Bentley Court Care Home is a purpose built care home for older people.

Situated in a residential area of Wednesfield, West Midlands. This 77 bedded home is situated in its own pleasant grounds and provides general and dementia nursing care. Accommodation is provided in single en-suite rooms that are arranged over two floors. Communal areas include two dining rooms, two lounges on each floor and a hairdressing salon. Staff encourage their residents to be as active, and to retain as much of their independence, as possible. Care provided is second to none. Mom is cared for by the best staff who are kind, calm, compassionate and caring.


We have no concerns about leaving mom there knowing that on her final lap of life, she is being given the care that we were no longer able to provide. Well done to them all.

The fact is there are 76 residents as of now and only 13 staff on shift in the day when fully staffed, and 5 at night when fully staffed. It is impossible to give basic care. The staff struggle and strive in trying to meet the many needs of multiple residents. It's clear to see the staff are not able
to provide time to spend with residents as the volume of work they have thrown upon them makes it literally impossible, this is not acceptable in 2018. Every now and again the desensitizing managers will try to occupy the minds of staff with the ideals of a new structure to somehow deal with the monolithic workload aiming to make the home an enchanting viable workspace. This is condescending and simultaneously a self-admission there is real issues. The staff can not do more than they already are, trying to apply new structure only repeats a monotonous short-lived change, this change suggests staff and structure is the issue. This is obviously not the issue when staff are running at 110%.

Have a relative in there this is a very poor so-called care home. The stench hits you when you go in, resident not happy there. Men in with women where some women take their tops off. The tray that relative was eating off filthy. Some residents more ill with dementia than others consequently shouting
and banging. Seems they have lost everyone's glasses and such. What a sad way to have to end up in there at the end of someone's life. I feel so sorry for every single one of these of these people in this poorly run home.

My mother has been there for 2 years now, and under the management then, the place was understaffed and mistakes being made by staff. Had I not been there daily to check on mom, who knows. The staff have gotten used to me coming in and assist wherever possible.
I have found that there is a frequent
use of agency staff, and I know its difficult to predict sickness but you cannot surely expect agency staff to hit the ground running and absorb all there is to know about the residents. This is especially annoying when I come in to see someone feeding my mother without raising the bed to 90-degree angle when eating and feeding her too quickly in order to finish the task. There just isn't enough staff at the best of times. Today I arrived at lunchtime to find they were just finishing her daily wash, again short staffed and overworked, at times without having breaks, not to mention undervalued. The staff do try very hard to complete their duties and no one has quality time with residents.
