I cannot praise Avery House enough. My friend has been in for a month now, and every time I go, the staff are so friendly, welcoming and so caring to the residents. I tell my friend 'it is like being in a hotel'. This afternoon they had the most fantastical musical afternoon. The residents were so happy, singing and joining in the dancing. The carers really 'care', and enjoy working there. Lovely people.

The first time I arrived at Avery House to visit my sister-in-law I was taken aback by the whole appearance, I thought I was in a 5 star hotel. The receptionist was very courteous and helpful, the members of staff I found equally helpful. The home is kept immaculately clean and up to date with its decor, my sister-in-law's room on the ground floor overlooks a beautiful garden through her patio doors. Every day there's a full itinerary of activities for the residents and trips out. The residents are treated with respect and kindness, I came away knowing that my sister-in-law is well cared for and happy.

Avery House has a lovely setting and within a dedicated team of carers plus all of the other roles - managers, administrators, activities people, housekeepers, catering and maintenance staff - whose work is vital to provide a safe, secure and welcoming home for elderly people.
It is a fairly large home which affords a highly-developed organisation but it still has a warm feel to it because the staff are friendly, and as it has four floors, each floor is like a little home in itself. I've always observed that residents are treated with warmth and dignity and I know that my mother is well looked after here.

Attended a bistro evening that was organised by the home in which my grandmother is a resident. I have to admit that I couldn't have provided a team of carers and auxiliary staff that look after the residents with such respect and dignity. Keep up the excellent work!

My connection to Hampton Grove is deeply personal, as my wife, Karen, is a full-time resident here. This unique perspective allows me to understand first-hand the journey that families go through when a loved one moves into care. As an ambassador, I act as a friendly and familiar face for other residents and their families, offering a bridge between home life and our community.
You’ll often see me around the home, whether I’m socially engaging with staff and families or rolling up my sleeves to help out. I particularly enjoy getting involved with our activities programme or spending time in the garden, helping to keep our outdoor spaces vibrant and welcoming for everyone.

Hi, I’m Maria Poghirc, the Unit Manager here at Hampton Grove. My journey with Barchester began in 2024 at one of our sister homes in Lincolnshire, where I was a Peripatetic Senior Carer. In November 2025, I was thrilled to join the Hampton Grove family in my current role.
Care is my true passion. I feel incredibly blessed to give back and support our residents every day. Quite simply, my job makes me happy and proud. I am ambitious and hardworking, qualities that led me to become a finalist in the Barchester Care Awards in 2025. My goal is to ensure that every resident here enjoys a life-enriching experience that is truly their 'best life'.
Outside of work, I’m very close with my mum and the rest of my family. We all share a huge love for travel, and the furthest I’ve explored so far is the Caribbean! When I’m not planning my next trip, I love socialising and spending quality time with family & friends.
