I would like to express heartfelt thanks for the care my husband received during a short stay at Speedwell. The care staff dealt very well with his fluctuating needs, and the management were calm and helpful when we were uncertain of what arrangements needed to be made. Special thanks to the night staff, who kept watch with the paramedic and me through the long night of waiting for ambulance arrival - (this included welcome cups of tea).
Thank you so much for your review, the whole team really appreciate the feedback and I am pleased you were kept refreshed by welcomed cups of tea.
Excellent staff. Lovely environment. Food has declined.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review we value your feedback.
Mum has really embraced the transition. She is much happier and even looks healthier, with regular meal times, loads of activities where she has been encouraged to join in.
Staff from front desk to cleaners, chefs and especially a big shout out to all the entertainment staff who do a fantastic job keeping everyone engaged and smiling. (Mandy, you're fab!)
Thank you for your kind words, it is so lovely to hear and it has been great to see your mum getting involved with so many of our activities.
Speedwell looked after my mum for nearly 2 years. Staff were caring, friendly and could not do enough for her. The home was always clean and never smelt. The cafe and garden are so lovely to visit with mum. I would recommend it.
Thank you for your kind words, the team are grateful to learn of such good feedback. I know it was a difficult decision in moving your mum to us - but we were very pleased you did as we got the opportunity to get to know her and yourselves too.
I still have full confidence in the kind respectful care given to mum which hasn't changed over the last 4 years. staff do their utmost to care for mum as best to their ability even under some difficult times when there is little cooperation from mum. if I question or ask for anything staff are happy to provide me the information needed and give me the reassurance of continued support and care. all the staff work extremely hard and all show their care and duty to provide a service to residents and family members, they are all so very friendly and I always feel mum is in very good hands which is ultimate for me knowing mum is cared and safe . the care home provide a weekly programme of activities/entertainment for residents . the care home is always very clean and I have total trust in all the staff at speedwell court
Thank you Tracy for such lovely words, the team are grateful for the feedback - we truly appreciate your review.
My Godmother has been at Speedwell for 14mths and has been extremely well cared for. A very friendly atmosphere means everyone knows her, whether it's care staff, kitchen or maintenance staff, the gardener, all stop to speak to her with a natural warmth. There are lots of activities which she's encouraged to take part in. Whenever personal care is needed curtains are always pulled even though her room is on the first floor and not overlooked.
Janet, thank you for your feedback - it is always great for the team to hear for themselves the great job they are doing. We appreciate your your review
I can't thank you enough for all that you do. All the staff work so hard to care for the residents and make sure that they enjoy every day. The activities programme is just brilliant and so varied too. My Mum loves all the music and singing, it makes her so happy, and we always feel so welcome when we come and see her.
We enjoy singing along with your mum too. Thank you for your kind words, the team really do appreciate hearing feedback like this.
Speedwell Court has been a blessing to us since our mum became a resident. We have been able to work together with staff so that our mum receives person-centred care. The management and carers are always willing to listen and take into consideration family suggestions, ideas and deal with concerns. We are able to rest assured because we can see that our mum is being very well looked after.
We really appreciate your feedback - it is great to hear you feel your mum is well looked after - thank you for the review
My father who dementia was admitted to Speedwell Court at short notice for respite care. The team were fanstastic at meeting his needs, getting to know him and help him settle in. They were attentive to his needs and he was well looked after. They was excellent communication with the family. We would certain choose Speedwell Court for future respite/ care needs and highly recommend it to others
Thank you for your feedback - it was great to get to know your father and yourselves too.
My Aunt was a resident at Speedwell for 2 years. She was happy and very well looked after during her time here. All the staff that I came across were friendly, caring and helpful. Communication was also great, thank you for everything.
Thank you for your kind words, we are always grateful to hear feedback.
Speedwell Court is fantastic. The staff are kind, professional and extremely caring, always treating my mum and residents with dignity and respect. The home is clean and very welcoming, which gave us, as a family, peace of mind knowing Mum was so well looked after. I would certainly recommend Speedwell as they've gone above and beyond to look after Mum.
Thank you for the kind words, we really appreciate your feedback. It is great to be able to pass on to the care team regards their tireless good work.
Mum was sadly only a resident at Abbeyfield Speedwell for 9 days. However the care that mum received at every level from the admin staff, medical staff, housekeeping and nursing staff was excellent in every respect. The staff were very kind and caring to me as well, and I was without a doubt that when I was not there the excellent care continued.
It is heart warming to hear that you and your mum felt care and support across all departments within Speedwell Court - so thank you for leaving your kind words of review. Our thoughts are with you
Birthdays are always celebrated with a cake provided by Speedwell. Mum was 94 last week and the carers made her day extra special with accommodating a good numbers of us visitors, providing a room for us and generally making her afternoon memorable with kind words and deeds. Thank you so much.
Thank you for your kind words and we are pleased to have helped celebrate with your mum.
Recent additions to the ground and activities teams are improving the environment and experience for residents and made the home a pleasant place to live.
I am confident that my mother feels secure and comfortable, and despite considerable dementia, appreciates the care and contact with others that she receives.
We appreciate you taking the time to provide a review, the team are grateful to receive this great feedback. Thank you.
My Nan moved to Speedwell Court early 24. From the start the care was exceptional. The home itself has amazing facilities including a cafe, cinema and various activities rooms. The most important thing for my Nan though was the garden. A market gardener when she was young, she had grown fresh produce and used it in her cooking all her life and Speedwell had the same ethos. They encouraged and facilitated her continuing to do what she loved safely. She grew vegetables there and there was even a 'cooking station' set up for her to make fresh pasta and sauce with the chefs acting as her sous chefs! Incredibly individualised and person centred care! There were events for every holiday and most week ends with games, visiting bands, even a visiting farm! My Nan was very social and loved to laugh and thoroughly enjoyed the activities but even more importantly she was cared for by the staff holistically, with kindness and respect and with her wishes at the forefront of any decisions made.
Thank you so much for such a thorough and thoughtful review of our home. We truly appreciate the time you took to share your experience, and it means so much to hear such kind words.
The service Speedwell Court provides is quite marvellous I have absolutely no complaints at all. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and caring. I am delighted with every aspect of the care my husband gets.
Hi Patricia. Thank you for your 5-star review of our Speedwell Court home.
Although his stay was only short-term, I would have no concerns if he had to return full-time.
Thank you for all your help.
We are grateful to you for such a lovely review. Our aim is to provide exactly what you have described and is great to hear that this has been your experience. Thank you.
My mum has been a resident at Abbeyfield Speedwell Court since May 2022. The care and compassion she has received has been exemplary. I would have no reservations about recommending Speedwell Court. I am always welcomed wholeheartedly and treated like one of the 'Speedwell family', I can rest knowing my mum is being very well cared for.
Thank you for your kind words concerning the care your mother receives at Speedwell Court.
We were very pleased with the care my father received in the last two years of his life at Speedwell Court. This has been exemplary and we very much appreciate the work and dedication of all the staff. Thank you.
Thank you for your 5 star review. It's great to know your father has settled in so well at Speedwell.
Speedwell Court provided the respite which was booked for two weeks initially.
My cousin is very difficult and the carers dealt with her extremely professionally even though she attacked two of them when they tried to get her into the shower.
As my cousin failed to recover from her operation within two weeks, we needed to extend her stay at Speedwell for a further two weeks. This was done instantly and efficiently without any problem at all.
Everyone at Speedwell was very cheerful and friendly. The care home is beautifully furnished and clean and reminded me very much of a fine hotel.
I would highly recommend Speedwell Court to anyone looking for a top of the range care home with first class care.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a 5-star review. So glad to see that your cousin received the care she required. Thank you for recommending Speedwell Court.

