I came here from hospital - very late at night and was treated with the greatest care and respect.
All staff work to help/support all who want or need it.
The rooms are ok but could certainly be better/improved.
Activities are varied and related to residents' needs.
Possibly/probably value for money.

My mum has settled in reasonably quickly, which is down to the excellent care. The staff are all lovely to Mum. The senior carers are all very professional and caring, plus easy to talk to. I do feel though that more domestic staff are needed to help clean the dining room after mealtimes, which would
free up the carers to aid the residents. The home is well maintained and is nice and modern, which Mum loves. The management are all friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. I feel happy knowing Mum is not only safe but happy. The fact that the home is all-inclusive makes it easier to manage.

Dad moved into the home as a result of poor mobility and really struggled with the transition, however, all the staff have been fantastic, so friendly and accommodating. Every accommodation has been made to make him comfortable and fulfil all his needs. Thank you so much to everyone.

Came here on 14.07.22 having had a couple of horrendous weeks at another home. Just wanted to die. Within two weeks of being here feeling so much better. Thanks to the care and attention of all the staff. Have always felt safe and secure here. Not afraid to call for ambulance assistance when it was
needed. Part of my health problem is 'swallowing normal meals'. The staff here have helped over come that by 'blending' all my food into a 'soup-like' consistency. Excellent home.

Polite and friendly staff. The home is clean and well-maintained. The food is good (I've even eaten there myself!). My Mum has been there just over a year and is very happy. I really don't think you can ask any more.

The change for the better with my friend since being here is remarkable. Everyone is very friendly and willing to help. Her bedroom is cosy whilst being scrupulously clean at all times. The meals are tasty and satisfying with a good variety of choices. I would recommend this care home to everyone, it
is a home-from-home with added extras.

During the first few days of January 2023, my father became ill with a chest infection. This worsened and eventually required four courses of antibiotics. As a result of the illness my father's mental capacity - in particular, his short term memory has declined significantly. Throughout this difficult
time, he has received excellent care from all the staff at Woodthorpe Lodge. Carers have been quick to identify his rapidly changing needs, calling for medical help and ensuring that he received timely medication. In addition, support staff have also been extremely helpful in assuring that my father's changing needs have been provided for and they have helped us, his family, to play our part in his care - Thank you!

Not a very good experience for my dad. His dietary needs were not met and medication was not ordered when it ran out. He basically spent six weeks respite in his room, his choice as in the dining room they were all dementia sufferers and nobody would talk to him. I spoke to management the day he went
in regarding the chair being moved, support being put on the side of the bed and a chair being put in the bathroom so he could wash himself and nothing was done for the first two - though a chair in the bathroom did appear at some stage.

My dad stayed in the Ideal Care home in Loughborough, near Quorn, for a month after a bout in hospital following complications from Covid. This care home was awful. The manager didn't seem to care about the residents at all. We picked my father up and the manager didn't see us off but instead was stood
around smoking outside with some other members of staff.
Most, if not all, of the other members of staff, were very well-intentioned but run off of their feet/the management of the care home was so bad that they couldn't deal with the resident's needs. My father has Parkinson's disease and needs his medication at specific times and they were hours late with his medication multiple times. He would press the help button and would not get assistance for a long period of time. He was not allowed to make a cup of tea but when he asked or was offered one it arrived eventually and was cold. I would not recommend this care home at all and don't understand the good reviews.

I brought my dad here for some temporary respite, he was due to stay for four weeks until strong enough to return to his bungalow.
Unfortunately, after only one day/night he was taken to the hospital due to blood issues that were in need of more specialized attention.
During this brief period, all
the staff at Woodthorpe Lodge were brilliant, attentive, supportive and efficient.
My dad could not have been in better hands.
Sadly, my dad was unable to return to enjoy the facilities this home has to offer as he passed away some six weeks later.
The support from all at the home was excellent and incredibly generous and I want to thank everyone on behalf of my dad and my family.

What an amazing team you have at Woodthorpe Lodge! My mother arrived at the care home in March and sadly died yesterday. Yes, there were one or two issues along the way but my interactions with both carers and management were always met with openness, a willingness to discuss issues and find solutions
and ongoing politeness. It was obvious how much the carers cared and they treated Mum with kindness, respect, concern and smiles. It helped her to feel safe and secure whilst retaining her dignity through the final challenging months of her life. My sincere thanks to all the staff at Woodthorpe Lodge for helping Mum so well, they helped me so much too.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.166)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.166) out of 10 for Woodthorpe Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.166 for Woodthorpe Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (157 Excellents x 5) + (117 Goods x 4) + (32 Satisfactorys x 3) + (8 Poors x 2) + (18 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 332 Ratings = 4.166
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodthorpe Lodge is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

To me, kind care means slow down listen and really engage. Just remember that the person in front of you is someone's Mum, Dad, or Grandparent. Always have it in the back of your mind that it could be your loved one - or even you!
