Barony Lodge is a modern care home offering residential, dementia and respite care, which can be pre-booked. The team follows Sanctuary Care’s Enriching Lives framework, based on six senses that promote happiness and fulfilment - security, belonging, continuity, purpose, achievement and significance. Residents are supported to achieve personal goals, such as becoming a resident ambassador, a role that includes interviewing staff and welcoming new residents.

The home features 60 spacious bedrooms with ensuite wet rooms, some with direct garden access. Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with ornaments, pictures and small furniture. Communal spaces include light, airy lounges, a themed art deco cinema room with a popcorn machine, and an on-site vintage tea room for catching up with loved ones over tea and home-baked cakes.

The landscaped sensory gardens have raised flower beds, fruit trees and seating areas, plus resident rabbits. Gardening is popular, and residents enjoy growing plants and produce. The home also offers a hair and beauty salon with a nail bar and a giant interactive tablet designed for residents living with dementia.

Barony Lodge is located in Nantwich, close to shops and excellent transport links, and hosts a monthly dementia café to connect with the local community.

Proud to be veteran-friendly

Barony Lodge has achieved Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) status, supporting the practical, emotional and social needs of the armed forces community. The VFF is a collaboration between Royal Star & Garter, Royal British Legion and NHS Veterans’ Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA).

My mother is cared for very well. She is always well dressed and carers make an effort to get her out of her bedroom and into the lounge. My only fault is that there should be more activities to stimulate her mind eg. more fun days and people coming into sing etc. There used to be an entertainments
person, but he has not been replaced.

Our friend has just completed four weeks respite care at Barony Lodge Residential Care Home having visited each week I was impressed with the lovely light, clean bedrooms and communal areas but even more impressed with the staff. Without exception they treated each resident with respect and kindness,
taking care to find out the particular needs of each. For our friend, it was hygiene, food and anxiety that had been a problem, but each was addressed and helpful. The hairdresser and chiropodist weren't available during these weeks unfortunately but otherwise excellent.

My mum came to stay here for 14 days for respite, she is a nervous woman but soon relaxed when she was greeted by the staff. I have to say when you see TV documentaries on television you think twice about letting a loved one stay but not the case with Barony Lodge. One word to describe - excellent,
in all departments.

So happy Mum is in the care of such amazing staff. All areas are covered so well for care. While in the pandemic of Covid, everyone has been more than helpful in keeping our loved ones safe. When you call, staff are always so helpful, and when possible they have had loved ones out in the garden which
cheers everyone up.

I moved my godmother from another home because she needed her own bathroom. The home is beautifully decorated and there is a lot of interaction. Residents are not left to sit in the dayroom all day, like her previous home. She is well cared for and the communication through lockdown has been very good.
I have a couple of comments - it would be good to get at least a quarterly update, in respect of her care and health. In addition, clothes go missing, even when marked.

Mum moved into Barony Lodge just before Christmas 2020. During the short time she has been there, she has settled in well and is happy with all aspects of her care. The staff are excellent and keep me informed about her care, as visits are not permitted at the moment.

I have both my parents in Barony Lodge and am very confident they are being looked after well. The manager always responds to any concerns promptly and has always addressed and sorted any issues out. The rooms are lovely and clean and the lounge is really welcoming and homely. We wanted somewhere that
not only was right for our parents but also was somewhere you actually didn’t mind going into to visit and Barony Lodge ticks all the boxes. The staff are fantastic, obviously, some are better than others but in general, they are all very caring and do a fantastic job. Due to COVID I haven’t been in for almost a year now so cannot comment on the food right now or the entertainment but that was something I always thought could be improved. The entertainment seemed somewhat sporadic and not very entertaining. But maybe things have improved. I have no hesitation in recommending this home.

Best value and quality care home in the local area. Very supportive in Covid crisis. Difficult to quantify some of the options below as we have not been able to enter the property for nearly 12 months but otherwise very happy with the care and quality of the home.

Very well maintained home, Staff are caring, compassionate and understand the need to treat people with dignity and respect. They interact well with all residents and have a timetable of activities that residents can choose to join in with. The rooms are clean, airy and comfortable with en-suite facilities.
The
food is of a high standard and outside of the current lockdown encourage family and friends to visit and join in with Christmas parties etc. It is more like entering a hotel rather than a care home. They have an amazing cinema room and I have seen residents first hand enjoying movies.

Barony Lodge is a modern building with great facilities. The staff are very caring and know their residents very well. This is due to the permanence of the staff, which means that the residents can build a relationship with their carers. The staff responsible for activities are dedicated to involving
residents in many different kinds of games, crafts, films and music. The support staff are always friendly and welcoming to visiting families. I have already recommended Barony Lodge to a friend and I would highly recommend Barony Lodge to anyone.

After a long stay in hospital, my sister entered Barony Lodge feeling very depressed and weak. After 6 months, and the marvellous, care, compassion and encouragement shown by the wonderful caring staff, she is almost her old self again. Nothing is too much trouble and the management bend over backwards
to help with any concerns that might arise. They are all, really The Best.

My mother moved into Barony Lodge in October 2020, the deputy manager and manager made our transition, despite COVID) as welcoming and positive as we could have hoped. Mum wanted to be on the ground floor with a door out into the garden, but as it’s winter she hasn’t made full use of that yet, she has
gone upstairs and enjoys looking out of the picture windows up there and chatting to staff and residents. She finds the gentleman in charge of the entertainments absolutely delightful and enjoys the quizzes and crosswords he entertains the residents with.
Mum has found the food wholesome and freshly prepared.
The staff are extremely kind and helpful, her only problem is that given the masks they have to wear they tend to shout which for anyone with a hearing aid is impossible to hear, just normal and as clearly as possible is her only plea.!! This is only a comment, not a complaint.
Thank you very much overall, we look forward as a family to meeting you all properly.

It wasn't an easy decision to make when my aunt was no longer safe to live in her own home. I and another family member went to see 2 other places before we visited Barony Lodge, we knew on that visit it was the right place for her. The building the staff and all the facilities felt so warm and inviting,
she soon settled in and is very happy and content. During these unprecedented times the staff have gone above and beyond there duty to ensure the residents are safe and well looked after.

It has been such a difficult year for care homes. Whilst we have been in this COVID-19 situation some decisions have had to be taken that no one would wish in an ideal world, especially the limits placed on physical contact, but the intent throughout has been to keep our loved ones safe. I am very glad
that my mum is being cared for at Barony Lodge.

Mum's stay at Barony Lodge was full of laughter and kindness. The housekeeping team made sure that Mum's room was always immaculate; just the way she liked it. Mum loved the food and being waited on. She really did think that she was in a hotel. It gives me comfort to know that Mum enjoyed her time

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.820)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.820) out of 10 for Barony Lodge Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.820 for Barony Lodge Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (259 Excellents x 5) + (40 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 306 Ratings = 4.82
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barony Lodge Residential Care Home is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have worked at Barony lodge for 3 years. I really enjoy supporting the residents in their day to day life. It’s a privilege to support them, and get to know them and find out about their life before coming into a care home. I believe when working in care you should care for residents how you would want a loved one to be cared for.
