My mother made the difficult decision in May to move to a nursing home. When we visited, we found all the staff very friendly and helpful, which made this decision easier. I think it also helped that my mother was able to furnish the apartment with her own furniture, so it has a feel of home for her.
The staff have been supportive during this first week of her moving in, and I feel that a huge worry has been lifted for me and that she is going to enjoy this next chapter of her life. To quote my mum when we visited, she felt that it was like being on the luxurious cruise ship that she used to sail on!

Signature had been so accommodating to us as a family at a most difficult time. All staff were so welcoming to us. My husband has settled down so well and seems to be very happy there. The food is lovely, and the facilities are truly wonderful. He is only there for respite care this time but will have
no concerns about his future care if they still have vacancies!
Many thanks to all the Signature team.

This establishment is a 5-star hotel combined with residential care. The culture is stable and very customer-facing on all levels. Well managed and organised. Our family is so happy our loved one moved there. At 92-years, she has had a new lease of life.

The facilities are excellent and the care staff are well trained, respectful, and polite. The provision of food promised (Masterchef cook level) fell far short and to some extent still falls short of the sales pitch we were given. The home obviously struggled to hire a decent chef.
Management are
generally disorganised and initially struggled a lot to achieve things that should have been thought through e.g. no process for labelling bedclothes and clothes (my mother has still had personal laundry that has not been returned). There was no real onboarding process when she moved in and we were left to figure out what to do e.g. when showers would be arranged, what days cleaning would be done, when the doctor was coming etc. Showers were orgainsed for 5 am and pills were being delivered to my mum's room at very late hours until we pointed that out.
There has been slow improvement and when issues are raised, there is a genuine attempt to resolve them. More proactivity would be good.
Reply from Maggie Middleton, General Manager at Beckenham Park Care Home - Avery CollectionThank you for taking the time to write a review. I am pleased to hear you think the facilities are excellent and the staff well trained. I apologise that your mother experienced some teething issues when she first moved in and take on board your comments to improve this for future residents moving in. In regards to the quality of our food, we hold regular food forums with our residents and have received excellent feedback. I appreciate your review and welcome the opportunity to discuss with you in person and rectify the issues you have raised.

Having Parkinson's meant that I found I could not cope on my own. It was vital that any care home provided suitable support while allowing me appropriate independence. Signature at Beckenham does just that.
The brand new facilities mean that the care home provides an excellent level of care. Matched
to this the staff are amazing, both in their approach and willingness to help in any way they can. And knowing that there are high-level medical support facilities gives peace of mind. The home provides a range of quality activities that exercise both physically and mentally and over, which each individual resident has the choice of attending or not.
Yes, there were teething problems, but the management approached and resolved them in an organised and professional manner. There were a few introductory problems in the food and beverage department, but again these were resolved through top staff recruitment and involvement of the residents.
I am very fortunate to be a resident here.

I am so pleased that we have Signature as the place for my mum to be. The home is spotlessly clean and well designed for the needs of the residents; we have described it to many as like a 'five-star hotel'. It appealed to us because there are many different spaces that the residents can use; it is not
how we imagined a care home would be. The staff are caring and thoughtful, taking into consideration all of Mum's needs whilst she has been recovering from a nasty broken arm. Mum found moving into someone where new quite distressing at first, but the staff have worked hard to address her mobility and personal care needs. Over the past two years, Mum was very isolated at home, now she has all her meals with the other residents and joins in with different activities daily. She is settling well, and the staff have gradually increased her well-being - even organising a small birthday celebration for family and friends, including some of the new friends that Mum has made at Signature.

Mum and Dad have been at the Signature care home in Beckenham since January this year, and I have to say our experience so far has been just excellent.
The staff and carers are just so professional, knowledgeable, and above all, kind and compassionate people, which is key to ensuring that your loved
ones are cared for in the best way possible.

My parents have recently moved to Signature at Beckenham, and are both in the Dementia suites with my mother having extra care to meet her needs. From the very first visit, my husband and I were welcomed into this beautiful residential care home and were shown around by the client liaison team, who
were professional, knowledgeable and took the time to answer all our questions as well as give us excellent advice. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
When we decided that we wanted my parents to come to Signature, the assessments were arranged promptly and respectfully. At that time, I had one parent in Hastings and the other near Bromley. Our family situation has been extremely stressful and complex, but Signature helped make the transition go smoothly and fully empathised with the sensitivity of our family needs.
The care and attention that my parents are currently experiencing are amazing, and the staff are doing everything they can to make my parents feel valued and happy.

My aunt moved into the care home in October as one of the founding residents. It had been a significant choice to make as she moved from a different country without visiting the home. The team at Signature have been so accommodating, helpful, and kind throughout a very difficult period whilst we navigated
the move overseas and helped us at every stage. Since she has been there, every member of staff has been incredibly kind and caring towards her - she regularly says how wonderful everyone is. Every member of staff has taken time to get to know her, how she likes things done and has worked hard to make her feel at home. With the home being so new, there are, of course, teething problems, and not everything has worked smoothly - but they hold regular resident forums and have taken all feedback and worked to resolve issues and maintain what has worked well. They are also as warm and welcoming to the family as they are to the residents, and the whole experience to date has been excellent.
Reply from Laura Nightingale, Client Liason Manager at Beckenham Park Care Home - Avery CollectionThank you for the review; it is great seeing your Aunt settling into the home, and we love seeing her take part in the events. I will pass on your kind words to the team. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.228)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.228) out of 10 for Beckenham Park Care Home - Avery Collection is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.678 for Beckenham Park Care Home - Avery Collection is calculated as follows: ( (143 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 177 Ratings = 4.678
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.55 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Beckenham Park Care Home - Avery Collection is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 100 registered maximum number of service users is 20. 14 Positive Reviews ÷ 20 = 0.7
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
