I was very impressed with the care home from the moment I walked in to view rooms for my partner. I am also very impressed by the staff and how much they engage with the residents at all times. I am very happy to leave my partner in the home as he has settled really well. He is always clean, dressed and well fed. I don't think I could ask for anything more for him. Very very happy with the care he gets.

This is for the full year that my mother has lived at Berkeley House. My mother has never been so content and happy since she came to live at Berkeley House. My mother has gained weight and her appearance has improved dramatically. I am aware that my mother can be difficult at times but this is dealt with, with patience and dignity.

Berkeley House has been through a rough path over the last 12 months. Now under new management I believe things are starting to improve. The manager is on hand to give advise and support at all times and is professional and efficient in all she does. New unit managers are now on all floors which seems to be having an impact. It has a great atmosphere and care staff are happy, helpful and welcoming. Food is plentiful and rooms are always kept clean and tidy. My Mam is treated with utmost respect and is very happy where she lives. I have faith with the care staff who do a fantastic job looking after her. I would recommend anyone looking for a place, be it for respite, short stay or long term care to have a look round Berkeley House.

They also look after her health needs and react quickly if they notice the residents aren't well.
At first, my mum didn't like the idea of going into residential care but now says she is so glad she is there.

Staffing levels are poor in some areas and some staff would benefit from dementia training.
Activities to include all residents needs improvement too.
This home is not of the standard I would expect from Bupa.

Brilliant staff, care and treatment of relatives. I was made to feel welcome at all times. Contact has been very good. My aunt and mum have been helped to settle in and feel at home. I am very happy with all aspects of the service.
Thank you for your review, we appreciate your feedback. We are pleased to hear about your positive experience and appreciate your comments about our home and will share your comments with the home’s manager. The Bupa Customer Care Team.
The majority of the staff are very friendly, but very busy. This stops a lot of interaction with the residents.
My mother has a good appetite, and has no complaints regarding the food served. Fluids are now more available in the rooms and in the lounge, but many of the residents need encouragement to drink but are unable to serve themselves.
All in all, Berkeley is a comfortable, clean and normally happy care home, and I wouldn't discourage anyone not to apply to live there.

Meet the Team (2)

I am local to Berkeley House, just a five-minute walk away. I have a husband, two daughters and four grandchildren. My hobbies are going on holiday, seeing my friends and I am passionate about my eyelashes! I like music, dancing and being happy. My motto is “If you’re happy, I’m happy”.

My career with Bupa began at the beginning of 2021, and I work in the maintenance department. I have nine years’ experience working in the facilities maintenance sector, five years of this was working at one of the top performing academies in the UK. I am now bringing my multi-trade skills to the care home sector to expand my knowledge, as well as supporting the residents as much as I can. I enjoy my role because every day is different. There are always new challenges and rewards, along with plenty of laughs and smiles. My main hobbies are spending time with my family and going abroad with my partner.
