Anjulita Court is a superb care home. All the staff are caring and work tiresomely to make residents have a great stay. The pandemic has been such a difficult time for all and Anjulita has and continues to be excellent in keeping up regular communications with family members. I would especially like
to thank the member of staff who has been caring for my Mother-in-Law since 2016 and the Administration Manager who is very helpful in sorting out any queries and of course the General Manager. In addition to the excellent care that is provided, the staff are always mindful of what would be in the best interests of the residents and have recommended music therapy to my Mother-in-Law who responds well. I thoroughly recommend Anjulita Court.
Reply from Ernie Botley, Home Manager at Anjulita CourtMany thanks for the great feedback about our team at Anjulita Court. We are really pleased that MHA fundraising is now supporting two days a week service here from our music therapist.

Anjulita Court provides a friendly and professional caring environment. All of the many staff that we have encountered, are very caring and efficient. A strong focus on the well-being of residents is apparent. The home is well designed and fully equipped, with many additional services and support provided.

Mum moved into Anjulita Court in August 2020, a difficult time for everybody and at short notice. From the start, the whole team were incredibly flexible, understanding, and helpful. Whilst she has lived here all the staff, care staff, and administrative, have provided excellent care for her and have
really got to know her. They really appreciate her likes and dislikes and respect her preferences and personality. I don't live locally but they could not have been more accommodating enabling me to visit whilst maintaining infection protection rules and keeping the residents and staff safe. I feel very well informed and have full confidence in the care team, and I am impressed with the management team who seem to be constantly looking for ways to introduce initiatives to keep their residents and families happy. I can recommend this facility wholeheartedly.

Obviously, it’s been a difficult year for everyone with restricted visiting for relatives but Mum appears to be well looked after and well cared for during these tough times. Visits have been facilitated in line with government guidance whenever possible. Activities for residents have, sadly, been very
restricted because of the pandemic.
Reply from Ernie Botley, Home Manager at Anjulita CourtThank you for the feedback to the Anjulita team. Your feedback is very encouraging for the staff team who as you say have worked through the stressful year to maintain safety and care for all residents and each other. We are very conscious of the reduction in activity, especially communal activity in our central foyer as we have kept residents on different units apart for infection prevention reasons. We will be focusing more effort on meaningful activity for residents and hope that we can also involve relatives more as the restrictions ease. Thank you again.

Mum has been in Anjulita Court since December 2020 when it became necessary, at very short notice, to find her full-time care. At a very traumatic time in our lives, particularly as a result of lockdown, the staff at Anjulita have been supportive, attentive and caring. Since Mum has lived there, she
has had a couple of bouts of ill health, the most recent being in February. The staff identified the issue quickly and dealt with it efficiently and professionally. I was kept in touch with all developments and at all times, I have had peace of mind that Mum is being well looked after.
Reply from Ernie Botley, Home Manager at Anjulita CourtThank you for your ratings and comments about the responses, support and care that the staff have provided. We have maintained the service open through lockdown where possible. We are pleased to have provided urgent support where needed within the limitations of the testing and quarantine regulations. Thank you for your vote of confidence in the staff and management here. Your positive feedback is really appreciated by the team.

My mum has been a resident since August 2020 and considering the tough times everyone has had to cope with the staff have been exceptional. All staff are very approachable and friendly and helped mum settle in very well with care and compassion.

From a distance of 200 miles and a prolonged absence because of covid 19, my gratitude of Anjulita is difficult to measure. For the carers of Anjulita, this is not just a job; this is a vocation. With regard to how the Anjulita team deals with both residents and the associated families, it is the emotional
intelligence of the team that is most humbling; this care is the very essence of Christianity. I am profoundly grateful to have this new home for my Mum.
Reply from Ernie Botley, Home Manager at Anjulita CourtThank you from the team at Anjulita for your review and your ratings. We are fortunate to have many staff who have been working at the home for several years. This helps enormously in providing consistent and personal care to residents and families that you talk about. We are all hoping to welcome back relatives and friends as we come out from the prolonged absences caused by the pandemic.

