We have found our preferred respite home; I will be back! It is salutary to be with more elderly people, but the quality of accommodation and care is very good. I remind myself why I am here; respite for my wonderful wife, whose loving care cannot be replicated. Thank you very much.

Made to feel welcome. Given time and space for own quiet time. Good options of what activities available, always something to suit everyone. Felt at home, able to make coffee when I wanted. The staff were brilliant, good sense of humour and were very encouraging. Valued having a room with a patio door
to get out to walk in the garden. Liked the walk-in shower. Thank you.

We care across Waterside Court almost by accident, but it has been a true lifesaver, not just for both my parents but for myself too, as a caregiver.
My parents have both had three weeks of respite, and they look ten years younger. They have been treated like royalty, with dignity, kindness, love
and compassion and have agreed to many more visits/stays. The staff are fantastic, and one member of staff, well, we will always be so grateful for the kindness you have shown. I highly recommend Waterside and can't thank you enough.
Reply from Clemence Heriman, General Manager at Barchester Waterside Court Care HomeThank you so much for your kind review. It was an absolute pleasure having your parents here in Waterside Court and seeing them flourish, going from strength to strength. It was wonderful to see them having a wonderful time and see dad growing in his confidence too. Hopefully, we will see them again soon, visiting us for a cuppa or for coffee and cake! Thank you.

From the moment Mum arrived here at Waterside she was made to feel very welcome and part of a family. I visit her regularly and have excellent communication from the staff about her health and well being. They are very positive and the standard of care is excellent. Initially, Mum was reluctant to accept
the care that was on offer but now that self same support has become part of her routine and is welcomed gratefully.
Reply from Maraya Rabuka, General Manager at Barchester Waterside Court Care HomeThank you for your wonderful review and I'm so pleased mum has settled and now feels part of the Waterside Court family. I will be sure to share your feedback with the care team.

I have been a regular visitor to Waterside Court for some 3-4 months. I am a volunteer with a Nationwide charity. Our dog Monty is a registered Therapy Dog and we visit the Home once per week we meet all residents who so wish and they make a fuss of Monty (mainly strokes and cuddles which he loves -
as do the residents).
What we love about Waterside Court is the genuine warm and caring atmosphere that pervades - the residents are cared for in a non-patronising way and nothing appears to be too much trouble. It is a lovely and loving place where, quite rightly, the residents are given such close and loving care.
It is always an absolute pleasure visiting.

I should add, that a while back Monty's mug shot appeared on the staff board as a member of the Activities section - a lovely touch I thought!

Reply from Maraya Rabuka, General Manager at Barchester Waterside Court Care HomeThank you so much for your lovely feedback. Monty has become part of the family at Waterside Court with the residents and staff looking forward to his visit.

Mum came in for respite incorporation a trial for the future, although Mum was reluctant at first. After the first initial days, the staff quickly identified Mum's strengths and weaknesses and planned her stay accordingly. This was successful, and Mum soon joined in with activities and mixing with other
residents. We found the home clean and well run, and the decor and ambience were very good and a claiming presence. Mum will be returning soon for another "trial" period whilst we go on holiday. Mum is looking forward to going back to Waterside.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and my back healed quite nicely after 8 days. We found all the staff very helpful, kind and caring and could not find fault with any of them.
The food was generally very tasty, especially the soup no complaint. All the staff were very active (overworked) but were
very cheerful.

I had a few minor issues initially but they have now been addressed and resolved fully, and in no way reflect on the present management staff who, through deserved internal promotion, are excellent and very efficient.
From the outset though, the care, attention and respect provided by ALL the staff
for my mother-in-law since she became a resident back in April 2021 (soon after it opened), have continued to be first-class. She is safe, content and being extremely well-cared for.
I would without hesitation, recommend that any family looking to place a loved one in a care home, should definitely visit Waterside, meet the staff, experience the atmosphere and ethos of the home and see for themselves, the superb facilities on offer.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.821)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.821) out of 10 for Barchester Waterside Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.896 for Barchester Waterside Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (184 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 201 Ratings = 4.896
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Waterside Court Care Home is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
