I’m very impressed with the care shown to my mother. The care staff listen and acts on any requests made for updates, as well as keeping us informed promptly of any upward, or downward, swings in Mum's health and emotional state.

The Wellbeing team ensure every resident is included in activities if they so wish, and go that extra mile getting to know individuals to celebrate and remember special moments for them.

I go to Cheadle Manor at least twice a week to visit my mum, who has been there since July this year.
My mum wasn't able to return home where she had lived independently following a stroke. Although she would still prefer to be in her own home and suffers from bouts of depression, one thing my mum and I both agree on is that all the staff are caring and support and motivate her on a daily basis.
I am kept informed of my mum's physical and mental health, and they are aware of her triggers and foibles. Her room is kept clean, and her clothing is cleaned regularly, which is important for her to be able to maintain her dignity.
The majority of the staff on my mum's floor are amazing, particularly as they have had to endure low staffing levels lately but have made sure that the effect on the residents has been kept to a minimum.

I hope that staffing levels will be increased soon as the residents are entitled to and pay for the type of care that the staff want to give them.

My aunt has been at Cheadle Manor for 18 months. She has settled well and is much happier in the home than she was living alone. She is occupied daily by the staff and in particular the well being team, who spend time with the residents, encouraging them to participate in the activities available to them. Communication between staff and family members could be improved on.

Reply from Rowena Bolton, Manager at Cheadle Manor Care Home

Thank you for your review, I am pleased your aunt is settled in the home. As part of resident of the day, care plan reviews are completed with the resident's next of kin. I will speak to the staff to ensure that this is in place at all times.

I go into Cheadle Manor five days each week to visit my husband and I am always pleased to see how caring and kind the staff are. Although I would much prefer my husband to be at home with me, I realise this is not possible and so I have the satisfaction of knowing that he is being well cared for here. Meals are good, the accommodation is clean and comfortable and the weekly activities are well planned for anyone who wants to participate.

The nursing staff have been battling a pressure sore on my wife's rear. They have been very good in looking after her with this problem. Also, keeping me well informed of their progress. She had a seizure on Sunday 3rd of September, they informed me immediately of the problem and told me that she had been admitted to hospital. On her return they kept me up to date on what medication they have to give her. I can't thank them enough for their help.

My mum has been taken care of really well. It's given her a good quality of life. Her overall appearance seems to improve weekly, think this is the hair dressing facilities and having her nails tended to which she loves.

My mother has been at Cheadle Manor Care Centre for ten months. During that time, the staff at the home and the management of the company have dealt with every concern or issue that's come up promptly and with skill and compassion. These have included safeguarding issues and expert management of my mother's conditions. Mum's deteriorating health makes her very sad - but she is able to distinguish between regret for her loss of independence and the exemplary standard of care she gets at Cheadle Manor. The nursing and care staff are outstanding in their patience and skill and their willingness to listen and adapt to each resident's needs. You can feel it yourself as a visitor. There is an unfailing attention to detail, that reflects the vision and expertise of the home's manager. Residents and carers are routinely consulted. Suggestions are acted on and criticisms addressed. It's a lovely purpose-built building. Everyone who needs it should have this standard of care.

Our mother has been at Cheadle Manor Care Centre for six months. It was a significant step to leave her own home but, in the event, she has coped well. The success of the move is, in no small measure, due to the care and professionalism of the friendly staff who arranged her admission smoothly and efficiently, helped her settle and now continue to look after her with kindness and consideration. The staff work hard but somehow make the time to ensure that the residents feel valued and that their needs are respected.
There is an evident willingness from caregivers to engage with relatives and friends. Management is accessible and any questions or concerns are addressed. There is a strong ethos of shared endeavour with the family to ensure the best possible health and comfort of our mother.

The building is attractive, light and airy, with well-appointed rooms and communal areas. Our mother enjoys the meals!

Always pleased to enter Cheadle Manor Care Centre; I know it's not an easy job looking after the elderly and sick but they do a good job. What many do not know is that the average shift is 10-12 hours for the care home workers. I congratulate you on a job well done.

My mother was a resident here for eight months during the final stages of cancer. She had a beautiful room, fabulous food, very efficient pain relief and a very contented few months. I cannot fault the care and attention that she received and the friendship and support that I received.

Cheadle Manor Care Centre is a wonderful place.

I looked at seven other care homes before being lucky enough to get a nursing bed here. The staff are all totally amazing from the reception to the management. The care and attention are second to none. I visit every day and at no stage is Mum left for more than half an hour without someone popping in. You will not find a better home in this area.

