Walberton Place Care home is luxurious and beautifully furnished whilst retaining a warm family atmosphere, with highly trained staff available to get to know residents individually offering the highest standards of care.

The home has 80 en-suite bedrooms, each tastefully decorated and with its own walk-in wet room. There are fully-equipped assisted bathrooms on each floor.

The ground floor has spacious lounges and dining areas for residents to dine and relax overlooking the enclosed courtyard garden, the home has extensive landscaped gardens for residents to enjoy overlooking surrounding fields and countryside.

Walberton Place features the 'Elegance' hairdressing salon, its own cinema room, bistro café and 'Horse & Jockey' pub. Visitors can join residents for coffee and cake in the Honey Pot café. The home has a dedicated activities team providing a daily activities schedule and minibus trips out of the home.

Well-being and activity coordinators ensure that residents enjoy a full range of meaningful activities. Group activities such as games, light exercise, crafts, gardening or singing provide an opportunity to socialise, with other activities available on a one-to-one basis.

Visits from community groups are encouraged to build links with the local area and enable residents to continue their hobbies and interests.

Meals are cooked on-site by a highly trained chef with ingredients sourced from the local area.

Residents will have a daily choice of meals with all dietary requirements catered for. Luxury dining will be provided on a daily basis and served by the dedicated front of house waiting staff. Tea, coffee, and drinks will be provided for residents throughout the day.

Walberton has given the best care, made her stay feel like home. The last 2 and a half years, I have never worried about the quality of care. As I lived in Holland, it gave me peace of mind every time we came to visit. The quality of hygiene is fantastic, the care is superb.

I can't praise the staff of Walberton Place enough for the care of my aunt. We have been pleased to witness such tender gentle care, treating her with such dignity. We know that she is very appreciative of the care she receives by the comments she made to us... She told us that she felt valued as an
individual at Walberton and that she felt she was able to contribute in her own way to the many activities on offer. This moves and greatly reassures us. We also appreciate the easy communication from the Home Manager - right across the board including the Reception, Hospitality and cleaning staff (she thinks the hairdressing is the best she has found in the Chichester area!). Each and every one of the staff knows our names and are always keen to give us sensitive updates on my aunt. Thank you Walberton for all the kindness and respect shown to us as a family - greatly appreciated by us all.

Since the new manager has arrived, there is a marked improvement in the feeling of how Walberton Place is run. The home is cleaner and for sure the staff have more purpose and seem much happier, which reflects upon the residents' happiness.
The gardens look well-kept and upon arrival, the front lawn
is not a wilderness. It is mowed and the flowers give a welcome. The gardener is also doing a great job.

My nan is currently a resident at Walberton Place. The majority of the building does not feel like a care home and has a lovely downstairs cafe and garden area to enjoy a coffee when we visit. The first floor could do with some TLC, carpets replaced/washed, kitchen upgraded and possibly hallway air
fresheners. It does have a very different feel to downstairs. Downstairs also has a hair salon which is a great touch. The rooms are lovely, spacious and well-kept. It would be good if there was slightly more structure to the first floor in terms of the level of care required for some residents. The staff are brilliant and very supportive, and Walberton provides a relaxed homely feel. I believe my grandmother is safe and happy which makes me happy. Would be good to see them supporting people with getting out into the community more but the activities they offer onsite are great. There is one Activity staff member in particular, who is amazing with my nan. Thank you to all.

I continue to be very impressed by the staff and the quality of provision at Walberton Court Care Home. My dad is thoroughly looked after and his needs are met with gentle care. The staff also support me as a relative which is very much appreciated.

They say that life is what you make it, never a truer statement said in jest. I, like others, would perhaps not choose to be in a care home but I am so lucky that fate played a part in my being a resident here at Walberton. I feel at home, I feel valued and I feel secure. The staff do a grand job, their
patience and tact with fellow grumpy residents is a credit to themselves. Bravo. The whole set-up works, the day begins and the amazing chef begins his demanding task of placating the palettes of around 70+ hungry people, he succeeds with aplomb. Front of house (dining hall, reception, cleaning) always have a smile, on the odd day that I may feel a tad down, they are there to brighten the day. I could go on enthusing the attributes of Walberton but I shall not, I will surmise by repeating, I do not want to be in a care home but I am super happy here, I still have my independence supported by a great group of staff. I'm simply happy.

Excellent food, bistro staff kind and helpful.
Good bedroom (bed a bit hard) needs hooks for coats etc. Bathroom very good but needs a soap rack in the shower, hooks on the door and a heated towel rail.
Poor laundry service.
Overall, very good. Walberton Place will be on my list when I need long-term
care. One aggressive resident spoilt some meal times.

My husband was at Walberton Place for six months but sadly died at the end of October. He was very well cared for during that time, especially as he was immobile and needed a lot of help with hoists. All the staff were very kind to my husband and me. They encouraged him to take part in various activities,
which he enjoyed. I was able to visit him nearly every day as the home is close to where I live, which made a great difference.

My mum had a respite stay at Walberton Care Home for two weeks. The staff were kind and attentive. The bedroom was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was a private en-suite and was very well equipped. The food was delicious and there was a tea and coffee room open all day. There was entertainment
and activities every day in one form or another. I was very happy with her stay and when she is in need of more permanent care I will be going to Walberton Care Home.

