During our initial visit to Richmond having seen two other care homes the most outstanding deciding aspect of Richmond Manor was the relationship between staff and residents. Very respectful in fact we would say that both the staff and building were very respectful towards the residents.

My mum has been in Richmond Manor for over a year now. She has dementia and she feels this is her home. When I have taken her out she is very content and settled when we return. The staff are wonderful and it's like a family for her now.
The worry I had when Mum lived on her own now has gone. With
a 24 hour nurse too and any problems they will contact me immediately or they will ring to say they have delt with the situation (doctors) etc.
Mum is in a beautiful, clean home with a caring environment and lots of people to talk to.
I am very happy because she is.
Reply from Jacqueline Brown, Regional Community Relations Lead at Richmond Manor Care HomeThank you for writing such a lovely review of our home. I am so glad that the team have helped put your mind at ease! Mum is a very important member of our Richmond family, thank you for trusting us with her care. I will pass your wonderful feedback across to all members of the team within the home.

The team at the home have made the transition to being a resident, very easy for my aunt. After living alone for many years, we were concerned how difficult the move would be for her. Her room and care have been managed extremely well, so she is comfortable and can engage with other residents as much
as she wishes. The facilities are excellent and she is enjoying the company and routine.
Reply from Jacqueline Brown, Regional Community Relations Lead at Richmond Manor Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review of Richmond Manor. I am glad to hear that your aunt has settled into her new home. We strive to ensure the transition into Richmond Manor is as smooth as possible for the residents and families. I will pass your lovely comments across to the team. Thank you again!

The room was comfortable and clean. The bed linen needed to be changed more regularly. The laundry service arrangement was erratic with a satisfactory end result. Several days running out of supplies ie marmalade/coffee should have been avoided. We would be happy to return anytime and our personal thanks
to all the staff for their kindness etc. Lovely atmosphere, lovely staff, again our thanks.

I have found the staff (especially the Manger and the Nurse with whom I have had the most contact) to be supportive and kind to both my parents. They have also been informative regarding the care and support plan needed and provide excellent feedback and information to me and my family. We are reassured
that our parents are safe and well looked after in a very clean and beautiful home. Many many thanks.

Mum needed 24 hour nursing care and rather than being admitted to hospital, we agreed and worked with the district nurse team to place mum in Richmond Manor Care home for respite nursing care. The Richmond Manor management team and staff could not have made this easier to achieve. The home is beautiful
and immaculate. All the nursing care and everyone that was involved in nursing our mum fulfilled her needs and beyond. Everyone was so caring and supportive of those needs she required. Thank you for all your support and for looking after our beautiful mum.
Reply from Hannah Mills, Regional Community Relations Lead at Richmond Manor Care HomeThank you so much for your review. Mum had a fall and needed full-time care. She had previously visited Richmond Manor and liked it. Because she had been in A&E she had to isolate for two weeks which was difficult for her. The staff were very cooperative in helping mum through this time. Now out of isolation, she is beginning to settle
into this community.

We started looking at care homes two months before needed, Richmond Manor being the first and last, as all the members of staff were very welcoming. The home was spotless and very well run. My partner has now been in there four months and is receiving all the help needed which is giving me great peace
of mind. The staff are always giving me updates on my partner's welfare and are prepared to listen to my points of view. Any concerns I raise are swiftly dealt with.

Mum moved into Richmond Manor when it opened in August 2020. Over the past 8 months, we have seen her regain her smile and develop great relationships with all the staff. Although communication is difficult for mum, they now know her so well and Richmond Manor is now her home. Despite being very disabled,
Mum has the opportunity to take part in everything that goes on in the home as and when she wishes. Mum is very happy and we are so pleased and grateful to have found a care home that we can trust implicitly.

Mum was not keen on becoming a carehome resident but due to her increasing frailty, it was no longer possible for her to remain safely outside residential care. Since joining Richmond Manor she has become socially integrated with fellow residents and homemakers. She enjoys their company and the daily
activities, ranging from baking, quizzes and film nights. Her care cannot be faulted and the food served in the beautiful dining room mum says is excellent. The quality of the home's decor, fixtures and fittings are exceptional. The Manor has also made great efforts to support family contact by erecting a perspex screen wall into one of the ground floor lounges so visitors can enter from the garden door. Although you cannot touch each other, with the aid of a microphone you can have a good natter and catch up on each other's news and activities. Whenever we meet the staff they all have a smile and happy words, and when we see them with mum there is gentleness in their interaction with her.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.739)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.739) out of 10 for Richmond Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 32 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.739 for Richmond Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (310 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 376 Ratings = 4.739
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Richmond Manor Care Home is based on 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 69 registered maximum number of service users is 13.8, which has been reached with 30 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
