After a few ups and downs, my mum has settled into life at Barony Lodge. A couple of incidents within the first month or so were dealt with immediately; I feel reassured that I can speak to staff about any concerns should they arise.
Staff have been welcoming, friendly and always happy to answer any questions. Staff have a good rapport with the residents and visitors; I really feel like one of the family.
My first thought after my mum moved in was, "this is how a care home should be run", I still think the same after eight months.

All services are outstanding - management, care, housekeeping maintenance, laundry, food and activities; apologies if I missed anyone out. The design of the resident lounge, dining, kitchen and staff area means that a member of staff is mostly present, and residents are rarely left unsupervised. My Mum has her own ensuite wet room and access directly to the garden; we couldn't have asked for more. Thank you, Barony Lodge.

We couldn't be happier with the care and support our dad is receiving and feel very reassured that he is happy and safe living in his lovely new home. Living locally, we asked around about a suitable home for Dad and Barony Lodge came highly recommended on many occasions.
Dad has been a resident for 6 months. He loves living there and has settled in so well. You can tell the team enjoys working there and they genuinely care for their residents. They are very knowledgeable and professional, with a wealth of experience. Dad's needs are constantly assessed and we are encouraged to be a big part of this process.
The activities are fantastic and are tailored to both groups and individuals. The food is delicious and the building, gardens and Dad's room are always kept pristine and immaculately clean.
It really is quite an exceptional place to stay and visit.

Thank you.

Barony Lodge Residential Care Home has been, and continues to be the best choice of care home for my mother who has dementia. She is well cared for, and enjoys living there. The staff are all excellent. The home is kept super clean. Laundry is super efficient. I haven’t tasted the food, but my mother enjoys it, and always has a good supply of refreshments.
There are many varied activities going on, for which Mum is given the opportunity to join in.

The best thing for me is that Mum always says that she loves it there, and that is the main thing.

Mum went into Barony Lodge after she continually suffered with cellulitis and constantly being hospitalised, originally for respite, although her date of admission was 23rd March 2020 - same date the UK went to lockdown due to covid. Over the course of lockdown the staff were amazing with her, assisting her with video chat with the family, keeping her occupied, but mostly ensuring she was cared for and safe from infection, providing peace of mind to all the family.

Over the next 3 years (or so) Mum built friendships, mainly with the staff and became notorious for her crocheting and making blankets for many, many people, together with her many stories about her growing up and her family. Over the three years the staff have been amazing, had it not been for the fact Mum now requires nursing care, I know she would have gladly returned to the Barony family, I know this because she told me. Thank you to all those who either met, or came into contact with Mum.

From initial enquiry, through the assessment process and the first week's respite care for my mum, the professionalism, thoughtfulness and understanding from all the staff at Barony Lodge Residential Care Home have been exceptional.
Their care not only to my mum but to myself and family has been welcoming and tailored to her/our needs. I was able to go away for the first time in twelve months knowing Mum was safe, cared for and well and truly entertained. Her rekindling of an old friendship with another permanent resident on a lower floor was facilitated and encouraged, making Mum's first stay much more happy and homely for her.

She is looking forward to her next respite soon and we hope to be able to use this valuable service on a regular basis to support Mum's and my family's needs.

Overall, the care is good.
Very challenging for the staff at times who cope very well.
The entertainment staff try to involve as many clients as possible to join in with activities, but some of the clients recline.

Family meetings are regularly arranged, which have shared information for families and care staff.

Mum originally went for six weeks of respite at Barony Lodge in March 2020 after a short stay in hospital. She loved it there, was very happy and well cared for, so much so she didn’t want to leave and made the decision to stay permanently.
The manager and her staff are amazing and so helpful. I have peace of mind that Mum is safe and happy and being treated with care and respect.
The atmosphere is great, staff are friendly and happy to help from as soon as you walk through the door to when you leave. Everywhere is clean and tidy. Variety of different activities and the staff always try and encourage the residents to participate. Meals are excellent, and the tables in the dining area are set with copies of the menu for the day.
I would not hesitate to recommend Barony Lodge to anyone who is thinking of moving a relative in there.

You all do a great job - keep up the good work.

My dad moved into Barony Lodge on the 14/08/23. The staff have been excellent and have made him very comfortable and welcomed him. Obviously, there were minor issues as he settled in but all matters were addressed and dealt with efficiently.

My mum came to Barony Lodge four months ago after a lengthy stay in hospital following a fall at home. She was very confused and unsettled after being in the hospital, however, the support from the staff transformed her day-to-day life. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and I also see this in their interactions with other residents when I visit. As a family, we appreciate how we are welcomed when we visit and it's a huge relief to know Mum is in a safe environment and is well cared for, well fed and happy. Thank you, everyone.

My mother is cared for very well. She is always well dressed and carers make an effort to get her out of her bedroom and into the lounge. My only fault is that there should be more activities to stimulate her mind eg. more fun days and people coming into sing etc. There used to be an entertainments person, but he has not been replaced.

Our friend has just completed four weeks respite care at Barony Lodge Residential Care Home having visited each week I was impressed with the lovely light, clean bedrooms and communal areas but even more impressed with the staff. Without exception they treated each resident with respect and kindness, taking care to find out the particular needs of each. For our friend, it was hygiene, food and anxiety that had been a problem, but each was addressed and helpful. The hairdresser and chiropodist weren't available during these weeks unfortunately but otherwise excellent.

My mum came to stay here for 14 days for respite, she is a nervous woman but soon relaxed when she was greeted by the staff. I have to say when you see TV documentaries on television you think twice about letting a loved one stay but not the case with Barony Lodge. One word to describe - excellent, in all departments.

So happy Mum is in the care of such amazing staff. All areas are covered so well for care. While in the pandemic of Covid, everyone has been more than helpful in keeping our loved ones safe. When you call, staff are always so helpful, and when possible they have had loved ones out in the garden which cheers everyone up.
