Mum went to Buddleia House for respite care in January following a recommendation. Although not there for very long, Mum was very well cared for both physically and emotionally. The staff were very attentive and aware of her needs. I felt happy she was being so well looked after.

My mother-in-law has been at Buddleia House Care Home for six months now and we are very happy with the levels of care provided and how she has settled in. The staff at the home are all so committed and friendly and they have so many activities to keep all residents stimulated. The level of care provided
by the staff is exceptional and the communication with family is excellent. My mother-in-law is very happy at the home.
Reply from Michele Hoy, Administration at Buddleia House Care HomeThank you for your lovely review and kind words.
Your mum is a lovely lady who quickly settled into the Buddleia House family.
Our team of companions have worked together getting to know your mum during her time with us and following the Montessori principles to offer her the very best person-centred care.
Your mum likes to join in the activities she enjoys and is now part of our Buddleia House family. It is an absolute pleasure to care for your mum.
Thank you again for taking the time to complete this review and for your very kind words.

We were in need of emergency respite care. The manager and deputy went out of their way to ensure a smooth transition into care.
The staff were welcoming and friendly. One could tell from the atmosphere in the care home that this was a place people could feel safe and supported and call their home.
I was impressed with the facilities and activities on offer. I would highly recommend Buddleia House.

This review is somewhat odd in that due to Covid restrictions, we never visited Mum in her room or even in the "main body" of the home. At all times, we found the staff to be friendly and helpful. We were able to visit "via the window" initially and later in a designed Covid room. Mum always seemed
very happy and well cared for and appeared to have an excellent rapport with the staff.
Reply from Michele Hoy, Administration Manager at Buddleia House Care HomeThank you for taking the time to submit a review. It is very much appreciated, and we welcome all feedback. From the moment your mum moved into Buddleia House, she settled in and became part of our Buddleia House family. Always a smile and one for a laugh with a great sense of humor. She helped teach a number of our Companions to Knit, and enjoyed our parties and loved dancing. Thank you once again.

My husband went into Buddleia House on the 9th of May. The staff were wonderful to him. I could not believe it was a care home. We have been married for 64 years. I thought he would ask to come home. He never did. Even if a patient is disturbed, they are so gentle with them. I go home and never worry
because I know he has the best care possible.

I visited on Sunday 5th June as part of the platinum jubilee celebrations. The communal areas were bright, lovely and well designed. A lounge flanked by a garden room (light and airy) and a games room. The staff interacted with the residents in a friendly way and I noticed that they responded immediately
to any sign of distress or anxiety. The most impressive feature is a successful attempt to make it not institutional, whilst clearly meeting regulatory standards.
Reply from Catherine Naj-Dyke, Administration at Buddleia House Care HomeThank you for your kind words and review and we were pleased that you were able to come in and join with our Jubilee celebrations, which residents, staff and visitors all enjoyed. Our staff have been trained in the Montessori method and we use this to enable our residents to live their lives as fully as they are able, moving away from being in any way, institutional. We welcome any feedback and if there are any suggestions you would like to make please do not hesitate to get in touch, thank you.

I was extremely nervous about leaving my mum again, after an unsettled time previously. I had no reason to worry at all. From the initial call about availability and a reassuring chat with the manager, she put me at ease, talked me through the whole process, called back when she said and the process
started. Mum settled in well and is loving her time now, enjoying all the daily activities, so many things for them to do if they want to, from gardening to making ice cream sundaes, her health has improved so much, happiest I've seen her for a while. Smiling, like the mum I know. All of the staff at Buddleia house are so caring nothing false, they genuinely care. I know that my mum is safe, well cared for and happy, which means the world to me and my family. Visits have been well supervised and all precautions for a safe visit are taken and the process is easy to follow. If you are looking are a place that cares, Buddleia House is the place.

I have actually just recommended my auntie for a placement here.
Small and cosy care home. The food looks delicious thanks to the dedicated cook. The place is always spotless. The new tearoom looks great for the residents in the summer.
Will just be glad when we can go and visit properly again.

My sister was unable to speak in full sentences, she now holds part conversations and she's now happy smiling as her very wish is answered by the staff. She's always smartly dressed. Full personal care is given, nails and hair done and clean clothes. Finding this home for her was our wishes answered.
Thank you.

