St Mary’s Riverside Care Home in Hessle, a luxury Care home located on the Hessle foreshore and adjacent to the Humber Bridge Country Park. This state-of-the-art residence is situated on the banks of the river with glorious views of the surrounding area.

Each of the en-suite wet room bedrooms is furnished to the highest standard, offering Residents the chance to enjoy pure comfort and tranquillity. The home also offers suites and double rooms.

Sadly, some years ago, I had to place my own mother into a care home, I only wish I could have brought her to St Marys on the river for her final years. It's luxury beyond belief, the staff, like the home, are warm and caring beyond the call of duty. I can see just why the home was awarded 'outstanding'
this year because that is exactly what is is, wonderful and outstanding, as are the staff. The best thing about the home! They cater for many issues and it is safe, secure and well-managed. Thank you to all the staff.

Mum was only at St Marys Riverside for 3 weeks but in that time I couldn't have wished for a better place for her. From the moment you walk in through the door, it's like a home from home and as relatives of the residents you are made to feel so welcome. The staff on the dementia floor are amazing treating
everyone with care and compassion and they all went above and beyond with Mums end of life care. I cannot thank them enough, it is easy to see why St Marys Riverside was awarded outstanding on their CQC inspection. Thanks again for taking such good care of Mum.

My mother has recently been admitted to St Marys Riverside. She has received nothing short of outstanding care. We enquired on the Sunday as an emergency placement. The senior on duty was extremely professional and informative. An assessment was completed the following day and Mum moved in that very
evening. I cannot tell you the impact this has had on us as a family. For the first time in two years we as a family now have our life back. Mum is safe, happy, extremely well cared for and finally has had her first bath in over five years! What struck me about this care home from start to finish is how professional, kind and welcoming all the staff are, from the housekeeping staff all the way up to management. Everybody takes the time to get to know Mum and the rest of the family without judgement and we could not have wished for a happier more friendly environment.

My parents went to St Marys Riverside to have their second period of respite care. The staff here are amazing, the kindness and dignity they show my mum and dad is wonderful. The home has a lovely atmosphere and it's beautifully clean. The food is always really good and they can have anything they want.
The staff are so kind and always have time to talk and make my parents feel at home. Nothing is ever too much trouble. I cannot recommend this home highly enough. Thank you.

My mam went into this care home in July and sadly passed away recently. The care and devotion she received for the three and half weeks she was there was beyond words. She received first-class treatment and was never alone as there was always someone checking her. She was treated with love and dignity
and every single person who works there deserves recognition. Such care and devotion was given throughout. The home was top-class and so clean and tidy it was a pleasure to walk through the doors. If anyone is looking for a caring care home then this is your place and we cannot thank everyone enough for making us feel special.

My sister has been cared for a few months on the dementia floor of St Mary's Riverside. Her condition makes her management challenging at times, but I have never seen the staff other than supportive, kind and encouraging. They know her as a person (and her immediate family) and are able to distract
her when that is possible or manage her frustration in other ways. The home is spotless, the willingness to adapt to food preferences and the sense of trying to build a community within the constraints of the individuals' varying levels of contentment/frustration/cheerfulness is fantastic. I have nothing but praise for them. Thank you.

St Marys Riverside is, without a doubt, a five-star facility. My father stayed for respite care following a spell in the hospital, and his improvement due to the efforts and encouragement from the staff was amazing. (A special thank you to one lady who worked wonders).
Spotless rooms, excellent food
and a lovely atmosphere make it an easy choice for anyone looking for respite or residential care.
All staff should be very proud of their contribution to fantastic team achievement.

From the day I was wheeled in by ambulance staff to leaving three weeks later to return home, I received nothing but kindness, encouragement and other help in innumerable ways. The accommodation was excellent, akin to any 5-star hotel. I was even accompanied to hospital appointments without feeling
I was being a burden to the care team. Nothing was too much trouble. The choice of activities on offer was wide-ranging, from exercises for helping with movement to quizzes and competitions to challenge the mind. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend St Mary’s to anyone.