Meet the Team (6)

When I joined the Abbeyfield family at Speedwell Court, my immediate impression was of a very special place, with a positive, caring team and environment.
Speedwell Court is indeed a beautiful home, but it is the people and the staff team who make it special.

My name is Ewa and I am so thrilled to have joined the fantastic team at Speedwell Court as the Deputy Manager. I am passionate about delivering high quality, personalised care to every resident here. I feel truly privileged to work with such a dedicated and knowledgeable team, who strive to build upon the strong caring ethos which already exists within the Abbeyfield family. I really do believe that all of our existing and future residents deserve nothing but the best. At Speedwell Court, our mission is ‘To enhance the quality of life for older people,’ and this is one of my most valued beliefs.

I help to support our Residents with their care needs liaising with GP's, consultants and other professionals, supervising medication administration and family care reviews.

I have worked in the care sector for over 13 years which includes helping thousands of families across the South West to source appropriate care for their loved ones, I know how difficult it is to choose the right care package or care home.
I was pleased to join the team at Speedwell Court in the summer of 2023. My job is to welcome new residents and enquiries and discuss care options either now or in the future.
When I am not working I enjoy live music, reading, being in the great outdoors, gardening and spending time with family

My role at Speedwell Court is to make sure the building is all up together, properly maintained to a high standard and looking its best. I enjoy my role as I get to interact with the residents and keep their homes looking great. I like to stay active and healthy, this role definitely allows me to get my steps in!

Over the past four years, I have loved working for Abbeyfield at Speedwell Court. I have learnt so much and made many friends. The job and support are amazing, and being part of the team is such a positive daily experience.”
