There has been a big improvement in the home under the new management. The staff have been allocated to each floor and this ensures continuity of care and also allows the residents to recognise and relax with familiar faces.

A very happy and well run home. It is always clean, fresh and tidy. My friend is very happy and content with her home and loves the staff. There has been a continued improvement at the home with the new manager. Al the staff are motivated and very much customer centred.

My mother has been at Avery House for nearly one year. During this time she has received good care and staff have treated her as an individual with individual needs. She is treated with dignity and management have always listened and dealt with any requests made.

My mother is on the dementia floor and the residents are treated very well, but many times there are not enough carers available for the amount of attention the residents require.

Mum came into Avery House in November on respite in 2017, loved it so much and found a new lease of life so, with the help of a social worker, mum came in permanently. The staff are so supportive and make mum feel important and she loves to join in most activities and staff say she thoroughly enjoys it and always has a smile. The home is so clean and fresh and the meals are lovely and very appetising. Having had a personal problem, they have supported me through and through.

My mother-in-law moved into this care home in September. Before that she was in hospital for 10 days, previously having lived in her own home with carers attending.
The team at this care home were excellent in the way they came to the hospital to assess Mum and explained all the procedures very clearly when my wife and I previously visited the care home. The transfer by the NHS was smooth and the welcome at the home was comforting and well carried out. Mum has a lovely light room and has settled in well with excellent support from all the staff. This move has taken a lot of stress out of our lives.

The management and staff were extremely kind, caring and welcoming and this gave us (her family) huge comfort knowing she would receive the care and attention she required. The facilities and room were homely, clean and a very high standard. Unfortunately, my aunt died of a heart attack in September 2017 and the kindness, support and care they gave not only to my aunt but the family, went above and beyond expectations. My connection to Hampton Grove is deeply personal, as my wife, Karen, is a full-time resident here. This unique perspective allows me to understand first-hand the journey that families go through when a loved one moves into care. As an ambassador, I act as a friendly and familiar face for other residents and their families, offering a bridge between home life and our community.

Hi, I’m Maria Poghirc, the Unit Manager here at Hampton Grove. My journey with Barchester began in 2024 at one of our sister homes in Lincolnshire, where I was a Peripatetic Senior Carer. In November 2025, I was thrilled to join the Hampton Grove family in my current role.
Care is my true passion. I feel incredibly blessed to give back and support our residents every day. Quite simply, my job makes me happy and proud.
