The most important thing to me about Westhill Park is that my mum feels happy and safe. The staff are always happy and upbeat, making a positive difference to everybody's day. Activities planned are varied to suit all kinds of preferences and mum is free to choose what she wants to get involved in. Trips out are a lovely option and I know that this cannot be easy to plan & execute.
Mum's diet is quite specific so staff will cater for this, even when what's on the menu doesn't suit.
I have been particularlyimpressed with a core team of staff lately as they have used these warm summer evenings to deep clean each floor, removing & cleaning all furniture as well as the carpets.
Sharmaine is always moving forwards as decor is refreshed, colours are contemporary and the building always looks & feels fresh.
More hard work has been going on in the garden & mum's view has been greatly enhanced by this. We are looking forward to watching this develop.

We are very happy this is Mum's home.

My mum came into Westhill Park for respite care, initially after a spell in hospital and finding that she was not coping well with routine tasks at home. We had a visit from the Deputy Manager who asked lots of questions and mum was admitted 2 days later which was a great relief to myself to know that she would be safe and looked after. Her room was modern, with a wet room facility and tv. She had a view of the A14 which kept her in contact with the outside world but beyond that were fields of sheep. From the very beginning all the staff were very welcoming from the seniors who dispensed her medication and who cared for her health needs to the laundry staff who labelled and located her washing when needed. She was able to choose her meals and was treated with respect by all staff. The reception staff were very friendly and caring and ready to help with any queries. The home offers entertainment and those staff worked hard to include mum in various activities throughout the week.

My Mum has been there about 4 years now. She loves it! The activities, the staff, having her hair done every other Tuesday, her room with a door to the garden.
She talks about the staff as if they are family.
Mum used to be in another carehome in Northampton but she wanted to move as it went down hill after Covid. She is thoroughly happy that she did even though change is difficult.
Coffee morning on Wednesdays welcome relatives and you can play carpet bowls with them if you want.
It has given mum a new lease of life.
She loves it = I love it.

Well done Westhill Park!

I can't thank the team from Westhill Park enough led by the amazing Sharmaine, Care Home Manager.
Mum has been a resident for six years and nothing is too much trouble.
Mum is well cared for and can choose if she joins in with the timetable of different activities or enjoys time in her room which recently has been redecorated by the brilliant, Connor.
The staff are great. All approachable and make us feel welcome; making sure that it is 'Mum's home' not their place of work.
Mum recently had her birthday celebration in the garden room. The staff had gone to the trouble of decorating the room and making sure we had refreshments for Mum's guests. Everyone was well catered for.

Many, many thanks for your on going love and care.

My mum has been a resident at Westhill Park for just over three years. She has dementia and particularly struggles with her memory and anxiety. The staff are incredibly kind and she really feels part of the Westhill 'family'. The love and care she receives is outstanding. Sharmaine and her team work incredibly hard, and go above and beyond to make this a happy and stimulating place for both residents and their families. The facilities, the quality of care, the activities and entertainment, the catering, admin and maintenance are all first class. The home is well integrated in the local community and always has some event, fete or party for families to join in with.
I've found nothing to be too much trouble for this dedicated and caring team. Mum is really happy and it's lovely to see her joining with sing-alongs, daily activities and external entertainers.
I would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a great home.

Thank you Westhill.

David Harvey got taken into hospital with pneumonia and I live 21/2hrs away. The staff Sarah, Helen & Anita kept me updated from the time paramedics were called and while he was in hospital until I could get up there to see him myself.
They had told me that members of staff went to visit him daily, some even went in to him on there days off.

I cannot thank them enough knowing that David is in good hands taking care of all his needs. In hospital the palliative care team he only had days/weeks to live, but now he is back in the home he looks like a different person.

Following a recent health scare, I spent some time in respite care and had a very positive experience. I was encouraged to remain as independent as possible, doing what I could for myself whilst receiving support for the things I found more difficult. There were plenty of activities to join if you wanted to, which helped create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere. The meals were excellent with a good variety of choice and the quality of care was outstanding. The staff were kind, attentive and there when I needed them, making me feel safe, supported, and well looked after throughout my stay.

