Over a three week period, she has had time to recover from the residual injuries from her fall, has enough care and services always on hand to facilitate her getting into a much more robust physical and mental state and allowed us to have sensible discussions about medium and long term arrangements for her. Birchmere House has been the perfect environment for her to make this progress, with its on-site medical support, care facilities and focused and caring support staff.

I have stayed here for 2 weeks and have had a very happy time, both with the staff and the residents, very well looked after. May come again in time. Thank you all very much for your care and friendship.
Thank you for taking the time to review Birchmere House Care Home. We are delighted to hear how comfortable and enjoyable your stay was with us here. You are very much welcome back anytime should you require our services. Best Wishes, Ryan.
As the daughter of a new resident of Birchmere, I have been welcomed into what feels like a family. Mum is very well cared for with nothing being too much trouble. In the times of an unsettled world, it is extremely reassuring to know Mum is safe with all sorts of new opportunities awaiting her. Thank you Birchmere, you are fabulous.
Thank you for taking the time to review Birchmere House Care Home and for your amazing 5-star review. We are delighted to hear that your mother has soon settled into her new surroundings, giving you and your family the peace of mind you deserve. It is a true pleasure to have her living with us, in the loving care community that we create. Best wishes, Rachel
My sister and I met with the staff from Birchmere House to discuss the care plan for our Mother and talk about how she is settling in. We were very impressed with the details we were provided with and the care our Mother has been given. The staff have clearly been working hard to form a bond with her, especially in view of the Covid restrictions in place. The reception staff have been particularly helpful and friendly on all our visits.
Thank you for taking the time to review Birchmere House Care Home. We are delighted to hear such kind words about our home and our staff team who go above the standards to deliver an exceptional level of care to all residents daily and cater for all individuals' needs, giving you and your family peace of mind that you deserve. Very pleasant stay of two weeks. The staff are all very helpful and polite. Other residents are agreeable and many are willing to chat. Unfortunately, there is no garden apart from the little greenery outside the home, with a concrete path along which one can walk. The activities are arranged for most says to give residents something to do. The food is good English food.
Thank you for taking the time to review Birchmere House Care Home. We are delighted to hear that your enjoyed your two-week stay at our home. The well-being of our residents is our primary concern, and we host a variety of activities daily; we are so pleased that the activities are well received...
Moved here 3 weeks ago. Comfortable and furnished to a high standard. Varied activities. Restaurant and food very good. The staff are helpful. Residents are friendly. Sat in the garden regularly.

I cannot explain what a relief it is that my mother-in-law is a resident at Birchmere House. After suffering a big stroke and going from being completely independent at home to needing nursing care it was such a worry looking for the right care home. From the first contact, we have been fully supported and more importantly, my mother-in-law has had nothing but excellent care and support adjusting to her new home. A lady helped us through all the treacle that is the social care system and we were able to view the care home (safely having had tests and wearing full PPE) which made a massive difference as we were able to see and feel the surroundings for ourselves and meet a few of the staff. It is a beautifully presented home, spotlessly clean and has a wide range of activities and facilities. My mother-in-law has settled in so well and that is wholly down to the care of the Birchmere team. We had a couple of minor hiccups but the home dealt with those immediately. Relieved we found it.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review for Birchmere House Care Home. We are really pleased to hear that you are happy with the home. We understand how difficult this whole process has been for your mother-in-law and the wider family and are delighted we have been able to help. It...
Dad has just moved in to Birchmere House Care Home. The home was recommended by a couple of Dad's friends but he was unable to look round first for himself. The customer service manager provided brochures, answered all my questions and later showed me round. She could not have been more helpful and friendly. The nurse on duty on arrival took time to talk to Dad and myself about his medical history and needs, the staff settling him in were lovely. The home is impressive and I have visited several, the bedrooms are spacious with a large modern wet room ensuite and kitchenette area and there are several different lounge areas. The two lifts and wide corridors are helpful as Dad is currently using a wheelchair, following a stroke. So far Dad has joined in activities, dined with other residents and spent time in the garden with others or reading his newspaper that are delivered daily. Visits by family and friends are in the home or garden pod. Our first impressions are excellent.
Thank you for taking the time to review Birchmere House Care Home. We are delighted to hear how satisfied you are with our home and the excellent work our staff carry out daily, to deliver exceptional standards of care to all our residents, whose well-being is our primary focus. We are so pleased...
I came to this care home 9 years ago with my husband (since deceased) and moved to my present room, clean and comfortable. I do not need care I can shower and dress myself etc. The staff are polite and reliable. In normal times activities are good, kitchen very good as I have several food allergies which are catered for. I am on NHS extremely vulnerable and high-risk identification (lymphoma) but can reach hospital if necessary! (not for 2 years).
Thank you for taking the time to review Birchmere House Care Home. We are delighted to hear how satisfied you are with your home and to hear how comfortable you feel here. It is a true pleasure to have had yourself and your husband as part of our loving care community and he is deeply missed by...
