Everyone is so friendly & helpful whenever I visit my Grandad! I love to keep up to date with what he's up to on the social media page too. He seems settled and always has news to tell us from the week of fun activities :)
At Charlton Lodge Care Home - Care UK we set a high standard for ourselves, so we are very pleased to hear that your experience with us has been a positive one.
Staff quickly recognised my wife's interests & used this knowledge to help her & open discussions.
The room is spacious with easy access to the en-suite toilet/wash facilities and has a decent view from the window which provides some interest when the pupils are going to and from school (e.g. schools opposite & my wife was a teacher).
One minor criticism is that the 'app.' does not fully work on my laptop - although I can see photos I cannot read comments - probably my fault for not having a 'smart' phone!
Thank you for sharing your experience and for your kind words about the care your wife has received since joining us at Charlton Lodge. We're glad to hear that our team was able to quickly address the challenges related to her medication, diet, and hygiene, and that they have taken the time to...
We first had a visit to Charlton Lodge and Dad was not only impressed with the accommodation and facilities but actually excited about his planned stay there.
Dad had a wonderful time at Charlton Lodge. He was particularly impressed by the staff at all levels saying they were very friendly, spent lots of time chatting to him, and even took him on the bus with 2 other residents to the town centre for a bit of shopping and coffee and cake which was super. He loved the cafe area in particular and also enjoyed his meals so much in the dining room with other residents. He had such a happy time there and said it felt like he had a holiday in a 5 star hotel surrounded by caring, fun people. We have re-booked for another stay in October and would highly recommend a visit if planning a respite break or permanent residency.
Thanks to all staff.

I have found Charlton Lodge to be the most kind and supportive environment for Dad. His care is excellent and he is treated with respect and kindness by all of the staff who are also very kind and supportive to us as a family, communicating with us and helping us all to make this this best possible time for Dad. It is always a pleasure to visit both him and the community at Charlton Lodge where there is always a warm welcome and a very happy Dad. I highly recommend this excellent home.

Since moving to Charlton Lodge, my father has been shown kindness, impeccable care and thoughtful interventions to make his day to day living as good as it can be. I have been impressed with all the staff, be they managers, reception team, carers, cleaners or maintenance - nothing is ever too much trouble. Charlton Lodge is well organised, calm and welcoming. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to others. Thank you Charlton Lodge, it is so reassuring to know my father is safe and treated with respect and dignity.

My Auntie stayed for 2 weeks respite care and enjoyed every minute or it.
The staff were attentive, kind and compassionate, the facilities are wonderful.
The food was good, activities plentiful and even a few trips out on the minibus were very much enjoyed.
The modern, new building is so well designed and the bedrooms extremely spacious.
The Customer Relations Manager is very knowledgeable and helpful, all the staff were lovely.

Dad receives excellent care - he is washed & dressed daily with thoughtfulness & smells fresh & clean. The meals are delicious & he genuinely enjoys them. What really stands out is the staff - reception, admin, housekeeping, chefs & carers who all take the time to chat with him, look at photo albums, find sport/car tv programs, provide thoughtful activities & have a laugh with him. His love of the garden has been embraced & he's often outside in the sunshine, which he just loves.
Communication with our family has been excellent & reassuring, and I'm always warmly welcomed and kept updated during visits. Charlton Lodge has a truly caring team, and we are so grateful for their kindness and dedication

We moved Dad to Charlton Lodge from another home and could not be more pleased with the level of care he has received. The staff have been amazing, very attentive and thoughtful and have gone out of their way to make sure he is happy. As visitors we are welcomed warmly and the dialogue between the home and family has been excellent. I could not recommend this home more highly.

It was only the kindness and compassion of the deputy manager, who was proactiive in finding another home (not in the CareUK group), which saved the day. Other staff members obviously need to go on training courses urgently.
We sincerely apologise for not meeting your expectations in providing the care and support your...
My mum came for a short stay at Charlton Lodge and liked it so much she didn't want to leave and has now become a permanent resident. The family are all so pleased as we get to spend quality time with her when we visit rather than spending our time arranging carers and doing household chores, shopping etc.
thank you very much for taking the time to leave us feedback about your experience. We are very pleased that your mum decided she wanted to stay with us and that you are enjoying spending quality time together now rather than having to run errands and attend to daily chores.
My friend has done nothing but smile since their arrival and it definitely makes the decision for their family a lot easier
Keep up the amazing work

I have 2 of my friends in Charlton Lodge. One of my friends has been here since Christmas 2024 and my other friend since February 2025. They both love living here and when I come in it's so lovely to see both so happy and the carers can't do enough for them with support, care + activities.

Mum has Alzheimer's and the staff at the care lodge have been amazing with her. She had such a positive time we decided to extend the respite and hopefully we can have her there full time in the future.
thank you very much for taking the time to leave us feedback about your experience. We are so pleased your mother has settled with us so well after her initial respite stay and so pleased you have decided for her to stay with us for the foreseeable future.
This is an amazing care home. Beautifully decorated and laid out. All the staff are very friendly and extremely caring to residents and family members. Mum is very settled in the home and my Dad visits about 3 times a week, he is made to feel very welcome.

Even before moving in, the staff had shown nothing but respect and care for our family. They are clearly in the right job!
The home is amazing, so clean and very posh. We are always made welcome when we visit.
We missed the grand opening, but the pictures look great. We are looking forward to seeing what they put on for the residents next!
Keep up the great work.

I felt the care team were interested in her, and they made the transition from home to care home so easy for me and reassuring for mum.
The furnishings and facilities are second to none, and the cafe is a wonderful temptation in between meals.
We have no hesitation in using the home in the future, knowing how wonderful Mum's care was.
thank you very much for taking the time to leave us feedback about your experience. We are so pleased your mother enjoyed her stay with us and also that she asked to stay a few more days at the end of her initial respite period - we look forward to welcoming her again next month.
My former partner stayed at Charlton Lodge for the whole of January 2025 whilst her permanent live-in carer took a well deserved and overdue holiday. I visited her several times in this month, and was always impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of every member of staff that I met and talked to. The facilities are excellent for both resident and visitor. The staff were attentive and professional with my former partner at all times, and she was happy and contented whilst at the home. I would be very happy for her to stay at this excellent care home again.

We could not have chosen a better care home. The staff are all incredibly kind and caring and show a genuine interest in their residents, family and friends. The home itself is beautiful and it's obvious a lot of thought has gone into making a homely atmosphere, with easy access to all areas. It's such a relief and comfort to see how our loved one is being looked after.

Meet the Team (1)

I’m excited by the challenge of working at a newly commissioned care home.
A good Home Manager needs to be calm, patient, proactive, and empathetic. I understand through extensive experience that the small details make a huge difference. I’m always happy to talk through any questions or concerns residents or their families have.
I value being a trusted face within the home and the wider community. I like to get to know everyone I meet, whether it’s residents, families, colleagues, health professionals or entertainers. I enjoy these informal moments and these conversations are what hold a home together.
I ensure the home offers a safe, stimulating, and fun place to spend time in. It’s a place where CQC standards are maintained or exceeded at all times. My priority is to create an open, positive, and inclusive atmosphere. A home that advocates dignity, independence, choice, and self-fulfilment for all residents.
I strive to ensure my team always provides the professional and empathetic care everyone deserves. Under my leadership with a previous team, we won the ‘The Team of the Year’ and ‘West Berkshire Business of the Year’ awards.
I’m married with two grown-up children and I’m a keen runner. I love walking our dog or enjoying chilling out with a coffee after some retail therapy.