Noticed staff have tried to help dad more. Encouraging him to move from dining room and to participate more and trying hard to keep him awake, following this, he doesn't seem as confused. Unfortunately one of the best members of staff for this is now leaving, but I'm sure her replacement will continue the good work. In general, is the care good? I'm happy dad is getting the care he needs. He's had a few falls recently but has been well looked after.

Bringing my mother to Westhill Park in 2023 was, without question, one of the best decisions I've ever made. From the beginning, when I met the Manageress and her wonderful team, I was deeply touched by the genuine kindness, compassion and respect shown to every resident.

The home itself is spacious, warm and beautifully decorated creating an atmosphere that feels both welcoming and uplifting. My mother loved it immediately and truly felt at home.Knowing that she was cared for with such attentiveness and dignity gave me immense peace of mind. Her private room complete with en-suite was bright and thoughtfully arranged. Our entire family was always made to feel sincerely welcome. The activities and entertainment bought so much joy and laughter and it was heartwarming to see how much my mother enjoyed taking part. We were kindly invited to special events such as fireworks displays and Christmas celebration.I will always be grateful for the love and care shown to my mum in her final days.

For nearly three years, my nan has been cared for at this home, and I honestly cannot express how grateful our family is for the love, reassurance, and dedication they show her every single day. The staff go above and beyond, not just providing care, but creating a true sense of home. It's clear how happy and comfortable my nan is, and to her, the people who work here feel like family rather than just staff.

A few months ago, after getting married abroad, my nan was unable to make the journey. The care home kindly allowed us to visit her in my wedding suit and my wife's wedding dress. What truly amazed me was how much effort they put into making it a special moment for her. They helped make her feel included in our big day, even laying on food and prosecco so we could all celebrate together. It was incredibly touching and something our family will never forget.

Knowing how happy nan is here gives us real peace of mind, and I truly hope her last memories are of joy an care at westhil.

I must leave a review for the excellent care provided for my mum. I had to book her in for 10 days' respite due to me having an operation. The management was brilliant and showed us around all the facilities the week before we arrived.. The day I brought mum, we were welcomed with open arms, and all the staff were brilliant. The care she has had has been phenomenal. Mum loved having her hair done, having a pamper session, doing a manicure, but also having a fantastic long luxury soak in the amazing bath they have. She absolutely loved it.

But all in all, it has been a wonderful experience for her and opened up her eyes about a potential move into the home permanently at some point in the future, later in 25/26. Going back to the staff, though, they were great and I couldn't praise them enough. nothing was too much trouble. The only drawback I would say is apparently the prices could change soon which would be a bad thing. Do not change it please!

Our dad has lived at Westhill for nearly 5 years; our mum was also a resident until she passed away 3 years ago. The care throughout has been exceptional and since they moved in, we've always had regular updates about our parents' health and care. Staff treat residents with genuine compassion, respect, and warmth. When they moved in (during lockdown) they helped get Dad a Parkinson's diagnosis and on the right medication, and they supported Mum through dementia with skill and sensitivity, which made a difficult time more manageable. Now Dad is in end-of-life care, and they continue to do everything they can to keep him safe and comfortable. The management are proactive, kind, and always make sure he gets what he truly needs - not just what the guidelines say. Every member of staff shows the same outstanding commitment - knowing each resident by name, respecting their independence, and providing thoughtful, personal care that protects their dignity and safety.

I love visiting my mother and find that I have become part of the family at Westhill Park. Whether I am just with her or joining in with activities it is home from home. I continue to be impressed with the levels of care provided at Westhill Park. My elderly mother has advanced dementia and therefore requires much assistance with her routine. This care is provided with professionalism, warmth and generosity of spirit. From my perspective, I am able to feel totally confident that my mother is cared for at all times of the day. Furthermore, should there be a need for any communication between Westhill Park and me, then I am always kept fully informed and in a timely manner. I also value the online relatives' gateway facility which provides detailed and up-to-date notes about my mother and this means that I can seek information remotely and at all times.

