St Rita's Care Home is an excellent and caring environment. My mother moved to St Rita's over 7-years ago, and I could not wish for a better home. The staff are truly wonderful and have provided me with support and compassion through some very difficult and emotional times. Mum's wellbeing is at the
centre of her care, and I am confident that the care provided is in her best interests. Would highly recommend St Rita's to anyone.

I have a very close friend, of whom I am nominated next of kin, resident in St Rita’s, and she has been here now for 6-months. All of the staff are so helpful, friendly and cheery, even if circumstances have been difficult with Covid lockdowns. The rooms are bright, clean and airy, the grounds very
well kept and glorious to view, and the atmosphere is warm. I viewed many before opting for St Rita’s, and I am so glad I did.

I have experience of a number of residential care homes for my mother and other family members and can confirm that St Rita's rates as the most caring. I would not hesitate to recommend it. The staff are friendly, professional and approachable. The rooms are very pleasant, and the grounds beautiful.
My mother has been very happy here.

I cannot praise the home more highly. The staff are very much a happy, cohesive team, and the home's manager is professional and personable. As a result, the care given to the president is amazing! Staff retention is good, meaning the staff who work there are knowledgeable and empathetic/ They could
not have done more to ensure my mum was comfortable and as happy as she could be at a very difficult time. Thank you!

Both my parents resided at St Rita's since January 2016, and their care has been exemplary. The staff have taken wonderful care of my mum since my dad died four months ago. A very complex situation for someone with dementia who is also grieving. We have nothing but praise for the way our loved ones
have been cared for and the comfort that brings us.

St Rita’s, is I think, one of the top care homes in the area. It is within extensive grounds of outstanding beauty. Every time I visit my mother and drive up the long winding road, I think how beautiful the views are there with the llamas and water buffalos in the fields, it’s a dream. Then when I arrive,
no matter what day or time, I am always greeted with a smile and a polite how are you by any member of staff you come into contact with, everyone is so lovely. I really look forward to seeing them and my mother every time. You can be rest assured that your loved ones are being well cared for, and you can see that every time I walk along the corridor to my mother's room, any residents I see are happy, smiling and enjoying the activities that are always going on. Every member of staff, no matter their role, are all very courteous, and always knock on the resident's door before they enter, and if they have a visitor, they are always offered a drink, which is nice. Thank you to you all.

Covid compliant entry is now routine and smooth. Prior to our visits, I choose to email confirmation of that day's negative lateral flow test results and my estimated time of arrival in good time; this helps Mum's care team plan accordingly; there is no need to book a visit in advance.
The visit is
in Mum's room where my wife and I are usually free to spend as long as we choose; we are often provided with light refreshments and can discuss any issues either with staff in the reception or with those on her floor. If there are any issues of note from the home's side, we are 'phoned at home.

Mum has been a resident at St Rita’s since October 2021, and I could not feel more comfortable and assured about Mum’s care. Despite Mums sudden needs and financial requirements for her to go into residential care, the staff have been supportive, caring and kind at every stage. I am so impressed how
everyone you meet at the home smiles and acknowledges you every time you go in, and know exactly how Mum has been during the periods we don’t see her. The managers are so supportive and helpful with advice, and every member of their team, especially the lady in charge of the Covid regulations and ongoing visiting Covid visiting requirements, are really switched on and mindful. The nursing staff are second to none, and I am genuinely delighted with everyone and everything to do with my mums care. Thank you, everyone. If Mum could speak for herself, we know she would be more than happy.

My dad became a resident at St Rita’s in the middle of February 2021. The manager was so helpful and efficient in answering my questions on the phone. She offered to meet me and walk around the grounds, but as I live in Devon, this wasn’t possible. The manager took the time to take numerous photos of
the different areas, which all looked cheery, clean and inviting. When I or any of our family phone to talk to Dad, all of the team have been friendly and helpful and answer any questions we might have. Their feedback has been excellent, which has reassured us all, because of Covid, we haven’t been able to visit. My dad has settled well, and I believe that is due to the efficiency and kindness of the staff.

Like most people, we hear some harrowing stories of some care homes, as well as seeing dreadful footage of undercover reporters working in care homes in the hope to expose how our loved ones are being treated! Well, can I put you at ease? Because hear at St Rita's, every resident is treated as an individual
with much respect and care given to each and everyone, and their wishes respected also.
To me, St Rita's is a shining example of what a care home should be like, if ever I had a need to become a resident of a care home, this place would be my first choice without hesitation.

The staff at St Rita's have been outstanding throughout my grandmother's stay in the care home. Very facilitating and willing to go out of their way to ensure our family have maintained the highest level of communication possible with our relative during the Coronavirus pandemic. The management has
been fantastic and very receptive to feedback. Overall, I feel very comfortable knowing my grandmother is at St Rita's and would recommend the home above others in the area.

The care home has exceeded my expectations on all levels from the manager down. My wife hardly knows me now, if at all, but the joy on her face and physical reaction to her carers is lovely to see. She is obviously getting the emotional support that I can no longer give her. (Covid19 restrictions) There
is a genuine rapport between the carers and my wife which gives me great comfort. On her birthday, when I visited, she was given a lovely cake by the staff who came in singing Happy Birthday.
On the practical side, my wife is now unable to care for herself but whenever I visit she is nicely dressed in matching clothes, hair done and very happy. All contacts, verbal, phone or email are responded to promptly by all members of staff. They go the extra mile to ensure a high level of care and attention to detail. They have purchased clothes for her (seeking my advice first) and even undertaken to sew in name tags. To say I am very happy with her care is an understatement!

The home always appears to be well-run and offers a safe and comfortable environment. The care staff are always kind and friendly. I imagine that the cost to residents is expensive - I've marked value for money as poor, which is a comment on the wider care environment rather than St Rita's compared
to other homes.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.611)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.611) out of 10 for St Rita's Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.636 for St Rita's Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (157 Excellents x 5) + (54 Goods x 4) + (14 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 225 Ratings = 4.636
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Rita's Care Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
