The Review Score of 7.3 out of 10 for Bentley Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 3.3 out of 5 from 6 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Bentley Court in Google's Search Results – more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 3.268 for Bentley Court is calculated as follows: ( (22 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (19 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 71 Ratings = 3.268

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 24 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 48 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews; 3.00 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 24 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 48 months. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.01 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bentley Court is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3.00 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.75

    2. Target of 15.4 positive Reviews (77 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 4 Reviews ÷ 15.4 Target = 0.26

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

7.3 Bentley Court has a Review Score of 7.3 (7.278) out of 10 and an Average Rating of 3.3 out of 5 from 6 Reviews over all time

I have nothing but praise for all of the staff who do a very difficult job in challenging circumstances. Mom moved here after being discharged from hospital and from day one has been treated with nothing but dignity and respect. Staff are extremely caring and compassionate. They make me feel so very welcome when I visit. The manager is very approachable and makes me feel very confident that Mom is in the right place.
Food is excellent and Mom is eating and drinking better now due to the encouragement of staff.
I am so thankful that she is safe and well cared for.

Care provided is second to none. Mom is cared for by the best staff who are kind, calm, compassionate and caring.

We have no concerns about leaving mom there knowing that on her final lap of life, she is being given the care that we were no longer able to provide. Well done to them all.

Friendly caring staff and bright decor are what you find when visiting Bentley. My mother has vascular dementia and her previous home could not cope with her shouting out all the time. The staff at Bentley have been superb at helping her settle in, NEVER making us feel that mom is a burden. Residents do bang and shout sometimes but as families know this is what this cruel disease does to our loved ones. The 1st floor is for dementia patients and when I visit mom I expect to hear and see challenging behaviour but I have never seen any resident victimised for it, the staff take it in their stride and smile. The food is fabulous and you're always made welcome when visiting, we go down the kitchen and make ourselves a cuppa and you can even arrange to dine with your loved one. So far I have only been impressed and grateful to the Manager and staff at Bentley and am sure that will continue. So from myself and my family well done and thank you all.

The fact is there are 76 residents as of now and only 13 staff on shift in the day when fully staffed, and 5 at night when fully staffed. It is impossible to give basic care. The staff struggle and strive in trying to meet the many needs of multiple residents. It's clear to see the staff are not able to provide time to spend with residents as the volume of work they have thrown upon them makes it literally impossible, this is not acceptable in 2018. Every now and again the desensitizing managers will try to occupy the minds of staff with the ideals of a new structure to somehow deal with the monolithic workload aiming to make the home an enchanting viable workspace. This is condescending and simultaneously a self-admission there is real issues. The staff can not do more than they already are, trying to apply new structure only repeats a monotonous short-lived change, this change suggests staff and structure is the issue. This is obviously not the issue when staff are running at 110%.

Have a relative in there this is a very poor so-called care home. The stench hits you when you go in, resident not happy there. Men in with women where some women take their tops off. The tray that relative was eating off filthy. Some residents more ill with dementia than others consequently shouting and banging. Seems they have lost everyone's glasses and such. What a sad way to have to end up in there at the end of someone's life. I feel so sorry for every single one of these of these people in this poorly run home.

I am sorry to see that you are unhappy with the care provided at Bentley Court. I would be really grateful if you could contact me directly on 01902 722100 to arrange a face to face meeting where we can discuss the issues you have raised.

My mother has been there for 2 years now, and under the management then, the place was understaffed and mistakes being made by staff. Had I not been there daily to check on mom, who knows. The staff have gotten used to me coming in and assist wherever possible.
I have found that there is a frequent use of agency staff, and I know its difficult to predict sickness but you cannot surely expect agency staff to hit the ground running and absorb all there is to know about the residents. This is especially annoying when I come in to see someone feeding my mother without raising the bed to 90-degree angle when eating and feeding her too quickly in order to finish the task. There just isn't enough staff at the best of times. Today I arrived at lunchtime to find they were just finishing her daily wash, again short staffed and overworked, at times without having breaks, not to mention undervalued. The staff do try very hard to complete their duties and no one has quality time with residents.
