All staff are very friendly, considerate and appear very caring. Lovely to see the spontaneous interaction with residents when they meet them un-expectedly.

I live in the independent/living facility adjacent to the Care Home. I visit the home most days and talk + socialise with the residents. In 2023 I had a knee replacement surgery. As the hospital did not allow me to return to my flat on my own the first night, I applied to stay in the Care Home. This facility was part of my contract. In this way I was able to experience the full extent of all the Home offers. I stayed for 2/3 weeks. The long wide corridors gave me good ways to do the walking needed for my recovery.

Management - to make a comment was difficult as there have been at least 5 different managers in my time here (autumn 2021 - summer 2026)

Reply from Joanne McCay, General Manager at Avery Park Care Home - Avery Healthcare

Thank you for your review and taking the time to post Diana. I am pleased your continued stay is to your satisfaction and that Avery Park is meeting your expectations. I have helped to Care for my neighbour (service user) for the last 6yrs. When she came into Avery I was very pleased for her. The home is second to none. Very clean, staff very attentive, food is excellent, with a very good choice of menu. All staff are attentive and ensure fluids are given. Various activities every day, which enable people to remain active and integrated

I have been here on a three week total respite as recommended following hospital stay & operation. I have been wonderfully looked after by staff during the day & also at night. They have all been marvellous. I could not have been better looked after anywhere from staff are kind, caring, attentive, and always ready to care for you should you need some extra help. I am home then delighted I chose to stay here. I cannot comment on management as I didn't see any of them during my stay and no one at that level ever checked on me.

Reply from Joanne McCay, General Manager at Avery Park Care Home - Avery Healthcare

Thank you so much Ann for your kind words regarding the care you received during your stay and for your lovely comments about our wonderful staff. It really means a great deal to us to know that you felt well cared for and enjoyed your time here. I also wanted to explain why you may not have seen...

Our lovely dad came to Avery Park Care Home in March 2024 he spent two years enjoying himself with wonderful carers who made him smile be happy and feel treasured.....a few weeks ago early may 2026 his heart got very bad he had three weeks in hospital .....when stable Hayley came to see dad and what his new needs are .....dad needed medical nursing care and Hayley said they had space on the nursing floor for our dad we were relieved.
The next day when we returned with dad the staff had recreated dads room identically to his old room so dad would feel he was back home again .
Our dad has had and still is having wonderful care we could not wish for a better home full of love .

The staff are amazing nothing is too much trouble ,these fabulous carers and nurses tend to all dads needs I would highly recommend avery to anyone who needs care , they put all your worries to ease ...I would like to personally thank every member of staff here at Avery .........

Dad passed away recently, but lived at Avery Park for several years. The standard of care he received from the staff there over that time was extremely good and the facilities are superb and of the very highest quality.

Over the past few months Dads advancing dementia and other health concerns meant that he moved into the nursing wing at the home, where the support and care given to him was tremendous. Dad returned to Avery Park after a hospital stay for his last days, where the support, dignity and care given to him (and us as a family) by the Nursing Team 24/7 was absolutely exceptional.

Reply from Leander Pyke, Home manager at Avery Park Care Home - Avery Healthcare

Thank you for the lovely review and your kind words. It was an absolute privilege to have cared for Dad and we will all miss him dearly.

The home is beautiful and can't be faulted. The care staff seem to be well informed and communicate well with the residents. Initially, I felt I needed to understand the systems better, but no problems now I've worked it out! The atmosphere in the home is very good, it feels like a hotel.

My mum has been at Avery Park Care Home for two and a half years. The hospital made the care decision for us, as Mum was no longer safe at home. She had liked the look of Avery Park from the outside from when it opened, so it was the first place I checked out. It was the perfect choice for us. From the moment I stepped through the door I was impressed. The staff, care and facilities are great. The whole family are welcomed and it is the happiest and most content Mum has been for years!

Dad has lived here for approximately 9 months and I have nothing but good things to say about Avery Park Care Home. All the carers and management are amazing, nothing is too much trouble. Dad's behaviour can be challenging at times but they manage it remarkably well and always listen to his needs. I recommend Avery for anybody's loved ones.

Overall Experience

The staff/carers' experience and competency is quite varied. There are some very good staff in the building but also some who seem under-trained or in some cases ill-suited for the role. Frustratingly if I ask a carer for something that isn't immediate I am told that they will report back or find the right member of staff but almost without exception, nothing happens and I have to chase. The most recent example - I asked six times over the course of 3 days for my power chair to be charged, which I'm no longer permitted to do myself.

Reply from Leander Pyke, Home manager at Avery Park Care Home - Avery Healthcare

Thank you for the review. It's always great to see these from residents who are at the heart of the home. Unfortunately, the issue raised with regards to the charging of chairs is unavoidable due to fire regulations, but a resolve and agreement has been met. Please do continue to come and see me should you have any further questions.
