When I arrived at Old Sarum Manor, I was warmly greeted by the staff on duty and given a full tour of the building and all its facilities which I found absolutely excellent. Once I settled into my new home, I found the hands-on staff extremely friendly and really professional and obviously trained to
a very high standard. Overall, I am really happy here and feel quite at home, in my new home.

My Dad was always very reluctant to even consider moving into a care home, despite struggling on his own for several years - however, following a short illness last summer, the decision was made for us. Since moving into Old Sarum Manor, I can honestly say it was the best decision we could have ever
made! Dad absolutely loves it there. The accommodation is simply beautiful and the staff are extremely kind, caring and attentive. The food is far superior to any other facility we considered for Dad and always looks like it’s come straight from the kitchen of a Michelin Star restaurant! Dad is always telling me he can’t believe how lucky he feels to be there and says it’s like living in a 5 Star hotel. He is clearly much happier and certainly much healthier than he has been for years. I always imagined I would feel guilty “putting my Dad in a care home”, but I am so grateful he is where he is.
Reply from Claire Lousteau, General Manager at Old Sarum ManorThank you very much for your feedback and for such kind comments. It is an absolute pleasure to have your dad with us and we are very happy you feel you have made the right decision. The health and happiness of our residents is our number one priority so it is very good to hear you feel we are doing a good job and we will pass your feedback on to our wonderful team. Thank you also for such amazing feedback on our food! It is something we take great pride in and our Head Chef works extremely hard to please our residents. It has also been a pleasure to get to know you and we are very glad you are making good use of our beautiful COVID-safe garden room to visit your dad.

Dad was warmly welcoming into Old Sarum Manor. He feels well cared for and comfortable. Our family is also warmly welcomed each time we visit Dad in the lovely garden room. All the staff are kind and compassionate. They wanted to know all about Dad, his preferences and passions. He has formed easy relationships
with his carers. Dad's health has improved considerably since living at Old Sarum Manor. He enjoys a high standard of cuisine. He is confidently exploring his impressive surroundings. He takes his meals in a beautiful restaurant, his tea in a charming tea room and a glass of wine in the sky bar. He says, 'life's good'.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Dad has been at Old Sarum Manor for three months now and is very happy with the home and particularly with the staff providing his care. This is not the first care home Dad has stayed at within the Salisbury area, but it definitely is the best we have tried. The home is new, very well furnished and
his room is perfect for his needs with a spacious ensuite bathroom. It hasn't been the best time to find a long term home for Dad, but the staff have been extremely helpful and have taken every precaution to keep him safe. Additionally, they have ensured we can see and speak to Dad, as well as being able to visit him in the Garden Room, fitted with screens to keep him safe. The food, together with the odd glass of wine, has been exceptional and is something that makes the choice of Old Sarum Manor as a long term home very easy. The support and attention provided by Old Sarum Manor has been much appreciated, making the move into long term care easier than expected and a relief to see him so happy.
Reply from Claire Lousteau, General Manager at Old Sarum ManorThank you very much for giving us such wonderful feedback. Your kind words have thrilled us all and we are so glad that your Dad has settled in so well. We are delighted that the visiting Garden Room has proved such a success and that Dad is loving the food our chefs prepare for him each day. We look forward to welcoming you into our home to enjoy the excellent food with him at some stage, hopefully soon! We take great pride in delivering high-quality care, as well as keeping our residents safe and happy, and your recognition of this is invaluable to the team.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.782)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.782) out of 10 for Old Sarum Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.832 for Old Sarum Manor is calculated as follows: ( (181 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 214 Ratings = 4.832
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Old Sarum Manor is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