I have just come back from visiting my mother-in-law at Buddleia House and it never ceases to amaze me at the difference in her from when she arrived at the beginning of the year. She had been through the usual rounds of hospitals and halfway houses as well as trying to keep her in her own home, and
she was in an agitated, bewildered state. We had all had enough. Although visiting her is difficult at the moment we are delighted in the change in her. She is bright, healthy and continuing to give everyone a telling off, which is her usual bahaviour. She is 99 next birthday and I really think she could make the 100. When she went in I really thought she hadn't got long left. Whatever they are doing it is right.

My mother has moved in today. Choosing the right care home to replace one she had been happy and settled in was a very difficult decision. I chose Buddleia House because of the welcome received and sense of the level of care they will be able to offer Mum at 99. I hope we will not be disappointed, and
I am sure she will be loved and respected here in the say way as the previous care home.

I was recommended Buddleia House for my father by a customer of mine. Recommendations are always the best reviews and I couldn't be happier. The staff and management team have helped me and my family through all stages. They understood how difficult a decision this has been for us. I went to three different
care homes before here, but this is by far the best. It smells and 'is' clean. The food is first class. The staff are very attentive to not just my father's needs but to all residents. Five-star review.

It's such an emotional and difficult decision to make when choosing the right care home for your elderly and vulnerable parents. From the moment we stepped into Buddleia House we were met with a warm and welcoming feeling. The management took time to explain the facilities, activities and the care plans
they use. There is an array of stimulating activities geared up specifically for residents living with dementia. The home is beautifully furnished with attention to detail given to every area. Old photographs and artefacts help stimulate memories from yesteryear. My mother-in-law loves living here and has settled really well. Knowing she is happy and safe has really helped us relaxed too.

Mum had been at another home for three years before transferring to Buddleia House. The difference in her was immediately apparent. She was more alert and joined in with activities, something she hadn't done before. She moved to Buddleia with her best friend. They would sit together and hold hands,
it was lovely to see. It soon became apparent that the staff were very professional as they realised that Mum was a very private person, especially when bathing, they would cover her and treated her as an individual with dignity. That meant a lot to us. They were all so kind. When we lost Mum it was plain to see that the staff were as upset as we were. They all loved her as much as she loved them. In fact, four of the staff, including the Manager acted as pallbearers at her funeral which was lovely. As for the food its all home-cooked and delicious and appetizing as we have sampled it many times. There is always a cup of tea and a cake on offer, or a drink at the bar. The social evenings are great fun. It is a very family orientated environment. It is more like a social club. All in all a very comfortable relaxing place for the residents and family. 5 Stars.

Although Mum was only at Buddleia House for approx 4 months before sadly passing away, it was obvious Mum really enjoyed her stay. She was well-loved by the residents and staff, so much so four of the staff, including the Manager, acted as pallbearers at her funeral which I thought was a wonderful gesture.
We felt so privileged. They even catered for Mum's wake at the home. The home-cooked food and presentation were wonderful. We have spent many family evenings there I.e. A Greek evening, Italian evening, bonfire night. We celebrated Mum's best friend's 100th birthday. We have also been invited to several more events as we are officially on the Buddleia House list of friends which we feel honoured to be involved with. As for the building itself, the bedrooms lack for nothing. They even have an ensuite. The lounge dining room and pub - yes a pub are all beautifully decorated with lots of memory inducing books, photos and memorabilia. We were very impressed. In my opinion, it is without a doubt 5-star accommodation. I could go on but I am only allowed 200 words.

My father-in-law has been staying at your wonderful facility with fantastic staff. Although he has only recently started his stay, he is already saying he likes Buddleia House. I must admit that it is proving quite difficult for my wife to have her father stopping with you and not at home, however,
hopefully, time will ease this issue. A request would be for a regular outing provided by a member of staff for my father-in-law on a weekly basis if possible. Thank you for your continued support and helping my father-in-law settle in.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.902) out of 10 for Buddleia House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.902 for Buddleia House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (333 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 368 Ratings = 4.902
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Buddleia House Care Home is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2023

I have always known that I would find myself caring for others. At 19 I left college and worked in a few different social care settings before finding my passion in dementia care. I started as a care assistant and found myself as a Home Manager at 24 years old and haven't looked back since. I adore empowering people - residents and staff alike.

I am delighted to have joined Milford Care, as I have wanted to be part of Milford Care for some time now; I visited Buddleia House on its open day back in 2019 and I adore the home.’
