My godmother, who lived on her own, had unfortunately taken a turn for the worse and had been required to be moved to a care home. A really upsetting experience.
However, on visiting her at The Albion Court Care Home, my mind was definitely put at rest.
I turned up, unannounced, had to sign in for
security and then was allowed to go and visit her. I walked towards her room to find her walking along the corridor going to the dining room unassisted to have lunch.
The other residents were sat at the table whilst the lovely staff attended to their every need ensuring that everyone was catered for.
My godmother didn't want much, but the staff insisted on her having a lovely main, dessert and drink. All she kept saying is 'I want a cup of tea' on fish and chip fryday.
I met with the deputy manager, who I'd love to name but not allowed to. She put my mind at rest and advised me to speak to Social Services for additional information.
Me and my family are really grateful to the wonderful team at Albion Court!

The transition from a previous Avery care home was difficult at first as the family were made aware just weeks prior to the move that my father had been deemed end of life. As a family, we were dependent on the help of a staff member to help us sort out financial aspects as there had been a query regarding
if a health bed would be totally funded or not. The staff member made several calls and communicated with the relevant personnel to help us as a family to which we are grateful and she was able to fully inform us of the parameters pertaining to my father's care package.

The admin staff was absolutely brilliant when Dad had to come into care. She was and is friendly, kind and helpful. It was a very stressful time but she helped us greatly with the admin side of things and it all went smoothly, so not having to worry about that side of things was really great. I think
Albion Court Care Home is a fantastic care home. They have looked after Mum really well since 2019 and Dad since January 2023. I would like to extend my thanks to all the staff at Albion Court.

Went to visit Mom today 4/08/23 only to find a fun day/celebration in full swing. All the residents were catered for. Some staff came in on their day off to help out. Mom sat out in the sun foot tapping, steel band plus a singer keeping everybody entertained. Enough food and soft drinks to cater for
residents and guests. Yet again a 110% effort from all the staff to include and entertain. Thank you all.
Reply from Beverley Aldridge, Manager at Albion Court Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you so much for taking the time to review us, it was a great day and thankfully the sun shone in the afternoon so we could get outside, the band and the singer were amazing, so glad you could join us - Bev

I would like to say a huge thank you to Albion Court Care Home for taking care of my aunt. She has been in the home since Covid and is so relaxed and at peace. The staff are warm, caring and so willing to help. The deputy manager is a star and has been extremely helpful in trying to ensure that the
family and external things that need to be put in place are completed to statutory requirements. Thank you to the deputy manager and her team, we really appreciate you.

This is my second annual visit to this facility. As always, I am greeted with a friendly smile at the reception area and when in contact with any of the staff. The facility is clean, bright and odour-free. The grounds are immaculate. My mother consistently reports happiness with the staff and the facility,
and of course, her meals. The frequent Facebook postings keep me in touch with the many activities.

I attended a 96th birthday gathering at Albion Court Care Home on Saturday. The resident moved into Albion Court fairly recently. The experience surpassed all expectations based on my visits to other care homes over the years. The environment was extremely welcoming and friendly. The staff were so helpful
and on hand to help and assist the event and guests in addition to their usual duties.
It was great to see how relaxed and settled in the birthday 'girl' was with her new environment and to witness the positive relationships developed with the staff. The family room and resident's lounge were lovely and cool, despite it being a hot day and also having direct access to the garden. The resident's en suite room was airy and spacious with direct access to the lovely garden space.
I will certainly be recommending Albion Court to anyone exploring care home facilities.

Since my mother's arrival, the staff have bent over backwards to help her to settle in. They are supportive and genuinely care for her well-being. My mum is treated with dignity and kindness, even when she has repeated herself for the 100th time. I appreciate and have gratitude for the staff as they
are treating my mum as though she is their mum. Thank you for caring and helping my mum to settle into her new home.

I am very impressed with the recent visit I made to Albion Court to see my mother who has been a resident at the home for several years. Upon my arrival, I was made to feel very welcome with friendly and professional staff on hand to greet me. My mother's room was clean and very well-presented. My mother
was in really good spirits and well looked after. My mother continues to be very happy at Albion Court and I feel assured that she is being very well looked after. On a general note, I visit my mother regularly and must say that the exceptionally high standard presented by Albion Court never drops, thank you.

I am the grandaughter of one of the residents, the staff are playful to us and him. When he needs a change they preserve his dignity and privacy by asking us to leave the room. The staff are lovely to speak to, they offer us a drink. They help when we ask them to. Overall I would recommend this care

I visited my grandad today, all the staff said hello to me and was very friendly. We got outside and the nurse asked if we wanted a drink and gave my grandad some apple juice. I was speaking with Grandad and the nurses were talking and dancing with the other patients, it was so lovely to see the care
and joy in their faces. I am very pleased with the service my grandad is receiving and the laughs he gets to have with the nurses.

There is a good team working on my mother's floor and I am kept well-informed and feel able to ask questions about her medical care. Staff are respectful and will always knock if the door to Mum's room is closed. Although quite a few of the residents need a lot of oversight and attention, there is always
time for everyone. I think it would be good if management had a formal one-to-one with residents' next of kin on a half-yearly basis. This would allow for feedback on more generic areas as well as specific floors.
Reply from Beverley Aldridge, Home Manager at Albion Court Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for taking the time to review Albion Court Care Home in Birmingham and for your lovely words. Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.570) out of 10 for Albion Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.771 for Albion Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare is calculated as follows: ( (148 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 188 Ratings = 4.771
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.799 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Albion Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 89 registered maximum number of service users is 17.8. 16 Positive Reviews ÷ 17.8 = 0.899
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
