My Uncle stayed at Hazel End for two weeks of respite care in January. The staff instantly made him feel very welcome and were supportive the whole way through. Every time I visited I was also made to feel very welcome, the staff were so pleasant and couldn't do enough for us. My Uncle was encouraged to join in all activities and it was nice to know when I wasn't there lots of things were going on and he had staff to comfort him (also my cousin, in particular, was at ease and could enjoy her holiday knowing her dad was in a safe, friendly place). The facilities at the home are amazing, we liked the sky bar in particular and the tea room was always a nice to place to sit and have a drink and slice of cake or a pastry. My only comment would be that there wasn't a decaf tea option, unfortunately, however, they did advise they would place these on their order. My Uncle will definitely be staying here again when required - and I look forward to the warm environment and possibly a decaf tea!

Hazel End Care Home is a modern home from home. The care, love and attention that my aunt receives is second to none. She is treated like a friend, not just a resident. The staff are professional, kind and understanding. Each and every member of staff goes above and beyond all expectations. I haven't seen my aunt this happy in a long time. It's a relief to leave my aunt in a safe and happy home from home. Many thanks Hazel End.

Overall Experience
An excellent choice for my Fathers first respite care break. Dad really enjoyed being made a fuss of, and I felt very happy in leaving him in such capable and caring hands. The senior carer who got Dad settled in had a wonderful way with us and made the whole experience pleasant.
The quality of the rooms, food and general surrounds is first class, this is a newly opened care home that has been finished to a very high standard indeed.
All the caring staff seem to really work well as a team and are very helpful, providing a personal touch during Dad's stay.
Points for improvement would be, communication at the first level, several of my emails and a couple of calls not returned. Payment by bank transfer or cheque only, waiting on a receipt for payment, very limited, TV channels with no cable in rooms, check-in procedure lengthy due to duplicate questions from when Dad was first assessed. Was asked to provide coat hangers(they found some in the end).

Other than the above: Excellent.

Claire SparksJob Title Care ManagerJoined 2019

My Name is Claire Sparks and I am the Home Manager at Hazel End Care Home,

I have worked in care for 9 years starting off in the community and then coming to Hazel End just before we opened our doors.

Prior to working in care, I worked in the hospital as a domestic and one lady thanked me for supporting her and she sadly passed away. This really made me rethink and I was proud of myself for supporting her and had a sense of fulfilment for how grateful she was.

I started working at Hazel End as a Senior Carer, I progressed to Deputy Manager then Care Manager and now Home Manager. I have learnt so much working at Hazel End Care Home and progressed within the home. I'm proud to support our residents and make each day enjoyable living with us.

Kerry Jeffrey
Kerry JeffreyJob Title Team LeaderJoined 2021

My name is Kerry Jeffrey and I am a Team Leader at Hazel End Care Home.

I started working in the care sector 15 years ago after seeing the support my dad had from the nursing team before he passed away. I felt I wanted to give something back to the community and joined a local care team working in the community as a senior carer and then as an area lead. I then moved onto the local hospital working on the wards as an assistant but wanted to get back to the care side of things, so went back out into the community with a hospital at home team until Covid struck. I then applied to work at Hazel End Care Home as a senior carer. This was my first time in a care home, and I loved the close-knit teamwork that you get compared to being out on your own.

I have now been at Hazel End for 4 years and in that time, I have worked my way up to Deputy Manager. When taken over by Anchor I took on the role of Team Leader so I was able to support staff daily on the floor. I like the position I am in as it gives me the opportunity to be a role model for new starters.
