Baycroft is superb 10/10, 5 stars. Excellent in every way! Can't recommend it highly enough. This is the best care my friend has ever received. She settled in immediately and is so comfortable. A big thank you to all the staff, what a brilliant team. Should also add that visiting friends and family
are made to feel very welcome. Baycroft's hospitality is second to none.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.516) out of 10 for Fernleigh Court Care & Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 41 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.516 for Fernleigh Court Care & Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (368 Excellents x 5) + (70 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (34 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 486 Ratings = 4.516
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Fernleigh Court Care & Nursing Home is based on 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 37 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Head Chef Joined: 2021

I am a passionate and positive chef who beams pride and professionalism in all I do.

I have been a Head Chef for 25 years and am lucky enough to have worked in kitchens across the world including Sydney, Australia and Phuket, Thailand. I have cooked for several high-profile celebrities including Sir Elton John and Princess Diana.

My versatility has been an asset throughout my career and I have adapted to different environments having worked in hotels, gastropubs, high-end restaurants and now Fernleigh Court. I even spent 6 months cooking at Yarlswood Detention Centre!

I have mentored students from various local colleges and won a national purple umbrella award with my last apprentice. I also earned and retained a rosette for 3 years whilst working at a busy local hotel where I trained ‘Masterchef - The Professionals’ finalist, Louisa Ellis straight from catering college.

These rewards are nothing in comparison to the feeling I get from delivering high-quality, delicious dishes to the residents of Fernleigh Court, Kempston and seeing their smiling faces when they enjoyed my food!

Above all, I am fanatical about cooking and want everyone to enjoy whatever dishes my team and I create!

Job Title: Receptionist Joined: 2019

My name is Michelle and I have been a receptionist here at Fernleigh Court since we opened in November 2019.

Before coming here, I used to volunteer at Bedford Central Club doing Bingo and organising weekly bands to come sing I’m a people person so I love it when my Bistro area is full of residents enjoying themselves with the various activities we have going on whilst enjoying our delicious cakes. I also enjoy puzzles and crosswords so you will often find me helping residents with their jigsaws.

My hobbies include reading (thank you Kindle Unlimited), eating Yorkshire pudding, walking my husky and going away in my caravan and I’m lucky enough to have visited some amazing places which have been recommended by some of our residents who love telling me of their adventures. I love star gazing with my Astrophotography mad son and I am often found at 3 am outside in the garden with a blanket!

I absolutely love my job here at Fernleigh Court and I am lucky enough to work with such amazing & caring people and consider myself very lucky to be working here.
