The Halloween night was excellent. The staff put so much effort into the entertainment. They were so friendly and a credit to their profession and Avery House Care Home. The food was lovely and the residents really enjoyed themselves.

Amazing, patient, centred care has helped my mother to settle into Avery House Care Home despite living in London since 1950.

Lovely surroundings, close to shops, green spaces and amenities but most importantly extremely caring staff and very hands-on manager. P.S. I love the contact with the young

students doing their DofE.

Impressed with the overall standard of the care home. Particularly impressed with the way in which the staff engage the residents. My uncle appears to be settled and happy in the home he joins in with activities, has formed a friendship and engages well with staff.

My mother-in-law moved into this care home in September. Before that she was in hospital for 10 days, previously having lived in her own home with carers attending.

The team at this care home were excellent in the way they came to the hospital to assess Mum and explained all the procedures very clearly

when my wife and I previously visited the care home. The transfer by the NHS was smooth and the welcome at the home was comforting and well carried out. Mum has a lovely light room and has settled in well with excellent support from all the staff. This move has taken a lot of stress out of our lives.

My great aunt moved from her home of 50 years into Avery House Care home in May 2017. This was a huge lifestyle change and initially, she was upset as she could no longer live independently. The management and staff were extremely kind, caring and welcoming and this gave us (her family) huge comfort
knowing she would receive the care and attention she required. The facilities and room were homely, clean and a very high standard. Unfortunately, my aunt died of a heart attack in September 2017 and the kindness, support and care they gave not only to my aunt but the family, went above and beyond expectations. They are simply amazing.

Welcome - first class, better than any other I have encountered. Staff generally caring, although some will rise to provocation - only human, focus on dementia.
Activities treated as a priority - not as an optional extra as elsewhere.
Any below standard staff do not last long. Comprehensive training,
some of which I have experienced in my capacity as a volunteer with the activities team.
Management team - very strong, there is not one of them I wouldn't have employed myself when in business.

I love visiting my friend who lives at Avery House. He is so happy there.
All staff from the receptionist through to the housekeeping team and carers to management.
I am always made feel welcome. Nothing is too much trouble.
Recently I have witnessed amazing activities with residents on the second
floor, care staff were using Active Mind box - excellent work.
Well done Avery House.

I cannot praise Avery House enough. My friend has been in for a month now, and every time I go, the staff are so friendly, welcoming and so caring to the residents. I tell my friend 'it is like being in a hotel'. This afternoon they had the most fantastical musical afternoon. The residents were
so happy, singing and joining in the dancing. The carers really 'care', and enjoy working there. Lovely people.

The first time I arrived at Avery House to visit my sister-in-law I was taken aback by the whole appearance, I thought I was in a 5 star hotel. The receptionist was very courteous and helpful, the members of staff I found equally helpful. The home is kept immaculately clean and up to date with its
decor, my sister-in-law's room on the ground floor overlooks a beautiful garden through her patio doors. Every day there's a full itinerary of activities for the residents and trips out. The residents are treated with respect and kindness, I came away knowing that my sister-in-law is well cared for and happy.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.716)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.716) out of 10 for Barchester Hampton Grove Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.716 for Barchester Hampton Grove Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (205 Excellents x 5) + (62 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 275 Ratings = 4.716
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Hampton Grove Care Home is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 87 registered maximum number of service users is 17.4, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
