Charlton Lodge is a new, purpose-built care home in Wantage, Oxfordshire. The experienced and dedicated team offer high-quality residential and dementia care on a permanent and respite basis. They also offer convalescent and compassionate end of life care.

Residents can enjoy a range of luxury facilities including a welcoming café, cinema room and hair and beauty salon. The bedrooms are individually decorated with a private, en-suite wet room. Many ground floor rooms have their own patio doors, opening directly onto the landscaped and secure gardens.

What a fabulous welcome we received when attending the VE Day celebrations. All the staff were very friendly, kind and caring.
Amazing entertainment, tea, cakes, singing and dancing.
What amazing care my mother-in-law has received so far.
Would strongly recommend a visit.

Since moving to Charlton Lodge, my father has been shown kindness, impeccable care and thoughtful interventions to make his day to day living as good as it can be. I have been impressed with all the staff, be they managers, reception team, carers, cleaners or maintenance - nothing is ever too much trouble.
Charlton Lodge is well organised, calm and welcoming. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to others. Thank you Charlton Lodge, it is so reassuring to know my father is safe and treated with respect and dignity.

What a wonderful place Charlton Lodge Care Home is, a welcoming and friendly place from the moment we walked in.
My Auntie stayed for 2 weeks respite care and enjoyed every minute or it.
The staff were attentive, kind and compassionate, the facilities are wonderful.
The food was good, activities
plentiful and even a few trips out on the minibus were very much enjoyed.
The modern, new building is so well designed and the bedrooms extremely spacious.
The Customer Relations Manager is very knowledgeable and helpful, all the staff were lovely.
We are now looking at long term care for our Auntie at Charlton Lodge and we know she will be in safe hands.

We received such a warm welcome when my father arrived at Charlton Lodge in March. After a very unhappy experience elsewhere, he was immediately reassured & comforted by the genuinely caring staff. The contrast has been remarkable, & we all felt an instant sense of relief.
Dad receives excellent care
- he is washed & dressed daily with thoughtfulness & smells fresh & clean. The meals are delicious & he genuinely enjoys them. What really stands out is the staff - reception, admin, housekeeping, chefs & carers who all take the time to chat with him, look at photo albums, find sport/car tv programs, provide thoughtful activities & have a laugh with him. His love of the garden has been embraced & he's often outside in the sunshine, which he just loves.
Communication with our family has been excellent & reassuring, and I'm always warmly welcomed and kept updated during visits. Charlton Lodge has a truly caring team, and we are so grateful for their kindness and dedication

We moved Dad to Charlton Lodge from another home and could not be more pleased with the level of care he has received. The staff have been amazing, very attentive and thoughtful and have gone out of their way to make sure he is happy. As visitors we are welcomed warmly and the dialogue between the

When my brother initially moved to Charlton lodge all seemed well. But after a few weeks things went horribly wrong. Although Careuk staff had assessed him, it became clear that they could not meet his complex needs. Horrifically last week the family were informed with half a days notice that he had
to leave. He has cerebral palsy, learning difficulties and early stage dementia. And the best interests meeting prior to his move said that he couldn't go home.
It was only the kindness and compassion of the deputy manager, who was proactiive in finding another home (not in the CareUK group), which saved the day. Other staff members obviously need to go on training courses urgently.

My mum came for a short stay at Charlton Lodge and liked it so much she didn't want to leave and has now become a permanent resident. The family are all so pleased as we get to spend quality time with her when we visit rather than spending our time arranging carers and doing household chores, shopping
etc.

By far one of the most welcome care homes I have ever walked into - the administer knew my friend like he was their family - so loving and warm. The atmosphere is amazing with all staff walking around with smiles on their faces eagerly awaiting to help anyone

I have 2 of my friends in Charlton Lodge. One of my friends has been here since Christmas 2024 and my other friend since February 2025. They both love living here and when I come in it's so lovely to see both so happy and the carers can't do enough for them with support, care + activities.

Our family were so pleased how our mum was looked after when she was admitted after a recent health scare. She was so happy with her stay and the family were reassured she was in the right place to help get her back on her feet - we can't recommend the home highly enough.

