Overall Experience

It was a very useful respite stay having been in hospital for 5 weeks having had abdominal surgery and complications (prior to home). Overall experience was veery good, thank you. The staff were all pleasant although I was self-caring and not in need of day-to-day care. The main downfall was the nutrition and food. The menu was mediocre sometimes with no protein or minimal protein present. The kitchen is upstairs from the main dining area and hot portable ovens are used, however, the food was sometines lukewarm. The serving staff were very pleasant and good at their job. The environment was kept very clean & tiday as well as being very pleasant for residents. Thank you for allowing me an honest review - the only reason to do so is to make quality improvements.

After a sudden illness, we had to make the hard decision to put our mother into a care home for respite care, which turned out to be a terrible experience, she progressively became more immobile and almost bedridden. We naturally had some reservations when we went for a show-around at Snowdrop Place, and we were quite cautious when we decided to move her there.
It turned out to be the best decision we could have made. I cannot recommend Snowdrop Place enough. The amazing staff are professional, kind and happy; the home has a real upbeat vibe and sense of community.

The facility is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, and it is clear that the residents are the top priority. The team treat the residents with dignity and kindness; all our mother's needs are met with kindness & professionalism. Snowdrop Place is a truly supportive environment that has provided our family with much-needed peace of mind, we thank the management & all the staff for this.

Five stars simply aren't enough for Snowdrop Place and all the staff!
From the moment we nervously stepped through the door on one of their "open days", through the paperwork to secure Mary's place, the very difficult day when we moved her in to all the on-going help & support, I cannot fault the care & service given to all of us!
It is also a real pleasure to go in for a visit - the welcome is always friendly, the coffee & cake shared with Mary in the Strawberry Fields" cafe is delicious and just to see her smiling & happy is really the only assurance we need!

There's so much more to say but I would recommend just paying a visit and see for yourself - I promise you won't be disappointed.

My father has been at Snowdrop Place since August. He seems very happy and has received excellent care from the staff. He receives 3 good meals each day with good variety. Wine is also available with meals. Residents are able to Personalise their rooms with photos/pictures/and furniture and a TV is provided. The ensuite bathroom and room are regularly cleaned. Staff often pop in to check they are ok. I feel my dad is safe and well cared for.

My first impression of Snowdrop Place during the show around when we were looking for a care home for my mum, was excellent. We were given lots of information and introduced to some members of staff. The home itself is beautifully furnished, always clean, and ad a warm inviting feel about it. My mum has been there about 10 months now, and I am very happy with the care that she receives. The staff treat my mum with dignity, she is very well cared for and I am always greeted with a friendly face by all the staff during my regular visits to my mum. The Management are always happy to discuss any concerns I may have, or respond to email communications. Although my mum does not participate in all the activities, she does enjoy some of them, and there really is a good selection for the residents to go to, if they so wish.
The only negatives are that communication between the staff is lacking at times, and the garden really does need some better care taken of it. Laundry do a great job, mum is always kept in nice clean fresh clothes, however I do notice that some clothes, especially her cardigans and tops, often get shrunk in the wash.

I had always wished for my mum to stay in her own her, but given the struggles we had before she went to Snowdrop , I now I feel that she is in the best place. I have peace of mind now, knowing that my mum is being so well looked after, with wrap around care, day and night. Keep up the good work Snowdrop!

Our mum needed emergency respite care when dad was suddenly admitted to hospital, when I contacted Barchester, they were the first to listen to our urgent needs, they immediately made plans to get mum accommodated into their lovely home Snowdrop Place. All the management team, staff, nurses, carers made mum and us feel so welcome and we were reassured that she was in the safest place and receiving the care she urgently needed.

We highly recommend Snowdrop Place, our family are so grateful to everyone for taking that time to listen to us and reassure us at every stage at a very difficult time. Thank you.

My Mum really didn't want to go into a care home but when my Dad was rushed into hospital we had no option. We had been to Snowdrop Place during an open day and Laura had been very helpful and she had kept in touch. Laura managed to find a room for my Mum at very short notice. She was welcomed by name on her arrival and taken good care of even before she entered the building.
The staff were all amazing, the food was great and my Mum did more activities in the two and a half weeks that she was there than she has done in years.

My Mum was in tears when she had to leave to go home and still talks about it fondly. Thanks you for taking such good care of my Mum and I'm sure she will be back permanently one day.

Thank you so much for taking time to let us know your thoughts from Mum's stay. It was down to our team we were able to welcome Mum at short notice, and so glad to hear she found her time enjoyable, she really became part of our community. Very friendly and professional staff. There is always someone available to assist with any enquiries - nothing seems too much trouble. On every visit there is a very upbeat feeling from all members of the team. Cleanliness is of the highest standard. Residents are highly important to the staff who ensure their needs are met. Daily entertainment is organised for those who wish to participate allowing residents to interact with one another should they wish to do so. Would definitely recommend this care home .

My mother came for a 2 week respite stay. She has thoroughly enjoyed it and would be happy to come and stay again in the future. The whole experience for both her and myself has been very positive. Initially my mother in law was admitted for respite and rehabilitation following a period of extreme illness in hospital. However it has become apparent that she is much safer and happier staying in the beautiful caring environment of Snowdrop Place. When visiting you are always greeted with a warm happy face on reception, nothing is too much trouble.
My mother in law has improved in leaps and bounds with the wonderful care provided. The food is excellent and she is encouraged to go to the dining room to eat. It is like a 5 star hotel, the decor is stunning. The staff are always warm and welcoming and are very attentive.
I feel one of the greatest attributes (there are many) is the incredible activities offered, the residents are encouraged to participate, she has already had an outing to the local hotel for a drink and the promise of a trip to an Edwardian house and estate in the future which will bring her great joy as she was a volunteer there for many years.

Any issues are addressed quickly.

My mother moved to Barchester Snowdrop Place Care Home in February 2024 and loved her new home and all her 'helpers'. As the year progressed, she became unwell and needed more support. As relatives, we never needed to worry, she was looked after in every way possible to make sure that her quality of life, dignity and care were never in question. Mum passed away at Snowdrop and the staff were just incredible and we truly don't know how we would have got through it without them.

My Mother stayed at Snowdrop Place for just over a month for respite. The initial welcome was warm and caring. On the whole, Mother seemed happy in the environment. Family were impressed when they visited. Mother appeared to be well looked after and the care team seemed well-trained and very approachable. The negative for me was the emphasis on finance. It's a shame as towards the end of Mum's stay, it felt more like the caring side was overshadowed by the money. I fully appreciate it is a business, but this felt more like an enterprise! As an outsider looking in, who visited a few times but at different times of the day, the upstairs seems a huge waste of space. Several smaller, more intimate lounge areas which you could use when visiting would make more sense to me.

Our mum had two weeks respite care at Barchester Snowdrop Place Care Home following a spell in hospital. All the staff were so friendly and caring and she made great progress, both physically and mentally, and was able to return home to live independently with the support of carers. I am very happy with the overall care my mum has received at Barchester Snowdrop Place Care Home. The carers are very kind and helpful. The management is very proactive, arranging numerous events, particularly this Christmas. They are always willing to listen to any comments and we have a good relationship with them. Since Mum moved into Snowdrop, she seems happier and her health needs are catered for. She is well dressed, well fed, clean and loves having her hair done and regular bubble baths. An area for improvement is better telephone access for family. Family have tried to contact Mum on numerous occasions without success. Mum thrives on hearing from her family.

I love my job and delight in working with residents to help them make the most of every day