My mother was transferred to the care of Walberton Place Care Home by the NHS discharge team at her local hospital. We as a family have been overwhelmed by the care, attention and service that she, and we, have received since she arrived. The care home is first class with every attention to detail
covered. My mother is still resident at the home and we are hoping that she can continue to live at the care home - we recently had the joy of experiencing and joining in with the Jubilee celebrations at the home - again the attention to detail was wonderful and all the residents enjoyed not only live musical entertainment, activities and quizzes during the afternoon but the afternoon celebration tea was superb. The care mum has received since arriving has made the whole experience of mum's sudden decline more bearable and we cannot thank all the staff enough - words do not cover our appreciation.

I had a very pleasant room - bath, TV and bedside light. The food was excellent although I could've done with more gravy and custard. The staff are extremely good, much appreciated. Hairdressing and manicure. I enjoyed my stay.

My mum was sent here for respite after breaking her hip. Because of lockdown we couldn’t visit for ten days and were naturally very concerned as to how Mum was coping. She always said she never wanted to go in a care home, it was her biggest worry. When we visited the first time, we were impressed with
how welcoming the staff were, and the thought that had gone into such a well designed home for the residents. Mum was upset when we first saw her, not because she wanted to leave but because she loved it so much she wanted to stay. Her biggest worry was that we would take her away. Mum is now a full-time resident, she says the food is very good and the staff are very kind. She likes all the activities and celebrated her birthday recently, the highlight for her was everyone singing happy birthday to her. I can see how happy my mum is. I do think it would be helpful if we knew the names of the staff who look after her on a regular basis, we rarely seem to see the same ones when we visit.

All responses must of necessity be qualified at the moment because of the pandemic. While we have been able to see our friend under very unusual conditions and been able to talk to staff, we have not been able to visit him at will, see his room, observe his daily interaction with staff or see his food.
That said, what we have seen of the home is beautifully appointed, and our limited contact with the staff has made us very reassured that he is receiving the best possible care and attention. Thus the responses to the following questions relate only to what we have seen so far. The questions relating to room and food do not allow for a “don’t know” response, so my response is a guess.

I have to stress that I have visited my friend during an unusual period (Covid), and haven’t seen Walberton as thoroughly as I would otherwise have done. That said, I am very impressed by the skilled care and kindness shown by the staff looking after him. When I started to visit, staff would introduce
themselves and update me. The senior nurse has been very reassuring. Reception staff are always welcoming. So, my assessment is incomplete but I feel that my friend is in safe hands.

I should start by saying that for most of my mum's stay I couldn't visit her and haven't seen inside the home since the day she moved in last year. We were initially drawn to Walberton Place due to the facilities, food and activities on offer and because they were still facilitating visits at that time.
Though living with dementia, my mum is sociable and enthusiastic still. The activities did seem to be better than her previous smaller care home, the chef more willing to adapt to her requests/needs and she seemed happy as far as we could tell. The level of communication by the home, which we have had to rely on over past months, has been disappointing and several of the staff who were so obliging in the beginning moved on shortly afterwards. That said, I have no reason to doubt the carers at the point of delivery at Walberton Place do anything but a fantastic job, under difficult circumstances, and I look forward to witnessing the care and activities first-hand, hopefully soon.

We had to move our Mum from another care home during the lockdown. The staff were professional and accommodating and the liaison with the Customer Services Manager was exceptional. We have been visiting Mum in the last few months, since the lockdown has eased. She always seems happy and looks well cared
for. She displays a lot of affection towards the staff. What could have been an extremely distressing time has been handled with care and Mum maintains her dignity.

My mum was needing more and more supervision and support due to her dementia and living alone. It was a constant worry about her well-being and safety and due to Covid-19 daily interaction with others, was limited. She was getting lonely and fed up, I enquired at Walberton Place after visiting their
website and reading care reviews. I was met with a friendly, caring and supportive customer relations manager who helped manage Mum’s move in a speedy manner. The facilities are first class with a fantastic caring team, communication is excellent and nothing is ever too much trouble. Moving Mum to Walberton Place was a decision we needed to make to enhance her quality of life and our families, as we could not provide 24-hour care. As a family, we know she is being well looked after and is safe, she gets the support she needs and is having fun. They have an amazing wellbeing team that ensures the days are filled with stimulating activities in beautiful surroundings.

I have both my mum and my auntie in Walberton Place - auntie was a resident on day one so I think the fact that my mum is also now a resident means that I have been thoroughly happy and impressed with the delivery and standard of care that they both receive. The home is warm and welcoming, even through
the strange Covid times. Both my relatives are happy and settled which means that I’m happy. The management team are well lead and seem motivated to deliver great care. So overall, very pleased with our choice to place two very special ladies in the care of Walberton Place.

I was very impressed with Walberton Place from the first time I visited the home. I was very impressed by the way I was greeted and shown round and everything was explained so well.
The staff are very friendly and very professional in the care that is given. My father is so happy there and nothing
is too much trouble.
The home is always clean and very well presented.
I am so pleased I moved my father to this home.