Having visited St Mary's at their open event and been treated so well, I decided that this would be the right place for my elderly mother when the time comes. I made an initial enquiry relating to daycare, and upon explaining the situation, the manager offered to come round and speak with my mother.
It was a lovely, caring and reassuring meeting. To be honest, I was dreading taking this step but was soon feeling reassured and positive. My mother looked forward to her visit and has continued visiting one day each week. Each day she tells me about the lovely food and the great staff. She has already made a number of friends.
The manager and all of the staff have been superb. I could not have asked for more. Everyone has been very friendly and accommodating and has been flexible with any requests that have been made. The whole place has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, and the interior is absolutely beautiful. From what I have seen, it could not get any better than this. Thank you.

Although she can't remember any of the staff names, she has nothing but praise for them; they are all professional and caring. She enjoys taking part in the activities and

Well to start off, what an amazing welcome you are greeted with on arrival. All the staff are fabulous, super supportive and friendly. Went today to visit my boyfriend's grandma, who has recently moved into the home was lovely to see how settled she is and how much care she receives. We were able to
stay for an amazing Valentine's party and even enjoyed a cheeky glass of prosecco. It's so comforting to see how happy she is being at this home and how comfortable the staff have made her. It's made such a positive impact on her life, and it's very reassuring that she is in such safe hands.

Not only is this a beautiful, well-designed new building, the standard of care given by their kind and welcoming staff makes this a safe and happy place for your loved one.
From catering to management, each member of every team treats the residents with dignity
and respect.
No request is too much trouble - communication is consistent, friendly and considerate; we can finally sleep much easier at night knowing that our relative is being very well looked after.

I was in St Marys for five weeks of respite after being in the hospital. I enjoyed the staff - the staff were very friendly and helpful. The facilities were excellent - just like a five-star hotel.

My father had a residential placement for 11 weeks up to 10th January 2023, during the time when my mother was in the hospital. The overall care was outstanding in all respects. The care home has an excellent team of experienced and kind care professionals who are extremely responsive to the individual
needs of the people who they support. The environment is tranquil and relaxing, the rooms and communal areas of great quality and the activity programme offer something for everybody.

I have recently enjoyed my stay in the luxurious St Marys Riverside care home. I booked in for two weeks of respite after my left knee replacement operation but decided to stay for five weeks over Christmas and New Year. I can't fault the care I have received from the dedicated, cheerful staff. I have
enjoyed all my meals, most of which I have, by choice, eaten in my room. To me, it has been like having a holiday on a cruise ship! All my friends who have visited me here have been very impressed by the home, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Laura

Laura Barnsley

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2021

Laura has spent over 30 years working in social care. She has been managing care homes for the elderly for over 20 years and loves her job. Laura and her established management team have worked together for over 15 years and are passionate about creating a real quality of life for the residents in their care. Laura believes that a happy team creates the right atmosphere and environment for the residents.


CQC rates all care homes in the country, with only 3.5% of care homes being rated as outstanding. Laura and her dedicated team's care and approach to the residents have previously gained them an outstanding rating in all 5 CQC domains.


One of only 8 homes in the country to do this. Riverside has also recently achieved an Outstanding rating from CQC, something which the whole team are very proud of.


Laura brings with her a wealth of experience and a passion to make St Mary's Riverside the best home possible for the residents who live there.

Sophie Moody

Job Title: Deputy Home Manager Joined: 2021

Sophie has worked with Laura from the age of 18 when she started as a junior Care Assistant and has worked her way up to the role of Deputy Home Manager. She has completed her NVQ levels 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care and her NVQ level 5 Registered Managers Award. Sophie also has NVQ level 2 in Team Leading. Sophie has experience in managing a residential home but chose to be a Deputy as this is the role she enjoys the most and a role in which she holds a wealth of experience.


Sophie is dedicated to ensuring her residents receive the very best of care and the staff are happy, providing a safe and secure place for our residents to live and our families to visit.

Sam Norris

Job Title: Deputy Home Manager Joined: 2022

Sam has worked with Laura and Sophie for 10 years and brings scores of experience with her to St. Mary's Riverside. She has worked her way to Deputy Home Manager and is looking forward to developing within her role and advancing her skills.


Sam is passionate about our resident's well-being and strives to ensure everyone feels comfortable and included. She enjoys helping our residents settle into their new homes making their transition as easy as possible providing support and reassurance along the way.
