After years of caring for a family member, we have finally found a home that we are completely satisfied with. One of the hardest decisions we have made, but the correct one. The home is so friendly for residents & their families. We have been welcomed fully & become a family again, not full time carers.
When we visit on a regular basis, we see the wonderful care given to all residents & join in the fantastic activities planned.
Reply from Chloe Kenna, Customer Relations Manager at Fernleigh Court Care & Nursing HomeThank you so much for your kind review. We know how difficult that decision can be, and we're really honoured that you've trusted us with your loved one's care. It means a great deal to hear that you feel welcomed, supported, and part of our Fernleigh Court family. Your feedback truly means so much to our whole team.

My father has been a resident of Fernleigh Court Care and Nursing Home for just over 3 months. He has settled in really well and made lots of new friends. He joins in with the activities, of which there are plenty. The staff are very caring and gentle. They treat the residents like they are family and
with utmost respect. The facilities are spotlessly clean and of a very high standard. It is more like a hotel than a care home! It doesn't feel or smell like a care home! I have no complaints about any aspect of care here and it feels very safe and secure. There are nurses on each floor, 24 hours a day as well as other care staff. I would happily move in here myself! Mustn't forget to mention food! Absolutely first class!!

I cannot commend Fernleigh Court highly enough. The management team and staff have exemplary care to my father who received end of life care at Fernleigh. He was only there for a short time, but it gave all us tremendous comfort to see him in such safe and caring hands. Everyone showed such kindness
- to all of us - and treated my father with dignity and respect. The rooms food and facilities are of a very high standard complementing the excellent standard of care. I thank everyone for their care and kindness and would not hesitate to recommend Fernleigh Court to others.

Our dad spent 10 days with you, sadly he passed away quicker than we expected but during his time with you we found his care to be of the highest quality. Nothing was too much trouble and all of the staff had time not only for him but also for us.

The facilities were outstanding and our dad retained

his independence until 48 hours before he died.
On the day that he died staff were incredibly respectful and food would just arrive that we could help ourselves to as they continued to care for us.
I cannot thank everyone enough, from the care staff, to the cooks the cleaner and the laundry lady who cried when she heard that he had died. I would highly recommend the home.
Reply from Keeleigh Cox, Marketing Executive at Fernleigh Court Care & Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to share such a touching review. We are truly sorry for your loss and honoured to have cared for your dad during his final days. Your kind words about our staff, facilities, and the support shown to your family mean a great deal and will be shared with the team. Thank you for trusting us with your dad's care. Our thoughts are with you and your family.

My sister became a resident of Fernleigh Court Care & Nursing Home when diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, in the last two months of her life. The wonderful care, empathy and love shown to her by all staff was outstanding. All family and friends visiting her were amazed at the friendliness of all staff,

My husband was admitted to Fernleigh on 22nd Sept 2025 for end of life care. I could not have asked for a better nursing home for my husband to spend the last two weeks of his life. The manager completed his pre-assessment while he was in hospital, and from the first moment I met her, I knew he would
be in excellent care. On admission and for the weeks the weeks he was treated with the utmost care and respect from each and every one of the nursing and care staff. Fernligh will have my heartfelt thanks forever, my husband passed away 8/10/25.

I cannot fault the care, attention and compassion that my late husband received when he was at Fernleigh Court. He was so content during his stay. The facilities for residents are amazing and the families of residents are treated so well. We were kept up to date with any information regarding my late
husband and were always pro-active with any medical treatment that he needed.
I would like to say a big thank you to all the Fernleigh Court staff and would wholeheartedly recommend this care/nursing home.

Immediately upon arrival, we were greeted with friendly, helpful staff. My sister is very happy she enjoys the food being offered with choices. Since mum, who has dementia, has been in Fernleigh Court she has been looked after with compassion, kindness and gentleness. From being bedbound for the previous year or so, she is now out of bed sitting in her special chair and being encouraged to engage in social situations and in the daily events.
The friendly and helpful staff are always attentive to her needs and there is good communication between them and the family. One thing I have to mention was the surprise event the staff put on for my parents wedding anniversary with amazing decorations and an incredible afternoon tea. As a family we all say a huge Thank You to all at Fernleigh for everything you do for mum and also for looking after dad so well when he visits.

Mum was always treated with kindness & respect. Whenever I had any issues, they were always quickly resolved. Advocating for a family member isn't easy, but I was never made to feel uncomfortable or a nuisance when I flagged up problems. Mum always preferred the staff she had come to know well & these
relationships made her stay so much more bearable. she hated change & unfamiliar faces. The atmosphere in Fernleigh Court is very welcoming & friendly. The staff are always smiling & helpful.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.516)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.516) out of 10 for Fernleigh Court Care & Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 41 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.516 for Fernleigh Court Care & Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (368 Excellents x 5) + (70 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (34 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 486 Ratings = 4.516
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Fernleigh Court Care & Nursing Home is based on 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 37 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

These rewards are nothing in comparison to the feeling I get from delivering high-quality, delicious dishes to the residents of Fernleigh Court, Kempston and seeing their smiling faces when they enjoyed my food!

Above all, I am fanatical about cooking and want everyone to enjoy whatever dishes my team and I create!

Job Title: Receptionist Joined: 2019

My name is Michelle and I have been a receptionist here at Fernleigh Court since we opened in November 2019.

Before coming here, I used to volunteer at Bedford Central Club doing Bingo and organising weekly bands to come sing I’m a people person so I love it when my Bistro area is full of residents enjoying themselves with the various activities we have going on whilst enjoying our delicious cakes. I also enjoy puzzles and crosswords so you will often find me helping residents with their jigsaws.

My hobbies include reading (thank you Kindle Unlimited), eating Yorkshire pudding, walking my husky and going away in my caravan and I’m lucky enough to have visited some amazing places which have been recommended by some of our residents who love telling me of their adventures. I love star gazing with my Astrophotography mad son and I am often found at 3 am outside in the garden with a blanket!

I absolutely love my job here at Fernleigh Court and I am lucky enough to work with such amazing & caring people and consider myself very lucky to be working here.
