I arrived desperate for help for my mother and within 48 hours all was sorted. The manager scooped us all up. Everything was made as easy and convenient for us as possible. During the 6 weeks my mother was resident, the wonderful care staff went out of their way to get to know her. At the end of her life, they were so attentive and loving. The nursing staff put in the effort to co-ordinate GP/hospice/medical care. They held and supported my mother, my sister and I to the end.
The care of all the staff and the facilities was nothing less than amazing. My whole family have drawn so much comfort from knowing her last days were spent surrounded by so much care and attention. Thank you.
Suffering from Parkinson’s, some dementia and poor vision, Mum does not deal well with change but is settling in more easily than expected. This is due to the friendly and supportive staff doing their very best to make that difficult transition to residential living as easy as possible. Mum only arrived in the last month, initially for respite, but we had no hesitation in changing to permanent care.
Its location in Hawkhurst means a fair way to travel from Maidstone to visit, but the standard of care and knowledge that Mum is comfortable and well looked after makes that compromise worthwhile. As visitors, we have all been made very welcome and enjoyed some good meals with her. Her personal phone means we can talk at any time.
The professional management team met us for a home visit to discuss personal needs and preferences prior to admission, and gave us a full introduction to the services provided; this was very reassuring.
The time at Hawkhurst House was without issue - the room was spacious, bright, clean and well - appointed to meet a residents needs. During our daily visits, we heard how lovely the food was (very important) and how kind the staff were.
At discharge, we were given a full hand-over by a member of staff, who took the time to go through medications, etc. which was very helpful.
We have no hesitation in considering returning for a second respite visit.
Mum stayed here for 17 days while we were on holiday and I cannot fault the care she received. The staff were friendly, kind, caring and nothing was too much trouble. Her room was beautiful and really felt like a home from home, it was super clean and as good as any 5-star hotel. She had her own phone which made keeping in contact really easy.
I left strict instructions with regard to mum's care and they were followed to the letter. She had clearly been well looked after. So much so that given the choice, I think she would have stayed.
I would not hesitate to recommend Hawkhurst House.
My Mum has been resident for a few months now. She can be quite difficult and the care the staff have given her has been excellent. We are always welcomed when we visit. My grandchildren love the beautiful garden and often get offered drinks and biscuits. The care is excellent. The rooms are spacious and incredibly well fitted. There are wonderful facilities for bathing with hoists. We cannot ask for a better place for her to be.
Brand new nursing home, big, clean, welcoming, lovely rooms, lovely surroundings, lovely staff - just wish it wasn't quite so far from my house - trouble with a big family.

Hello, I’m Chris, the Registered Manager of Hawkhurst House. I’ve worked in the social care sector since 1995 – older people’s services, learning disabilities, dementia, physical disabilities and sight impairment. I believe I’m a natural ‘people person’ with a strong sense of empathy and compassion. Our aim at Hawkhurst House is to support residents to feel both physically and emotionally safe so their loved ones can go back to being husbands, wives, sons and daughters and where everyone feels at home.
