This care home looks beautiful but the care is not up to scratch due to poor support from management. The residents with dementia are on the first floor and it always felt like they were second class citizens. There are not enough carers for the number of residents to be cared for safely. My mum suffered a serious injury and has had falls whilst in their care. Simple things like making sure that residents have their own glasses and footwear don't happen - they are asking for falls when this is ignored. Residents wear the same clothes day after day because there is no protocol to put them in the wash each day - this would ensure that they had clean clothing every day. There is not a good level of understanding about dementia, capacity seems to be used as a reason not to do things rather than to encourage people to live as well as possible with dementia. We tried to work with the home and regional mangers to improve things but in the end have moved mum. Don't send people with dementia here.

Priorslee House carers have always been pleasant and helpful. It is very reassuring to know that Dad is looked after and treated with respect and dignity. He is comfortable and generally happy. The home is clean and tidy. The meals are mostly good from what Dad has said. He enjoys the refreshments also. There is always a friendly smile from staff. They genuinely care. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated.

Along with the carers, I have received fantastic support from the manager and administrator, particularly with more emotional support and financial issues advice. I recommend Priorslee House.

Very very poor. Don't be fooled by the nice furniture and fake flowers. They were regularly below legal limits for staffing ratios which management knew about. They now have agency staff as we raised it after a serious accident, due to no staff being present. Senior HC-One management have admitted they were below legal limits of staff. Home Manager tried to deny it and lied to Safeguarding about it. Numerous days on the trot without personal care, including teeth not being brushed, has been admitted by Senior Management. Call bells are ignored, as reported by other relatives. Residents are left sitting in a room with a television on and no entertainment on the dementia suite. Anyone can enter the building as no checks are done on who you are and who you are there to see, the signing in book is never checked. We have moved to another care home and the difference in my Mum is incredible, she has a new lease of life and is walking and talking again. The Manager should be ashamed.

My wife has severe mobility and dexterity problems with some dementia. She went to Priorslee House for 2 weeks of respite but deteriorated whilst there. The private bedrooms and general areas are very smart, akin to a modern hotel. The carers are very attentive and whilst my wife expected to come home she has settled in very well.

My father is so well looked after in this beautiful care home. The caring staff are patient and understanding with the residents, talking to them, explaining things and reassuring them. My father has Alzheimer's and is very quiet and gentle. He is frail, and the staff keep an eye on him as he is prone to falling.
The lounge and dining room are beautifully decorated and clean. He is able to choose the meals he wants, and regular hot and cold drinks are available throughout the day.
His room is lovely and warm, with an ensuite bathroom. Clean towels are provided every day.
The manager is very approachable and helpful, treating each resident according to their needs and individual personalities.

I feel very reassured now that my father has settled into this lovely home.

My relative has been in Priorslee House for two months, and we are so pleased with the care she is receiving. Whilst there were some minor hiccups at the start, after we spoke to the care home manager, they were quickly sorted out.

From the initial enquiry to the arrival of my brother-in-law, the management team supported the family very well. Staff are friendly and approachable. Night staff were efficient and very good in their communication with family after my brother-in-law had a fall and needed a hospital visit. Meals are suited to the needs of residents, and choices are varied.

Housekeeping team and maintenance persons support families to make the rooms individual and homely.

What could be a scary and nerve-wracking experience has been made so much easier through kindness and thought out. Everyone has been friendly, relaxed and very understanding. Everyone has talked directly to my 'na' rather than just to us. Everyone is respectful and enjoyable. The staff are wonderful - thank you for everything. We have come today and Na is having and exercises class - she is delighted and the gym instructor is brilliant!

Well done all and thank you.
