call or visit.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.931)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.931) out of 10 for Barchester Queens Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.931 for Barchester Queens Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (231 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 246 Ratings = 4.931
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Queens Manor Care Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I started working in care as helping others and making a difference gives me purpose and drive and I continuously strive to improve my skill set every day so that the residents receive the best possible care and so that I can lead the team well – After being promoted to Head of Unit and now after a very successful interview period, I have now been promoted to Deputy General Manager and I am super excited for the future here at Queens Manor.

I love getting to know the residents, their families and I love the partnerships I’ve made with my colleagues and the wonderful team here.

I have experience working in the care sector since 2006, both clinically and administratively; this has given me a great insight into the needs and desires of people moving into a care community. I started working at Queens Manor in 2018 as the home administrator and worked together with the concierges to ensure the smooth running of the home.

I love that I can work in a job I enjoy with a great team, and I feel privileged to be part of this flagship home.

When asked what my favourite part of my job is, I really struggled to think of just one thing. If I had to choose, I would say building relationships with the residents and my colleagues.
