I have just moved my dad from here. He has Parkinsons with time critical medication. They have run out of this medication on one occasion and it took my dad to alert them he had missed a dose...to be told we have none. He missed 2 doses and had severe tremors and slurred speech. Other times it was late, one time 3 hours late. There is a 15 minute window before side effects can be felt. There was a serious lack of medicine knowledge with one Senior in particular. Nobody asked my dad if he wanted to leave his room and I have been there when food put in front of him without a single word being spoke. Obviously, some staff were notblike this. However, security was a concern as visitors are given the number for the front door to get in and out! Dad was also on a fluid restriction and once again this was not properly monitored by certain staff.
I would like to understand why I a male adult who has full capacity am still in bed at 10:55 am? Despite several calls to staff and management I am being ignored, whilst other patients without any capacity are being showered. Priority surely should be made to those that have the mental capacity to enjoy their day, however because I am still being ignored in bed I am getting understandably stressed.
We are always balancing needs and priorities and are fully committed to being proactive and responsive. We support a wide range of people with long term conditions and cognitive impairments and they are all equally important. The group clinical lead made contact with you immediately via phone and email and will work with you and the onsite management team to find a satisfactory resolution.
The manager and staff of chestnut suite do a great job of caring for the residents, the go above and beyond to help them and us, it's not an easy job due to the various natures of disability in the home and the knock on affect of behaviour but they do amazing. I stay for Sunday dinner most weeks and cannot fault the food and hospital of the team, I'm am eternally grateful for everything they do

With my Mam living over 200miles away, it has been difficult not being able to see her as often as I'd like. After a previous care home didn't work out, I was anxious about finding somewhere that would support her wellbeing. I can honestly say that Laura and the staff on Sycamore have given me this peace of mind. From the beginning, they have been open, attentive and supportive - not just to my Mam, but to us navigating the distance. Angela and Brenda communicate regularly, keep me updated and make time to answer my questions. It's clear they genuinely care about her as a person, not just a resident. The patience, dignity and kindness show in how much more settled and comfortable she is now. The environment is warm and welcoming, and all the team make a real effort to create a sense of home for her. Being far away is never easy but knowing she is somewhere she is respected and truly cared for makes all the difference.

From the moment she arrived, the staff welcomed her with genuine warmth and respect, making her feel safe and at home. The environment is clean, calm and thoughtfully maintained, all the team on Sycamore go the extra mile to create a lovely atmosphere filled with dignity & kindness. Whether it's helping with daily routine, offering a friendly smile or keeping us up to date as we live some 200 miles away, they consistently show the kind of care you hope for but don't always find.

Woodside Grange has provided my Grandma with reliable and empathetic care. After intially being apprehensive and reluctant to move Grandma into a care home, Laura and her team at Sycamore eased our concerns and gave us peace of mind. We know that she is safe and cared for by every member of the care team and cleaning staff, who regularly go above and beyond! The team is skillfully lead by Laura, who is one of a kind and provides regular communication and solves everything with a smile! The culture is one of being open to feedback and striving for the best.

My mam Annie has been in Woodside Grange for 2 years on Sycamore Suite. The staff are lovely, so friendly and helpful, my mam thoroughly enjoys living here. Laura who was a Senior on mam' s floor and promoted to management earlier this year has been absolutely brilliant, she has been so supportive to me and if there are any issues she makes sure they are dealt with. She has been a rock to me and has helped me to come to terms with my mam needing a care home and I don't know what I would have done without her. I also want to thank Angela she is so caring and attentive with my mam, she always helps mam to maintain her personal hygiene and regular grooming which helps me to keep my promise to my mam that I would always make sure she looks nice, and has her hair and nails done. I would also like to thank Matt, Brenda and Godstine (not sure of spelling), they are brilliant with my mam and very supportive to me. And lastly to the maintenance who helped mam move to a new room that she loves.

I am absolutely over the moon with all aspects of the care given to my mam. Carers, cleaners, in fact, every member of staff has gone above the job rolls. The staff are there to support family of the residents, the manager is approachable for anything and listens to you and acts upon any question you ask. Barbara joined St Martins Care in June 2022 as The Deputy Manager but has progressed and taken over the role of the Registered Manager at the beginning of 2023. Barbara says that she sort of fell into care after returning from overseas when her husband was in the armed forces. She started as a domiciliary carer with a small domiciliary company and progressed to a supervisor not knowing if she would like care. However, she stayed with the company for 7 years and fell in love with caring for the elderly. Barbara decided that she wanted to progress into the management side of social care so she went to work for another domiciliary company as a case manager. This entailed doing pre assessments with the service user before the care package started whilst retaining some contact with the services user. Barbara stayed with the company and progressed her career as a deputy manager and then a registered manager. However, she missed day-to-day contact with service users so applied for a role in a residential care home so she could continue within a management role but also have more contact with the residents. Although Woodside Grange is the biggest of St Martins Care’s homes, Barbara says, “it still has that homely feel which comes from the great team of staff and the care they deliver is second to none. We have a new management team in place, who are very passionate, caring and dedicated and I look forward to working with them ensuring Woodside Grange continues to deliver the best care we possibly can.”

Lisa joined St Martins Care in August 2012 as an Activities Co-Ordinator at the Windermere Grange home. She soon realised that care was in her blood and completed her NVQ level 2 in Health & Social Care. She transferred to Woodside Grange in June 2015 and worked across all units before becoming the first staff member of the Chestnut Suite Learning Disabilities Unit which opened in January 2016. Lisa's son has autism and learning disabilities and she cared for him for 18 years before he moved into residential care. Reflecting on this experience, Lisa says "at first I found life very difficult to deal with. I felt that I had failed him. I soon realised that my knowledge and patience around dealing with all the ups and downs bringing my son up could be put to good use. Working in the care sector made me feel worthwhile again." When asked about her vision for the future, Lisa says "Chestnut Suite is a lively and friendly place to live. I aim to ensure everyone feels safe and secure here and feel that this is their home. I am hoping that in the future Chestnut Suite becomes a stand alone unit and although I enjoy being part of Woodside Grange, I feel for myself and my staff, that this is the next step to developing and improving our support for adults with learning disabilities in our area."

Clare began working in care within the community around 15 years ago and realised quite quickly that she had a passion for providing care for those who were in need. She worked within the community for around 2 years before taking a leap to work within a residential setting. Clare began working in a care home which had some sentimental meaning for her as her mother had previously been a deputy manager there and she wanted to make her proud. Clare knew she did not want to progress her career in a clinical role so decided, when offered, to accept a promotion to a senior care assistant. Clare joined St Martins Care at Woodside Grange in 2016 as a senior care assistant and she cannot see herself working anywhere else. Clare says, “my heart and soul is with Woodside Grange. I believe we offer the best care and always strive to ensure all residents are treated with the utmost respect, dignity and empathy”. In October, Clare was offered a role as the quality lead within Woodside Grange. Clare says, “I was so proud of myself and overwhelmed that I had been offered this opportunity and want to work to achieve outstanding on our CQC report. I enjoy being hands-on with care and I am not too proud to get stuck in where needed.”
