Overall Experience

Bere Grove is a beautiful care home, set on a country lane near Horndean. The gardens are well-kept, with lots of seating areas for residents and families. The interior is stunning and tastefully decorated. My mum went in for emergency respite/permanent stay, and the manager was so helpful and reassuring; she put my mind at rest, and nothing was too much trouble. All the staff are lovely and seem very happy; they are very helpful and welcoming. The facilities are exceptional, with a fantastic coffee shop, cinema room, activities room, hair salon and much more! Residents get the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities based around what they like doing. I would not hesitate to recommend Bere Grove to anyone considering care for a loved one.

My name is Graham Allen, and I have the pleasure of serving as the Senior General Manager here at Bere Grove Care Home.

I bring a wealth of experience in both commercial and operational aspects of healthcare facilities, gained across diverse settings in the UK and my native South Africa. Much of my career has focused on strong strategy and execution, particularly within the private healthcare sector, a space where Barchester is a recognised leader.

As a seasoned General Manager, my foremost passion lies in delivering exceptional, personalised care to our residents. My name is Pule, and I have the privilege of being the Deputy Manager here at Bere Grove.

There’s nothing more rewarding than having a positive impact on someone’s life, and that is why I enjoy my role. One of the key duties as a Deputy Manager is to ensure my team delivers person-centred care, supporting our residents’ independence, as it can be challenging for someone to leave their home and come and live in a different place. I started working for Barchester when I was 19 years old, as a carer and then became a care practitioner in a nursing home before being promoted to Deputy Manager.

My family is of great value to me, and I would like the families of each of our residents to know I am caring for their loved ones in the same way I would hope my family would be cared for.

I feel very lucky to be part of such a wonderful home. I am really passionate about supporting our residents and their loved ones, making sure everyone feels welcome, comfortable, and cared for. I hope that people see me as a friendly face and someone they can always turn to when they visit us.

What I love most about my role is building connections with residents, families, and our amazing team. Every day brings something new, and it’s such a privilege to share in the special moments and milestones of life here at Bere Grove.

I’m excited to continue growing with the home and look forward to welcoming many more residents into our community in the future.
