I would like to say first visit to see Anne and my first impression is how lovely it is here. Such friendly, kind staff. Catering is great and we are currently enhoying the wonderful gardens with tea and cake. I have not seen Anne so settled in such a long time - thank you.

Mum received wonderful care at Poets mews, every member of staff, in all roles were kind, respectful, caring and professional. As a family, right down to Great Grandchildren, we were welcomed and supported. The Great Grandchildren nicknamed Poets Mews 'Nanas Hotel'. Mum's every need was attended to and more with activities and entertainment. Thank you Poets Mews

Poets Mews is a truly lovely care home. We were really impressed from the first time we looked around. Mum is well looked after by the friendly, attentive staff. It's a huge help to us to know she is happy in this safe and calm environment. The home puts on lots of entertainment and activities for the residents. A really great place!

If you are looking for a care home in North Somerset for your loved one I cannot recommend Poet Mews highly enough.
We were so lucky to have mum stay for 2 weeks respite and from our initial show round until the day she came home we had first class service. Every member of staff (reception, admin, carers, kitchen, house keeping, activities & entertainment) treated mum with care, respect and dignity making her stay easy for us. We knew she was in exceptional hands so did not worry about her.
We also were treated the same on every visit, nothing was too much trouble and visiting was made easy for us.
The facilities are first class and mum felt like she was on holiday in a 5* hotel. So many spaces to break out into on a visit with refreshments always available. The rooms are bright and spacious with plenty of room for personal belongings to make it feel like home.
Daily activities kept mum busy and entertained. Lovely gardens too.

This is an exceptional home and would be my first choice

Needed to place mother in law in Poets Mews for 2 weeks respite care. From the initial call, having a walk round of the home right through to settling her in, I cannot praise the staff highly enough. Nothing was too much trouble. The home is clean, tidy and as good as any 5 star hotel I've stayed in.

However, the best part of the whole process was the staff. They treated her, and us, with dignity, kindness and above all caring. Thank you so much for looking after her.

Mum has been at Poets Mews for a few months now. When she arrived she was very reluctant to be there. Since then she has, unfortunately, had several stays in hospital. I cannot fault the staff for their attentiveness and care in getting Mum the help she needed every time she needed to go into hospital. Absolutely fantastic and made us, her family, feel so reassured knowing that she was in the best hands possible. Thank you. Now that Mum is back in the care home, she is much happier and knows herself that it is the best place for her to be. She is fond of several of the staff, gets involved in as many of the great activities as she can, loves having her hair done by the hairdresser and enjoys going up to the cinema to see a film. She has made a few friends as well. Us as a family also feel very welcome when we visit. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional.

My father in law has been in Poets Mews nearly 3 years.
After initially enjoying his stay in the residential wing he's now in the nursing section after a long stay in hospital. The improvement in his health after that hospital stay has been great and is down to the wonderful nursing team in that area.
We've found the management team, nursing team and all the staff so professional, kind, approachable and caring.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Poets Mews to anyone, be it for residential, respite, nursing or dementia care.

Keep up the great work team PM. 10/10 from us!

The Care our mum receives at Poets Mews is excellent. In particular the range of activities are brilliant. The Food is wonderful and the accommodation is like a hotel.
We always feel welcome and part of mum's experience.
Issues that I would like improved :
*more one to one talking and walking with mum, residents should have at least 45 mins a day when staff talk with them and walk them around to keep them mobile
*when there is an activity- remembering to get mum to it,
*more care on personal hygiene ( teeth brushing and nail cleaning in particular),

*more active watching of TV. The Lounge TV is often on pause when I visit and it should be that someone ensures that there is always something on in the TV room.

Reply from Julie Bees, Manager at Poets Mews Care Home - Avery Healthcare

Thank you for your lovely comments and for your feedback. We have now purchased an additional TV for the main lounge and the previous TV, which is also an activity table, has now been set up as the activity table for permanent use as that.

Poets Mews you make a difference and especially when it really counts. Many thanks to Ian who went out of his way today to take Dad to a hospice in Bristol to see his wife on her birthday., and to all the wonderful team that helped make it happen. We can't thank you enough.

From reception to personal care, senior nursing staff to management and a special mention to Jude in entertainment. You are all amazing.

My father was lucky enough to move into Poets Mews in Sept 2025 after a fairly long illness. During the 3 months of his stay until he sadly passed away, his care was second to none. The staff were exemplary and looked after my dad as if they were family. In fact evey single member of staff was utterly professional and also just lovely, caring people who couldn't do enough for Dad, or us, his family. I know that my dad felt extremely at home at Poets Mews, he wanted for nothing, their attention to detail and patience was heartwarming. Towards the end, the team rallied around us and made such a sad time loving and respectful. As a family, we can't thank everyone at Poets Mews enough for their support when my dad passed away recently and for their wonderful continued care of my mom. Thank you, everyone, from the bottom of our hearts.

My mother has positively rallied since joining Poets Mews in April 2025. Staff on Mum's wing are friendly and genuinely liked by my mum. I personally appreciate how attentive staff are to Mum's needs, ensuring she is active in the mornings but can rest when she needs to as well. Very grateful to Poets Mews responding quickly to any medical needs Mum has expressed in her short time there - I would thoughourly recommend Poets Mews to any familities needing peace of mind for the care of older relatives.

Very warm welcome on arrival.
All staff very friendly and helpful.
Room and communal areas spotlessly clean.
Food really good, excellent choices.
The summer fayre was entertaining.

Only negative was being woken during the nights by a resident shouting loudly for a nurse.

My mum had a 2 week respite stay following surgery. The staff were very welcoming, attentive and caring from

the start. The bedroom was lovely, the garden was beautiful and all the facilities were very well kept and clean. Overall the food was good but some days were better than others. The hairdresser was lovely and my mum enjoyed watching a film in the cinema room. The only negative is there was a very noisy resident on my mums floor who was shouting at night, this only happened once or twice. My mum would definitely stay here again as her overall experience was very positive. The stay helped her recuperate and improve in readiness to go home.

The building is fantastic with plenty of parking. All area's are beautifully decorated and kept immaculate.

However, the bad points are the food is often served cold, the staff seem unhappy. I asked for my father's medication to be given early evening rather than waking him past 9pm every night.
This took 3 requests before it was actioned.
My father was often left alone in his room and as he was confused about how to work the TV was left sitting staring at the walls. I asked if staff could turn the tv or dvd on and was left feeling I'd asked for too much.
Lastly my dad had a fall & taken to hospital where it transpired he'd had a urinal infection which caused dizziness. The staff told us before he was allowed back he'd need an assessment.

We were not contacted by the staff but eventually my mum found out that they had done the assessment and he'd need nursing care & he'd have to find a new nursing home as they were full. This bombshell dropped on a frail 87 yr old lady. Poor show

We visited our auntie yesterday and what a beautiful place. Very friendly and helpful staff, bright and cheery and it felt so welcoming. Our auntie's room was lovely, everything was clean and everywhere we went was spotless. All the residents we met seemed very happy and very well cared for. Our auntie had a short stay (10 days) and she seemed very settled and comfortable. A wonderful place, thank you for looking after her so well.

Poets Mews Care Home is very light and open, kept very clean and staff are very friendly and approachable. Management are contactable and communicate through online meetings and email. Residents are treated with kindness and respect and their room spaces are respected, with knocks before entering. Mum seems to spend time on her own in her room and we are not sure how much encouragement she receives from staff to be more sociable and involved with daily activities. Overall, we are very pleased with Mum's care.