This is a remarkable place, run by people who really care, with an ethos of deep respect and tender kindness to the residents. Considering what care homes have been through this year, they have stayed unfailingly calm and positive, communicating what little information (to start with) the government
have them as well as they could while staff were themselves ill and terribly under pressure. The hands-on staff are absolutely wonderful with my aunt, who has specific nursing needs. She’s been here for I think 5 years now. They have also been amazingly kind to me and my whole family when we’ve been able to visit. The staff that support them do an excellent job too, and the admin team are incredibly high functioning, and he leads in a way that I deeply respect as it gets loyalty and high standards without bullying. He has been endlessly patient with me and my family’s questions. We looked at many homes in this area, and Anjulita was by miles the best one. It still is.
Reply from Ernie Botley, Home Manager at Anjulita CourtThank you for taking the time to provide such positive feedback to the team here. It really does give the staff a lift to know their care and compassion is appreciated by the family.

I have visited my Grandma several times at the home on the first-floor Dementia unit. Every time I visit care staff are sat at the dining table talking to each other and ignoring residents. Before the inevitable response of "completing paperwork," this could be done sat with residents in the lounge
or involving residents in their paperwork.
People are left sat without stimulation, interaction or care with staff talking to each other. I work in the industry and am confident there is no consideration to Dementia care at this service at all with the care home being based on a religious ideal rather than a specialist care setting to best meet the needs of individuals who require care and support.
There are far better options available, providing excellent care for similar price ranges for private paying customers.
Reply from Ernie Botley, Home Manager at Anjulita CourtThank you for your feedback; it is important that documentation is completed in a timely manner but this should be done whilst sitting with our residents. We will use your feedback to make improvements. We are proud of our links to the Methodist Church but please be assured that Anjulita Court is a specialist care setting and we are currently working with our Dementia Care Lead as part of our Dementia Strategy. I would be very happy to meet with you to discuss any concerns that you have.

My father was admitted directly from hospital. On arrival, he was given a hot meal made especially for him and was made comfortable in his room. The senior carer and the carers are taking very good care of him, and whenever I visit he is content, clean and presentable - thank you! All the staff throughout
the home seem very skilled and compassionate. This kindness has helped our family tremendously.

This home is misrepresented on their website by stating its a care home for Dementia and having a specialist care category with Alzheimer's. Please note this is not the case! Be very careful when looking at placing a loved one here in the dementia unit as the management suggested my father in law needed
a nursing dementia unit after he was a little challenging some times when it came to personal care. Very disappointed with the standard of care at this facility and lack of training for the dementia unit. I feel they just want residents that just sit all day and are easy to care for. I would like to say thank you to some of the care team who are excellent at their job and have a full understanding of Dementia care needs.
Reply from Amanda Weir, Area Manager at Anjulita CourtThank you for taking the time to feedback your comments in relation to Anjulita Court. I am sorry that you feel the Home is misrepresented on our website. Please be assured that we do our very best to care for each resident in line with their needs, however, there are times when it is necessary for an alternative placement to be found when we are unable to meet the needs of the individual. Please be assured that all our staff have the benefit of a wide range of training including sessions from other organisations and that our Head of Dementia visits services on a regular basis to provide ongoing support and advice. Your kind comments in relation to the care team are much appreciated and I will ensure your feedback is shared with them.

My mother was a resident in Anjulita Court for nearly four years. I held Power of Attorney for her and looked after all her affairs. She died at the end of March, 2019 aged almost 100 years. Throughout her stay she was treated with dignity and respect, and, as an only son, I am immensely grateful to
the Anjulita for the love and support, and care given not only to my mother but to me on the day she died. In particular, the chaplain was unobtrusive but so reassuring. I cannot praise all the staff enough. I would rate the Anjulita as a first class establishment.

I have been in this unit for almost 7 years. I sleep well, eat well and have as much freedom as my physical condition allows. We have an excellent Chaplin and carers. I am allowed to play the keyboard at any time and that gives me great pleasure, even if I don't always play the notes in the right order.
So I say three cheers for MHA and NHS

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.966)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.966) out of 10 for Anjulita Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.966 for Anjulita Court is calculated as follows: ( (259 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 268 Ratings = 4.966
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Anjulita Court is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 62 registered maximum number of service users is 12.4, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
