My mother has been a resident at Hazel End for nearly 3 years. The home not only more than meets our needs, but the staff always manage to be able to go the extra mile. In our dealings with the management, any issues that we have raised have been resolved to the best of their ability instantly, which I must state is no mean feat with the number of residents and staff whom at some time must need issues resolved. I feel I made an excellent choice choosing Hazel End. Alan.

I cannot fault the staff and management. I feel safe here, they go out of their way to help you in every way they can. Nothing is too much for them to help you in any way that they can. The house keeping team I cannot fault. I would recommend Hazel End Care Home to anyone thinking of coming into care.

There have been quite a few changes in caring and other staff, but seem to have gone through smoothly without affecting residents. Continuity of staff and routines is of paramount importance to residents suffering from Dementia/Alzheimer's conditions, and this has been handled by management and care staff most admirably. Thank you

My 2 months in this care home have been favourable, especially due to the help from the staff members.

The guidance and health care has been very very supportive and personal to me. I have enjoyed the activities with the rest of the members of staff and residents here. The quality of the facilities available adds to the overall enjoyment of my time here. It's a very nice home to stay in.

The home has stimulated my dad and kept him going for the last couple of years but it's the little things that have stopped me give excellent all round. I've had to remind cares on more than one occasion to do things that I don't find acceptable.

Hazel End is a very welcoming and friendly home. The home is of a very high standard in care, cleanliness, private facilities and friendly communal areas.
The medical care and support are very good and any NHS service is arranged quickly whenever needed.
For me, one of the best facilities is the lifestyle ladies, who offer residents daily activities to keep them active and entertained.
I love reading the daily social posts which provide comfort whenever I spot my mother taking part. The lifestyle team celebrates any special day, holiday, or birthday so something is happening every day.
The food is mostly very good.

Both mum and I find the staff very helpful, friendly and supportive.

My dad has been here since February and after a few teething problems he's very happy here. There are 4 very special staff who Dad loves as do I!

I think the food could improve slightly and the cleaning regime could do with improving but overall it's a lovely care home with lovely staff and as long as Dad is happy that's the main thing.

Hazel End is a modern care home, which almost feels like a hotel and has been our mother's home now for almost a year. After a period of adapting she now seems much happier and settled than before. There is a range of activities that seems to cater to everyone. The staff are very friendly, caring and responsive to requests. Visiting can be at any time and we are always welcomed with a smile.

My mum moved to Hazel End a few months ago. All the staff have been amazing, friendly, welcoming, reassuring, helpful, and understanding. Care staff are always willing to discuss my concerns and answer any questions I might have about Mum. Any issues have been sorted out quickly. The care home is lovely and modern. More like a hotel and less like the care homes of old. Mum is still 'settling in' so things are difficult at times but I know I made the right decision and that Mum is being well looked after. Thank you to all (including 'behind the scenes staff' that I never see).

Hazel End is a real home from home, I often describe it as a little hotel which is always warm and cosy. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and they go the extra mile to organise daily activities to keep the residents occupied and entertained. The staff are fond of Mum and she couldn't be anywhere better in my view.

As a family we have been most impressed by Hazel End’s care for our mother. Carers assess her needs on a daily basis and treat her as an individual and allow her to be herself. The care has been professional and kind and our mother regards Hazel End as her home, largely due to the family atmosphere fostered by carers. The senior carers are exemplary in their understanding of her needs and their willingness to meet them.

Well - a very pleasant surprise. The home has only been open a few years. Lovely and modern - pet guinea pig in the foyer. Treated it to its lunch - great! Staff very friendly. Thought the place perfect. One staff member in particular was very attentive. Could not wish for more to be honest.

We had the very difficult decision to put my auntie in the care home last July. There was a few hiccups as my auntie ended up in hospital before she had the opportunity to visit the home but the staff where incredible and liaised with the hospital in London to have her transported up here to Bishops Stortford. All staff showed her compassion and a genuine care to her needs at arrival and every day since.

The home have a schedule of activities to keep the residents occupied and engaged through the week and our family has really enjoyed the celebrations, inviting families in to share with their loved ones.

Outstanding care from every member of the staff including those not directly involved in dad’s care (housekeeping, reception, kitchen etc). Carers are very well aware of dads needs and understanding of his Alzheimer’s. They encourage him and support him in every possible way. As soon as we visit, we get an update on how he is doing, from every member of the staff we meet on the way to visit him. We could not recommend Hazel End Care Home highly enough. A very happy and supportive home.

Claire SparksJob Title Care ManagerJoined 2019

My Name is Claire Sparks and I am the Home Manager at Hazel End Care Home,

I have worked in care for 9 years starting off in the community and then coming to Hazel End just before we opened our doors.

Prior to working in care, I worked in the hospital as a domestic and one lady thanked me for supporting her and she sadly passed away. This really made me rethink and I was proud of myself for supporting her and had a sense of fulfilment for how grateful she was.

I started working at Hazel End as a Senior Carer, I progressed to Deputy Manager then Care Manager and now Home Manager. I have learnt so much working at Hazel End Care Home and progressed within the home. I'm proud to support our residents and make each day enjoyable living with us.

Kerry Jeffrey
Kerry JeffreyJob Title Team LeaderJoined 2021

My name is Kerry Jeffrey and I am a Team Leader at Hazel End Care Home.

I started working in the care sector 15 years ago after seeing the support my dad had from the nursing team before he passed away. I felt I wanted to give something back to the community and joined a local care team working in the community as a senior carer and then as an area lead. I then moved onto the local hospital working on the wards as an assistant but wanted to get back to the care side of things, so went back out into the community with a hospital at home team until Covid struck. I then applied to work at Hazel End Care Home as a senior carer. This was my first time in a care home, and I loved the close-knit teamwork that you get compared to being out on your own.

I have now been at Hazel End for 4 years and in that time, I have worked my way up to Deputy Manager. When taken over by Anchor I took on the role of Team Leader so I was able to support staff daily on the floor. I like the position I am in as it gives me the opportunity to be a role model for new starters.
