Overall Experience
Walberton Place has proven to be a great choice for my mother's new home. It is a beautiful and well planned home in the Sussex countryside and my mother has settled in very well and very quickly. I was apprehensive that she would be resistant to being placed in a care home but to my pleasant surprise she has taken to it well and there have been no issues or problems so far.
She is well cared for and she and her surroundings are always clean and comfortable. She enjoys the food and is always sat in the cafe or restaurant or cinema room or lounge when I visit. I was concerned she would spend a lot of time in her room but she appears to be using all the facilities which surprised me.

I cannot fully describe how relieved I am to know she is so well cared for and that she is surrounded by a capable team who make sure she is well fed and cared for and that any medical issue will be picked up and treated quickly. I feel justified in making the difficult decision to place her in a care home.

The staff at Walberton are very kind in their care for my Mother who celebrated her 100th birthday in February and unfortunately we were unable to be there - but all the staff certainly made up for our absence and went above and beyond to treat her to the most fantastic party. Thank you so much to everyone who made it a special day for her.

I have notice the cleanliness of Mums room could be better, bit of food found under furniture. Having improved labeling off laundry still item are getting lost or misplaced, perhaps it would help if Mums clothes were returned into labeled draws , ie underwater, shirts, trousers (hung in wardrobe).
Mum also needs more help with personal hygiene routines in mornings and evenings, cleaning dentures etc.
Mum seem to enjoy many of the activities, just needs a little encouragement, always likes the singing.

Overall Mum seem happy at Wallberton she has made new friends, just can not remember their names. She likes the food, when I read the menu it a good variety of meals.

It is a lovely home, with very friendly and caring staff and good food. As it is purpose built the rooms are spacious and bathrooms appropriately set up. It has a welcoming atmosphere, and everyone is very well cared for. After escaping from a very different home elsewhere, Walberton Place was a breath of fresh air. It is an important part of the local community so parties and events are attended by locals and lots of relatives which gives a really good feeling. My friend was very happy there, and always treated with dignity and respect even when he was not at his best. Activities were well planned and varied, and friends and relatives could join in too. Can't thank everyone enough - and I would mention staff by name but there was literally nobody working there that I would not recommend wholeheartedly.

My admission to Walberton Place was dealt with efficiently and extremely quickly - thank you. I had a great ensuite room, spotless and spacious enough to accommodate my mobility equipment. I was able to have visitors in my room as well as being able to take people round the gardens or communal areas. I had numerous hospital appointments and visits from medical professionals. All of these were managed for me - so no stress! On hospital days I was given a packed lunch, or food was arranged for me should I come back late. I enjoyed the food (roast dinners!) as there was always something on the menu to suit me. Although health and safety requirements were always applied, they never got in the way of a friendly, homely and flexible atmosphere. This Home is top notch in every respect but the real secret of its success is the sheer goodwill of the care staff. They are professional but kind, efficient but patient, and treat all residents as individuals.

Mum went to the care home for 8 weeks of recuperation. On entering the home she was in a mentally bad place. The carers and management took time to get to know mum and her exact needs. Within 2 weeks mum was making great progress in regaining her confidence and recovery from a severe UTI. The peaceful and relaxing surroundings made a huge difference and supported mum's recovery. Mum returned home recently and the care home and staff made this a reality by treating mum with care and dignity at all times. Thank you so much you gave me and my family our mum, nan and great grandma back

I came to visit today at your care home. I was very nervous to see my friend as I hadn't seen her for a few weeks. I used to clean for her and be her companion. So I have missed her terribly. I arrived and was greeted by a lovely receptionist, who was welcoming and told me where she would be, and her room. I was then greeted by a member of staff, who told me she was having her lunch, but I could say hello. When she saw me, her face lit up, and we had a huge hug. I let her finish her lunch and then she came and found me in the corridor, we had plenty of hugs, laughter and tears, but I can see my friend is being well looked after and is very happy and content in her new setting. The home is in a beautiful setting, the location is stunning, and the home is immaculate and so clean. The staff were all friendly and smiley and it really made me feel at ease. I will visit her regularly and I am so happy to see her smile and I can't wait for that extra hug, and chats. Thank you for taking such great care of her.

Such a big step for my 89 year old husband! Despite only being two week respite, any misguidings we had were misguided. Youer home & staff do everything. At all times myself & my husband were met with kindness & patience. Our family were made to feel most welcome, little ones included. In today's times. I feel you are all to be congratulated. As we get older I'm sure he will return to visit.

Because I did not requite care, I saw few staff. I expected my bed to be made daily, but that only happened once. I felt left to my own devices as I didn't need care. If I had my door shut, I wouldn't have heard or seen anyone, a lonely experience, unfortunately. The staff I did see were kind, but sometimes difficult to understand & they did not understand what I said.

The care home provided outstanding support during the last 12 hours before passing away. All staff covered our needs to cope and deal with a very upsetting time. This does not surprise me as since Mum has lived there her needs and welfare were of the highest standard and their verbal chats were so good & personal. So much felt special.

It is always difficult to make a decision regarding your loved one's care, as there are so many things to consider for each individual. Owing to my own sudden bad health, the decision for respite care for my elderly husband had to be done in a hurry. I asked many friends and neighbours who have lived in this area, and the answer was always Walberton Place Care Home. Such a good decision in every way. He has had kind and caring attention at all times, and it has made my life easier knowing that he is in good hands and safe. He may have to have more respite care in the future and I know he would be happy to return here. Thank you one and all.

I visited my Mum on the morning of Christmas Day 2024 and was thrilled to find the home buzzing with Christmas joy and a real family feeling. There were high numbers of cheerful staff making it a very special time for all residents. The home had not only bought a gift for each resident, but I noticed, with delight, that significant thought had been given and each gift was very personalised. This home really gets to know the particular interests and likes of its residents. As I live a long way away and am only able to visit about every six to eight weeks, for a few days, it was very reassuring to see how much thought and care is given to my Mum. She is happy and settled and regularly says how lovely the staff are. The care at this home is to be praised; from the quality of the food, the general cleanliness, the range of activities on offer, the patience, kindness and respect of the staff towards the residents and their friendliness towards visitors. A lovely place for my Mum.
