I was nervous in the early days but was soon made to feel at home by all the staff and became one of the family. Nothing was ever too much trouble.

Mum has been a resident at Harrier House for 2 years now, she seems very happy doing many different activities with the wonderful staff who are very friendly. She enjoys the delicious food (and has put on about 2 stone in weight). My husband and I enjoy the special events they hold most months, we cannot fault this lovely care home, ts the best one we have been to visit so far.

Absolutely brilliant! Harrier House gives 5-star treatment to each and every resident (and their visiting families). Its decor is stunning (akin to a luxury hotel). The food is amazing (and ample). Staff at all levels give 100% and more. The care and dignity bestowed is unbeatable with the utmost cleanliness and empathy and compassion. It's such a joy to know my mother has the very best.

For the past eighteen months my partner has been into Harrier House for regular respite, every time he goes in we are welcomed warmly, he stays for two weeks and during that time he is looked after very well and treated with care and dignity, which puts my mind at ease knowing he's safe and secure, he stays in a lovely clean bedroom, the food looks delicious, and he can attend activities through the day. Recently we had a crisis in the family, the manager was informed and she went out of her way to help and guide us to get the help and support we needed, so yes I would certainly recommend this home to family and friends, as I am so grateful for all their help.

Review from Karen A (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 4 January 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

I have nothing but praise and respect for both the management and staff at Harrier House. The standards, genuine care and respect for dignity far exceeded my expectations when my father-in-law became a resident two years ago. The staff managed to get him involved in all sorts of activities, even singing in a choir at Christmas, and really gave him a second lease of life which at the age of 96 is no mean feat. Even when his age got the better of him and he had to be admitted to hospital, the staff agreed to have him back to make his last days as comfortable and reassuring as possible for which I shall always be grateful. The premises are beautifully designed and equipped but it is always the staff that will make the difference at any care home and I cannot praise the management and staff at Harrier House highly enough for the way they cared for my father-in-law over the last two years.

Flexible and attentive staff. Individualised patient care. Wide range of activities available.
Staff sit with residents in the lounge area when writing notes. Considerate, helpful, and always with a welcoming smile.

Staff have done so much to make my grandad feel at home and supported, their immediate goal seems to be to establish a friendship with the residents, which is a wonderful change from most places who have a clear definition of staff and patient.

My mum has been at Harrier House over 12 months now. The cleanliness and staff dedication is still as good as the day she moved in.
The manager is very approachable and will do everything in her power to help you out.
I know that staff come and go but it is the same in any industry. You just notice it more because you see them every day.
If caring is the career path you are looking for, I think you would struggle to beat Harrier House.

After all the time my mum has been there I feel like a member of the family.

Since my mum has lived at Harrier House, she's been a resident since June 2022, her quality of life has improved greatly. Having company twenty-four hours a day and staff that are there to meet every need has taken pressure of the family immensely. Between a few of the residents, including my mum, they have set up a dominos club that meets every evening at half-past-six, and this is something my mum really looks forward to. The entertainment laid on is brilliant, days out, such as the Mayors Charity Ball Tea Dance, are amazing. The keep fit guy is really fun and the residents love him. Harrier is a new home and one big happy family to all.

My father has been living at Harrier House as one of the first residents to move in approximately 2 years ago. Since then he has made lots of friends and regularly takes part in the activities provided. The care he receives from all the staff has been exemplary and any issues I have had have always been dealt with promptly. I am regularly updated with Dad's care plan and any changes that have taken place. Dad has never once asked to go home. He is happy and I know he feels safe and secure. Highly recommend Harrier House.

During a medical emergency the team went over and above to look after my father, myself and my mother. Nothing was too much trouble. The care and commitment reassured us that he was in safe hands. People stayed after their shifts ended and ensured that his health, safety and well-being were taken care of. The support was not limited to just the care team, the catering and housekeeping teams also offered and provided support. Thank you!

A 5* hotel for the elderly is the best way to describe Harrier House. The atmosphere is outstanding as the staff are relaxed, friendly and happy. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who give their best at all times.

My husband arrived at Harrier House in March 2023 for end of life care. He has complex health needs and nothing is too much trouble. The team have also supported me and my family. I can go home knowing he is safe with every care need met. It is very difficult handing his care over to someone else but the team are always available to talk to and make time for me, which makes it easier. Thank you!

The manager and staff have created a warm and welcoming atmosphere that is evident from the moment you walk into the building. There is a strong sense of teamwork and mutual respect.
Harrier House is spotlessly clean and attention to detail radiates throughout all aspects of the care home. Staff from all areas of the home are focused on meeting individual needs (eg adapting the menu to suit my mum's dietary needs). Nothing is too much trouble.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Harrier House to anyone looking for a care home.

The manager and staff are fantastic - a huge thank you to all concerned.
