Management and Front of House staff are very polite and friendly, and any queries which we raised through emails to the managers are swiftly dealt with. Mum appreciates the pampering opportunities, hair care, nail treatments etc. We do feel that mum does not engage in too many activities which we feel
would enhance her lifestyle, perhaps the staff could push, use inclusion a little more, albeit difficult, I know.
Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Woodthorpe LodgeDear Mark, Thank you so much for your lovely review of our home. We truly appreciate your kind words and are glad to hear your positive feedback. Regarding your comments about encouraging Mum to join in activities, we understand that some residents may feel a little reluctant. To support this, we offer a 1-to-1 activity programme tailored to individual preferences and comfort levels. We would like to invite you to a care plan meeting with the family to discuss a more personalised approach to activities for Mum.

Overall, the experience is good, but in order to give feedback to improve:
- Some medical appointments have been missed as I have not been notified.
- Dad's room is too clattered with nappies etc. As this is his living space, finding a different storage approach would be preferable.
Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Woodthorpe LodgeThank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to make improvements where required. We have taken on board your comments and are grateful to you for giving us the opportunity to improve our services. We will certainly find alternative storage for your dad's continence products going forward and we sincerely apologise for any previously missed appointments. If you wish to discuss your concerns further, please do not hesitate to contact the Home direct.

Mum has thoroughly enjoyed her time at Woodthrope Lodge. The staff have all been extremely helpful and supportive of her and her direct family. We have all enjoyed visiting Woodthoorpe Lodge as it's very inviting, very clean and always well-presented. Whenever we have asked for things to be done for
Mum, they have been very quick to oblige. I would recommend Woodthorpe Lodge as a care facility.

Since experiencing this care home I find it outrageous the way certain members of staff, in particular, the woman with dark hair and glasses show little or no respect to my wife, the staff are always on their phones instead of doing the basic tasks they are paid to do!
On a recent visit, the aforementioned
member of staff repeated in a very sarcastic way to other members of staff my conversation to my mother-in-law.
Let's get this right this is not a tree service the costs are high you would expect to be treated in a respectful and courteous manner by all staff.
It is not all staff but the ones that are bad are terrible.
And how can this business be allowed to get staff to write reviews surely a conflict of interest.
We have visited and my mother-in-law only had on a dressing gown nothing else and was covered in dried on excrement maybe this home needs investigating.

I have been very impressed with all aspects of the care home. My dad's room is very well-appointed and is always clean and tidy. The meals are of a high standard and my dad always enjoys them. All staff are polite, professional and exceptionally helpful. The building itself is very well equipped and
kept immaculately.

I have been a resident here since 06/12/2023. On the whole, it is a lovely place and the staff are nice. It is better now I am able to lock my room as I was having trouble with other residents coming in and moving my stuff. It's nice that I can enjoy doing my own thing in my room or join in the activities
if I want to. I love attending the church service. My only worry is that my bin doesn't get emptied every day which is not nice as I am incontinent and use it for my pads.

I came here from hospital - very late at night and was treated with the greatest care and respect.
All staff work to help/support all who want or need it.
The rooms are ok but could certainly be better/improved.
Activities are varied and related to residents' needs.
Possibly/probably value for money.

My mum has settled in reasonably quickly, which is down to the excellent care. The staff are all lovely to Mum. The senior carers are all very professional and caring, plus easy to talk to. I do feel though that more domestic staff are needed to help clean the dining room after mealtimes, which would
free up the carers to aid the residents. The home is well maintained and is nice and modern, which Mum loves. The management are all friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. I feel happy knowing Mum is not only safe but happy. The fact that the home is all-inclusive makes it easier to manage.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.433)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.433) out of 10 for Woodthorpe Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.433 for Woodthorpe Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (186 Excellents x 5) + (76 Goods x 4) + (22 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 298 Ratings = 4.433
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodthorpe Lodge is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

To me, kind care means slow down listen and really engage. Just remember that the person in front of you is someone's Mum, Dad, or Grandparent. Always have it in the back of your mind that it could be your loved one - or even you!