We booked mum in for respite so my dad and myself could have a break and mum could get the care she needs.
Mum has Alzheimer's and the staff at the care lodge have been amazing with her. She had such a positive time we decided to extend the respite and hopefully we can have her there full time in

This is an amazing care home. Beautifully decorated and laid out. All the staff are very friendly and extremely caring to residents and family members. Mum is very settled in the home and my Dad visits about 3 times a week, he is made to feel very welcome.

We can't thank Charlton Lodge enough!
Even before moving in, the staff had shown nothing but respect and care for our family. They are clearly in the right job!
The home is amazing, so clean and very posh. We are always made welcome when we visit.
We missed the grand opening, but the pictures look
great. We are looking forward to seeing what they put on for the residents next!

Mum spent two weeks at Charlton Lodge while we had a holiday. She was very comfortable and happy while staying there. She joined in with the activities, something we did not expect, made friends with other residents and enjoyed many films in the cinema.
I felt the care team were interested in her,
and they made the transition from home to care home so easy for me and reassuring for mum.
The furnishings and facilities are second to none, and the cafe is a wonderful temptation in between meals.
We have no hesitation in using the home in the future, knowing how wonderful Mum's care was.

My former partner stayed at Charlton Lodge for the whole of January 2025 whilst her permanent live-in carer took a well deserved and overdue holiday. I visited her several times in this month, and was always impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of every member of staff that I met and talked
to. The facilities are excellent for both resident and visitor. The staff were attentive and professional with my former partner at all times, and she was happy and contented whilst at the home. I would be very happy for her to stay at this excellent care home again.

We could not have chosen a better care home. The staff are all incredibly kind and caring and show a genuine interest in their residents, family and friends. Every time we have visited the staff have been so friendly and welcoming. We have always been offered refreshments. All the staff we have met so far seem very kind and caring and definitely seem to have the residents needs and requirements as their priority. The home seems more like a hotel than a care
home.

Staff always very welcoming whenever I visit, always offering refreshments, very kind and considerate. Facilities look very homely and residents appear very well cared for. Have been regularly visiting a friend, who is now a resident, and also recommended the facility to others, with another friend
recently attending the stroke sufferers get together and my mother in law attending the dementia cafe / get together, both thoroughly enjoyed their time there.

My dad suddenly became quite unwell and I quickly had to find somewhere for him to be cared for. I looked around a few of the different homes in the area and I just got a good gut feeling as soon as I walked into Charlton Lodge. One staff member greeted me and was super friendly and gave me a detailed
tour around the place answering any questions that I had. All of the staff that I've met have been very welcoming and have looked after my dad by putting his safety and best interests first. The manager has been very attentive at what my dad needs to make his recovery as quickly and smoothly as possible and has been amazing at keeping me in the loop as I don't currently live in the country. I could not recommend Charlton Lodge enough!

The care home is beautifully furnished and modern. My grandmother is extremely happy with the staff and services. All the staff are very friendly. They all have a personal relationship with residents and provide excellent care. It is very clean and tidy. In the summer it will be beautiful, there are
plenty of outside spaces that allow for privacy. Would highly recommend.

I’m excited by the challenge of working at a newly commissioned care home.


A good Home Manager needs to be calm, patient, proactive, and empathetic. I understand through extensive experience that the small details make a huge difference. I’m always happy to talk through any questions or concerns residents or their families have.


I value being a trusted face within the home and the wider community. I like to get to know everyone I meet, whether it’s residents, families, colleagues, health professionals or entertainers. I enjoy these informal moments and these conversations are what hold a home together.


I ensure the home offers a safe, stimulating, and fun place to spend time in. It’s a place where CQC standards are maintained or exceeded at all times. My priority is to create an open, positive, and inclusive atmosphere. A home that advocates dignity, independence, choice, and self-fulfilment for all residents.


I strive to ensure my team always provides the professional and empathetic care everyone deserves. Under my leadership with a previous team, we won the ‘The Team of the Year’ and ‘West Berkshire Business of the Year’ awards.


I’m married with two grown-up children and I’m a keen runner. I love walking our dog or enjoying chilling out with a coffee after some retail therapy.
