Both my parents stayed at Miller Grange for respite care. During their stay, the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The home is very well-appointed and the rooms very nice with a small patio, perfect for the summer. There is a lovely cafe to meet visitors and two lovely lounges.
The food was very good, and I joined my parents on several occasions for lunch. The staff serving the lunch, were very friendly and helpful, the chef always willing to provide an alternative if the menu was not suitable.

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, activities were organised, and the residents encouraged to join in and meet new people.

After much research and numerous visits to care homes in the area, it was easy to make our final decision.
First impressions are always important, and the welcome given to me couldn't have been more friendly.
It is a difficult decision to move an elderly relative from part of the country to another, but Millers Grange made the transition as stress-free as possible for our relative and ourselves!
The standard of care at all levels is excellent, and the needs and requests of the resident are consistently taken into account. We were amazed when a lace-making group was found for our relative, and she was taken to the meeting. Trips out and about are readily available, and great care is taken to ensure she is able to get to appointments etc.

All aspects of our relative's care are of a consistently high standard, and we are safe in the knowledge, that everything is being done for her.

Overall Experience

My aunty spent two weeks in the care home, for respite over the Christmas period. She is in her mid 90's and comes from a generation of high expectations and standards. She has stayed in other care homes before and has 24/7 live-in care at home, but has never been wholly satisfied with any of them. Millers Grange was the exception. She spent two weeks there and was clearly very happy with the way she was looked after She commented that the food was very good and that the staff were particularly attentive and kind and would arrive very quickly when she rang her pager for assistance. She has commented that she intends to go back for further respite and potentially, for long term care.

A lovely place to be where all the staff are kind and supportive of my father-in-law. They treat Dad with respect and patience. Food is good, the home is very clean and well kept up and it feels like a private house/hotel rather than a care home. Each room is ensuite and of a good size where Dad is encouraged to personalise his room with his own effects. Nice people!

My mother has resided at Millers Grange for the past month. I have experienced a professional and caring approach to my Mother and myself. I fully expect this approach to continue and have praise for all staff at Millers Grange. It is a purpose-built Care Home and I’m sure this is helpful to us all.

I have found the staff of Millers Grange go the extra mile with respect to caring for their residents. The staff have helped my mother communicate with her friends via Facebook. The purpose-built home is always clean and welcoming. The food is freshly cooked and appetising. Picnic cool bags with packed lunches are provided for those with hospital or other appointments that clash with meal times.

My nan has settled in well at Millers Grange, and nothing is too much trouble for the staff.
The standards of the home are spot on from the care, cleanliness to the food. My nan is always dressed beautifully and smiling.
The staff have got to know her well, and she has developed good relationships with them, as have we as her family, and we thoroughly enjoy visiting her and are always made to feel very welcome.

She has been treated with dignity and respect even when she is unable to make decisions for herself and is having great fun at Millers Grange!

The staff are always very welcoming and friendly. My Aunt is always well dressed, clean and tidy. Since moving to Millers Grange she is a lot happier and more relaxed, and she has a good relationship with all the staff. All the staff keep me updated with how she's doing and keeps me informed of any appointments she has or when she has see the Dr/nurse. Millers Grange is an excellent care home for my Aunt.

My mother had been in the care home for just over one week. Following daily visits by myself and wife. We invited our son, his wife and our 2 granddaughters to see her. Having spent some time talking in her room we were approached by a member of the care team. We were aware that she struggled to eat in the previous days. He asked whether we could all join in a family lunch which we hoped would encourage her to eat, they laid on a wonderful spread and best of all she ate. Loved it.

I was looking for a small, friendly environment for my mother who will need more care than at present. I wanted somewhere that understood dementia and provided stimulating activities every day; somewhere she could get involved or just sit and chat. Millers Grange provided all of the above in a homely environment. The care home is new, therefore has modern facilities, comfortable, good sized rooms, great food, coffee bar, cinema room and outside garden space.

I know the cost of care is frightening, but this place is average cost, but of a better standard than others I have seen. I would not hesitate in recommending Millers Grange for short or long-term care.

My mother has only been resident for a couple of weeks but the care has been exemplary. The staff are friendly, enthusiastic and helpful.

At very short notice the home was able to host a family gathering for my mother's extended family. Four generations were present, everybody had a great time and a splendid buffet was provided.

My sister and I have no doubt that mum will be comfortable and well cared for here. It's just right for her!

My mother has recently moved into Millers Grange and I have nothing but praise for everything I've seen. The accommodation is faultless, the plentiful staff are all completely wonderful treating mum with the utmost care and attention. We held a family gathering a couple of days ago and all arrangements went like clockwork - they couldn't have been more accommodating with choice of room for the venue and the delicious spread that was provided.

It's a 10 out of 10 from all of us, without reservation. Well done Millers Grange!

I’ve worked in the care sector all my career, initially providing hands-on care and later in management roles.

I even worked with a previous Prime Minister to improve dementia care standards. While I’m not a political person, it was amazing to provide expertise at that level.

My favourite part of the day is my morning round, when I say hello to all the residents and find out how they’re doing, and ensure they’re ready for a good day. There’s always a buzz about the place.

As well as care expertise, this role demands great teamwork, a listening ear, empathy and the ability to act quickly. This is the residents’ home, so if they, or their family, give us feedback, it’s vital that we’re quick to respond. The same applies to the team. A lot of my role is to support them to develop their strengths and do their best work so they can enhance residents’ lives.
