Generally, I am very happy with my mother's experience at Tall Trees. I would like to see her more involved in activities but I think this is down to my mother, more than the home. Mum feels safe and secure here and her anxiety levels are pretty low now. She always looks clean and presentable and
seems to enjoy the food. My big disappointment has been the ongoing problem with the lift. I find it ridiculous that it has been out of action for so long.

Reply from Michelle Little, Home Manager at Tall Trees

Thank you for taking the time to review Tall Trees, we really appreciate your feedback. At Tall Trees, we take great pride in ensuring we provide high-quality care and facilities. Our daily activities are an extremely important part of life at the home, so we have requested that one of our Activities Coordinators invites you to be involved in the regular review of your mother’s activity programme.

We apologise for any inconvenience which has been caused to you or your mother due to one of our lifts being out action. Unfortunately, we have had to wait for parts to be made and delivered from abroad but the lift is in the process of being fixed and will be up and running in the very near future. We have had a stair lift fitted and we have also been able to use an alternative lift for residents.

We welcome the opportunity to improve, and hope you will continue to share your thoughts with us in the home in future.

Mum moved here after 3 months in hospital in 2016. Lovely staff helped her to settle quickly, and keep her occupied and happy!

She recently had a fall and was transferred to the hospital and we were notified as soon as possible.

All family are happy with the care given to Mum, and the friendly

staff.

Mother was a resident for one year and very much enjoyed her time at Tall Trees.
The nursing care was excellent, as were the carers.
My mother sadly died in March 2017.

Staff are very pleasant and helpful. There doesn't seem to be a handover system as I had to mention the same thing quite a few times today staff. Appointments I requested for my mum were not carried through.

I suggest you have a wipe board in the dining room and also in the resident's room.

The staff are extremely caring and kind, which is by far the most important thing. There is a very pleasant terraced area, where residents who are fit enough can sit in the sun and admire the garden. Some rooms are much nicer than others, so it would be worth asking to see what rooms are available before
signing up.

From the very first day, my mother has been treated kindly and professionally and with dignity.
The staff are patient and gentle with her and make my father welcome on his daily visits.

Very satisfied with the look and feel of the home. The staff are very courteous and welcoming. The staff team very friendly and respectful to clients, who in the main, all seem settled and contented and having a good rapport with carers. Daytime activities seem a little lacking - perhaps more thought
could be given to stimulation via music therapy more often. Overall, a very good experience.

My mother has now been at Tall Trees Care Centre for 16 months. I have been pleased with the care she has received and the friendly approachable staff are mostly excellent. Mum enjoys the food and is given a very good choice each day. Unfortunately, she does not join in many activities but I do believe
she is always actively encouraged to do so. I wish I could see her outside more in the lovely garden.

My mother moved into Tall Trees in August 2015, like most people moving into a new home, mother was anxious and frightened to start with, but the staff were fantastic and soon had her settled and very happy.

Over the last couple of months mother kept saying how much she loved being there and if I

took her away for a day or so, she looked forward so much to going 'home'.

Unfortunately my mother died recently, I couldn't have asked more from the staff, they were all so supportive and helpful and all were obviously so upset at her passing which proved to me how much they loved her. I can't thank them enough for their help and support and care they gave my mother.

I was a bit unsure when I was coming here but I find that there is no pressure on you. Decisions were left to me. I have got choices. I am asked if I want to do something, which is very respectful. I like everything here (the food, the staff). A very relaxed atmosphere. I have had worse holidays!

I feel very comfortable here. I find the food very nice. It suits me and I get on quite well with most of the people here. I like my room very much because I can look at the yard and the drive coming into the main door. I can see the vehicles and the people. I get on with all the staff. They help me
every time I need it.

My mother has been in Tall Trees for 2.5 years and the staff have been extremely professional and kind towards her during her time in the home. She has not been an easy resident to care for at times, but they have always been very understanding.

They have been kind to me in terms of getting to grips

with coping with a relative who is in decline. It's very difficult choosing a residential care home for a parent as basically it's not what anyone would wish for yourself or a relative - however, I visited many homes before choosing Tall Trees and I can recommend it most highly.

The nurses and care staff will always seek medical advice if they feel it is needed and the local GP practice make regular weekly visits.
The current manager is keen to maintain good communication links with relatives and holds regular relatives meetings, as well as having an "open door" policy and she is constantly working to make minor improvements to the quality of care that is offered.

We were very pleased with the prompt acceptance of my mother at Tall Trees, while she was in a very vulnerable state. The care she has received has been of good quality, with appropriate help and attention to her needs. we are only moving her to another care home to be nearer family and to make visits
to hospital for treatment easier.

I am pleased and relieved that at last the smell of urine on Beech Unit seems to be under control! On the whole the staff are wonderful and there are one or two who are outstanding. My mother is not taken to the toilet often enough - I understand this is meant to happen on a two hourly basis and my
father and I have sat with her longer than this and no one has appeared. Mum has become distressed leaving us to work out that she needs the loo. If we were not with her she would wet herself, adding to her discomfort. Also Mum has an underlying urine infection and so should be given more drinks - this seems to be left to visitors.

I called Tall Trees in near desperation, looking for an emergency respite bed for my Mother. From my first conversation with the Manager I felt reassured, and understood. I have found all the staff I have either met or spoken to extremely professional, patient and kind. They have my Mothers best interests
as a priority and yet have found time to support me too. The environment is one of calm and comfort, yet it is the attitude of the staff that I can't praise enough, and that makes Tall Trees rank so highly in my mind, Thank you.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.549)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.549) out of 10 for Tall Trees is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.457 for Tall Trees is calculated as follows: ( (38 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.457

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.092 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tall Trees is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.2 = 0.492

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Sharon Wassing is our Home Manager at Tall Trees Care Home. Here’s a little bit more about her:

“As Home Manager, I believe that our residents should be cared for as if they were a member of our own family and that we make each day memorable for them. I lead by example and involve myself in the day-to-day life of our community, as well as making Tall Trees a happy and enjoyable place in which to live and work.

It is important to me that we make a difference to the residents’ lives, providing exceptional care and supporting them to live their lives the way they want to, seeing them smile makes it all worthwhile.

I have worked in care for over 20 years in various roles. Following my development in this time and the opportunities I have had, it is important that everyone gets a chance to develop and have opportunities in their careers, so I work with my team to support in making this happen, by bringing stability and continuity to all the team, residents and their loved ones at Tall Trees.

I am proud to work in the care sector as I know every little thing that we do has an impact on the people that we care for, and it’s wonderful to be a part of their lives. Every day is different, and this is something that I cherish.

In my personal life my life experiences have shaped who I am, with my ethos being ‘love people and love life’ I live in Stratford upon Avon a short distance from the home, I know the local area well and Tall Trees is a beautiful place to come to work every day, with stunning views and a real sense of community in the local village, I look forward to developing these relationships within the local community and I would like to see Tall Trees as the home of choice for anyone in the area who is looking for somewhere for their loved one to move to.”
