Avery House has a lovely setting and within a dedicated team of carers plus all of the other roles - managers, administrators, activities people, housekeepers, catering and maintenance staff - whose work is vital to provide a safe, secure and welcoming home for elderly people.

It is a fairly large

home which affords a highly-developed organisation but it still has a warm feel to it because the staff are friendly, and as it has four floors, each floor is like a little home in itself. I've always observed that residents are treated with warmth and dignity and I know that my mother is well looked after here.

Excellent care home.
Staff are always helpful.
In my mother's words, "the staff are lovely".
The rooms are clean and tidy as are the association rooms.
I have experienced the activities on my visits which are always enjoyable.

It was like staying at a grand hotel. All the staff were exceptionally caring, kind, helpful and supportive.
I cannot recommend Avery House highly enough. The facilities were outstanding.
The food was excellent, the hair salon was a lovely treat, just like a pamper experience. Don't hesitate in stay
at Avery House, you will be delighted.

My wife was a resident of Avery House for five months until January 2017. She has Alzheimers and has difficulty in communicating her needs.
The management and staff managed her difficulties with care and imagination and were always ready to chat and distract her if she was agitated or upset, over and
above what was expected.
Any problems were dealt with immediately. There was always a friendly welcome and I felt she was in a safe, secure environment.
She was settled, enjoyed the activities. Unfortunately, her condition deteriorated to a point where she had to leave for a more suitable environment. Many thanks to Avery House.

Mum has been at Avery House Care Home for 5 years and has been happy most of that time. The staff are friendly and helpful and it is nice to know mum is being cared for in a well-run care home. I would recommend Avery House Care Home to others who are looking for care for a loved one in Peterborough.
The management and team are always available if any concerns need to be raised and take any action if required in a timely manner. All in all a good home with the good staff.

Attended a bistro evening that was organised by the home in which my grandmother is a resident. I have to admit that I couldn't have provided a team of carers and auxiliary staff that look after the residents with such respect and dignity. Keep up the excellent work!

Dad came here as a lonely 87 year old who had lost his confidence following a fall. In the time he has been here he has become part of a friendly and supportive community which has helped restore his quality of life, I would not trust his care to just anyone and searched for a while to find the right
place for him. Avery House is definitely it and I would recommend it highly.

In the two year's my uncle has been a resident I've visited virtually every week and I've never seen or heard anything going on which has caused me any concern. The staff say they want to treat residents as they would want their own mother/father to be treated and this comes across.

The care both my mum and mother-in-law receives here is beyond words, the staff treat them both like their own mum's as I would expect. The home is managed very professionally and take great care to make sure all the resident's needs are met and also have time for the families at all times. My mum has
settled very well here after trying two other homes who couldn't meet her needs. The care here is so good. I have already put my name down for a room when I am ready, Seriously.

I believe it would be very difficult to find another care home where residents could have better care. Any needs are attended to promptly and staff are cheerful and friendly. Their attitude towards relatives is first class. Any concerns are always discussed and satisfactory outcomes achieved. If my
husband was not happy there I would know just by looking at him! The leadership of the management team permits through all departments.

Dad has been in the home for 18 months he was in fair health when he arrived, but has deteriorated in the last few weeks. He is cared for very well, on the whole. Sometimes I find that messages do not get passed on, But the staff are very friendly, quite a high turn over through, sadly.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.716)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.716) out of 10 for Barchester Hampton Grove Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.716 for Barchester Hampton Grove Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (205 Excellents x 5) + (62 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 275 Ratings = 4.716
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Hampton Grove Care Home is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 87 registered maximum number of service users is 17.4, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