Although our very dear friend was only in your care home a short time, she was enjoying getting to know you all as you were with her when she suddenly died. From the time we came to look around the home then throughout her short stay, we found your staff caring, compassionate, and very kind. She settled in the home much quicker than we had anticipated as a result. Thank you for everything you did for her, we'd especially like to thank the laundry lady for her efficiency in marking all her clothes and the hospitality lady is a real asset to your team. I would definitely recommend the home and have already done so.

My mother has been admitted into Cheadle Manor Care Centre for assessment in relation to her having Dementia and a range of other health issues. From the minute my mam arrived, she received the best of care, and all the staff greeted myself and my sister in a friendly and helpful manner. The staff present with a strong ethical and professional approach to their work with a "can do" attitude in assisting their residents and their families in organising external hospital and other appointments and meeting everyone's needs. The home itself is beautiful and presents more like a five-star hotel as opposed to a care home. We feel so lucky and privileged that our mam has been placed into Cheadle Manor, knowing that she is receiving the best of care from the staff. Thank you, Cheadle Manor.

All of the staff at Cheadle Manor go above and beyond. Nothing is too much trouble. The care they show for the residents is exemplary, and they have helped my mum settle in beautifully. It is the extra touches they do that makes them so special - printing off a photo of my mum chatting to other residents to show my daughter that Grandma has friends!

Helen
Helen Job Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2022

I am very proud to have worked in a community care setting for over 13 years. I started my career as a Care Support Worker, which gave me the experience and confidence I needed to fulfil my life's ambition to train as a registered nurse. For many years, I enjoyed working as a nurse in the community, building relationships with patients and their families. I always strived to provide high-quality and personalised care to encourage independence for all patients. I started my journey at Bramhall Manor as Deputy Manager and have progressed to Home Manager. I have recently moved to Cheadle Manor, and I feel privileged to be part of such a hardworking team that provides very high standards of care while maintaining residents' dignity and independence. In my own time, I am a busy mum of 3, enjoying quality family time and also enjoying socialising with friends.

Theophilus
Theophilus Job Title:Clinical LeadJoined: 2021

As a seasoned Registered Nurse with a robust background in Adult Nursing, I currently serve as Clinical Lead at Cheadle Manor, where I champion person-centred care and clinical excellence. My journey into healthcare was inspired by personal experiences supporting patients through illness - moments that deepened my appreciation for empathy, dignity, and the power of human connection during times of vulnerability.

With a strong commitment to enhancing quality of life and promoting independence, I take pride in building meaningful relationships with those I support. I find fulfilment in creating everyday moments of comfort, trust, and joy, and I am especially passionate about end-of-life care, where I strive to uphold the highest standards of compassion and respect.

Career highlights include mentoring new staff, training student nurses, serving as the tissue viability champion within the home, and receiving heartfelt recognition from residents and families for delivering life-changing care. These experiences have strengthened my leadership skills and reinforced my belief in the transformative impact of holistic, thoughtful nursing.

Outside of my professional role, I enjoy playing the piano - a creative outlet that helps me recharge and reflect. A guiding philosophy in my practice comes from Leo Buscaglia: “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word… all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” This quote continues to shape my approach to care and reminds me of the profound influence of kindness in nursing.

Hannah Job Title:Head of CareJoined: 2023

I started working for New Care in 2023 as a team leader. From the second I walked through the doors at Cheadle Manor, I was greeted warmly and could see the outstanding levels of care throughout the home, which elevated my passion for caring. Throughout my 18 months, I have always been supported by New Care, our management team and all aspects of teams throughout the home. We are always encouraged to bring new ideas and to develop our skills. I have recently been given the amazing opportunity to step up as head of care, and I am enjoying learning and developing within my new role. I aspire to continue high levels of care and to use my new role to inspire and ensure the continued success of our team and the well-being of our residents and their families.

Gary
Gary Job Title:Head Chef

I’ve been a chef/manager for over 40 years with experience in various environments from hotels, restaurants, food-led pubs, private hospitals, and now care homes, and I was the owner of a popular café in Stalybridge for over 10 years, which was probably the highlight of my working life. I got into Healthcare about 8 years ago and wanted to do something that would be interesting and different to what I had done before. I really enjoy the chance to mingle and chat with residents on a daily basis.to get to know them and hopefully make a positive influence on their daily life, and to feel that what we produce for them is appreciated by the people we look after.

Outside of work, I like to travel and have been lucky to see so many amazing places around Europe - the Christmas markets are a particular favourite.

I also follow Man City - although more of an armchair supporter now and watch a lot of Futsal around the country. I love my music with 80s a particular favourite, and Classical music something I have gotten into over last few years.