The home put on a Breakfast With Bluey experience in the cinema room for resident's families. I attended with my grandchildren and my daughter and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Sharmaine Hall
Sharmaine HallJob Title Home ManagerJoined 2021

In December 2009, I started a job as a support worker in a care home with no idea whether I would suit the role, I then became a senior support worker, then a team leader, a deputy manager, a project manager and then home manager, I think it's fair to say that I suited the role.

Sadly, there is a perception of care that is quite dated and conjures up images of dingy lounges and rice pudding. From day one I wanted to prove that good care homes can be fabulous places to live, that they were not institutions but homes with beautiful facilities and opportunities to really live, not just exist.

When I am making decisions about hiring, menus, activities, decor, I always imagine my family and think about what I would want for them. The people we care for are individuals with rich histories and I want them to remain so, nobody has to fit in here. We provide a service to meet individual needs and that is as it should be.

My favourite part of the job is working with my team; knowing that we are making a difference, I like to lead by example. I work hard to ensure that we are providing a high standard of care and that the home is a happy place.

Every day I work with families and other professionals to ensure our residents get the best service. I am caring and passionate about what I do.

Westhill Park is a fantastic home with hardworking and caring staff. The residents that live with us are amazing and have such individual characters and amazing stories to share. The staff take pleasure in getting to know them and their families, listening to their life histories enables them to form a bond and gain their trust.

One day I'd like to be a director of care, I won't be satisfied until I know that I have provided 5 star care to as many people as possible.

Working in social care is not a job, it's a vocation and I feel truly blessed to have found mine.

Hi, my name is Stephen and I am the Housekeeping Manager here at Westhill Park.

Firstly, I'm going to tell you about myself. I was born and raised in Stoke on Trent, I have lived up North and down South and I am currently living in Kettering. As soon as I left school I went straight into employment I have had various job roles but I found that I am best suited in the hospitality industry. I worked to achieve my NVQ Level 2 in hospitality during my working career.

I was employed as a Housekeeper once I started at Westhill Park but soon progressed into my role as Housekeeping Manager soon after.

The best part of my job is managing my team, working alongside the management to care for the residents who live here at Westhill Park.

Katie Partridge
Katie PartridgeJob Title Head ChefJoined 2023

I came to Westhill Park two years ago as a Kitchen Assistant. During the first 6 months, I was promoted to Deputy Chef where I assisted the Head Chef in the daily running of the kitchen and trained the Kitchen Assistants in maintaining high standards of the kitchen and producing hearty, homely food for our loved ones.

Every now and then, I also cover care, which gives me a great opportunity to interact with our residents. I have familiarised myself with residents' likes and dislikes of food, which has led to a better understanding of how to support their nutritional needs.

In my two years at Westhill Park, I've maintained the 5-star rating with E.H.O. and have entered competitions, which have been an amazing experience for me. Earlier this year, I entered Anchor's internal Chef of the Year competition, where I was in the semi-finals. The judges' feedback was positive, and they were impressed with the food I had produced. I was invited to the final of the Chef of the Year and was proud to assist the other Chefs and experience the event, which was wonderful. I'll enter again this year for sure. I'm also very proud to be a finalist in the regional Great British Care Awards in the Care Home Cook/ Chef award.

I wouldn't be where I am today without the amazing support of my team and the managers at Westhill Park.

Hi, my name is Connor, and I am 26 years old

I was born in Haywards Heath. I decided to move up to Kettering spontaneously, and the first job I got was working as a housekeeper/ Kitchen assistant. Since then, I progressed into care, and I’ve taken a new role at Westhill Park as the Care Home’s Handy Person.

My role is to make sure the home remains a safe haven for our residents and staff, and for the home to feel as welcoming as possible. What I enjoy the most is being hands-on and actively present in the day-to-day running of the home. I enjoy helping the residents by repairing items, sorting furniture and painting to make it homely. I want to make sure that everyone is living in a person-centred environment that is as much of a home-from-home as possible.