I would like to thank all the staff at Birchmere House Care Home, Knowle, for the amazing work they have done during this very difficult time. The efficiency of management, the kindness and patience of the carers, the cheerfulness of staff in housekeeping, the usual high standards of the kitchen staff, the activities group who have tried so hard to entertain the residents, all have gone the extra mile to make it as happy as possible for the residents. Please, on behalf of my husband and myself, thank everyone concerned.
Thank you for taking the time to review Birchmere House Care Home. We are so delighted to hear such positive feedback about our home. It is a true pleasure to have your husband as a member of the loving care community we create here and we are glad to hear how well he has settled in. Our highly...
My 88-year-old aunt has been in Birchmere for several years. Previously she was living on her own and finding this increasingly difficult. When she moved in she rapidly regained weight and was, in my view, much healthier. She settled in well and is happy there, notwithstanding the loss of independence which is an inevitable consequence of going into a home. Birchmere is well run. The staff are efficient and caring. Outside of lockdown, there is an extensive programme of activities for residents and during the pandemic, they have been meticulous in complying with the high standards one would expect.
Thank you for taking the time to review Birchmere House Care Home and for your lovely feedback. Our staff team will be delighted to hear how happy you are with the care your Aunt has received and how quickly she settled into the loving community that we create. Best wishes.
The staff at Birchmere House made it easy to secure a place, even when things became complicated with a hospital admission, the place was held for her and the staff liaised with the hospital to ensure a smooth transition from hospital. The staff were helpful to me and did what they said they would do when they said they would do it. Although I have been unable to see the facilities due to Covid restrictions, my sister assures me that the facilities are excellent and the food is very good. My sister suffers from a number of painful conditions for which she is receiving treatment. Most importantly she has told me that the staff are friendly and helpful and treat her with kindness and professionalism.
Thank you for taking the time to review the Birchmere House Care Home. We are delighted to hear that your sister has settled in well within our community and that she is satisfied with our highly trained staff team and the care that she is receiving. We are strictly following government guidelines,...
More recently, my father-in-law was admitted for respite care during the Covid 19 Pandemic following a hip replacement operation in a large Birmingham hospital. The admission was faultless, quick and resolved within 24 hours. A truly magnificent achievement by all the management and staff - especially given the difficult circumstances at the time.
I would personally have no problem recommending Birchmere to anyone considering having their loved ones cared for in what is a 5-star setting and far better than other local options.
What a really lovely place this is. I enjoy visiting my brother and it gives me great peace of mind knowing he is being so well looked after and leading a good life. There is a warm, homely atmosphere, everyone seems to know each other. I have had lunch many times and the food is marvellous. Carers are the back bone here and nothing is too much trouble, with the added bonus of brilliant activities and outings galore. I would have no hesitation in recommending Birchmere House.
My dear friend who has been living here for over 12 months is living life to the full. She has a beautiful room, eats restaurant standard food and goes off on minibus trips to her heart's content. Staff are fantastic, kind, considerate and friendly. The activities team are brilliant, such an impressive activities programme, some of which I attend myself, such good fun, well organised and inviting. You should all be so proud of yourselves, the standard you have set is beyond anything you would expect in a care home.
Many thanks for your lovely comments.
Fantastic entertainment always put on.
I have been visiting my aunty at Birchmere for quite some time now, When I walk into the building I am always greeted with a smile and several members of staff often stop me for a chat, so welcoming. The building is like walking into a 5* hotel, there’s a lovely coffee shop area, and they do the best afternoon cakes, something my aunt loves as she has a sweet tooth. I have seen the lunches served, it all looks a la carte. The care staff are second to none, in fact, all the staff deserve mentioning, my aunty has nothing but praise for everybody and trust me, she’s always been hard to please. They organise so many trips, think it’s at least 5 possibly even 6 and that’s every single week, they go everywhere, it’s great. There’s an activity programme that you actually wouldn’t believe, honestly, I have never seen anything like it, it’s like a holiday resort, there is something for everyone, my aunty has a better social life than me. Thank you to everyone at Birchmere.
I have had an enjoyable three weeks in Birchmere - respite care. I am most impressed with all the carers and staff without exception - all so caring and pleasant, nothing too much trouble. My only complaint is the hospital bed, extremely uncomfortable! Staff did provide extra padding making the hard mattress more comfortable.
The attentive nature of the staff - whether in the kitchen, living space or a care environment, is something to behold. This isn't a place of residents - this is a place of individuals. Somewhere where every possible opportunity to discover YOU and then cater for your life thereon is the absolute priority.
I was struck that here you feel life is beginning, a bright stimulating new chapter with incredible activities and a buoyant outlook. Bravo Birchmere House.
I can't express how much this means to me - he's not 'lost in the crowd', he's at a place where it feels he's the only thing in any room he's ever in!
The activities he's now taking part in have seen him spread his physical and mental 'wings' further than I've ever known with enthusiasm I thought I wouldn't see in him again. Brimming with stories of road trips to the countryside, arts and crafts (that's a real shock), themed days (I've had to be dragged away myself by the wife!) and even a new found love for wildlife. All orchestrated by the most attentive and compassionate people. Excellence in every way.
