I am extremely dissatisfied with the management and leadership at Lavender Court who have presided over a terrible experience for my Mother and her relatives. Examples include 1. Staff locking themselves in the nurse's office to avoid patients and relatives seeking help and advice. 2. Under resourcing
at weekends resulting in the 30min checks decided as necessary by medical staff not being followed (no checks being recorded on two separate Saturdays). 3. Clothes regularly go missing despite being labelled. 4. My letter of complaint issued in July still remains unanswered. 5. Payment of invoices are being chased that have not been issued. 6. Mum's granddaughter being pressed into giving personal care by a carer as he had no colleague available to assist. The list goes on. Fortunately, my Mum has now been moved to a setting where there are adequate staff to care for her and the seniors show true leadership.

Lavender Court is a wonderful home with staff who always act with the utmost kindness, professionalism and integrity. My grandmother was a patient in the dementia unit for the last two years of her life, having battled with dementia for several years before passing away. My grandmother had severe issues
with her sleep at night, and the staff often made her a cup of tea or milk with biscuits to settle her until she became tired enough to sleep. During the pandemic, management took every measure to keep residents safe while maintaining contact with one or two primary contacts. All other family members were able to make appointments to speak to grandma over Skype. The diligence and kindness of the staff at Lavender Court never went unnoticed, particularly her care team and so many other fantastic caring staff. They looked after my grandmother perfectly right up until her final moments, and I cannot fault the home in any way. I would highly recommend it.

Having been discharged from hospital for an expected end of life care period of eight weeks my father was eventually with Lavender Court for fifteen weeks and at the end (when he was unable to fully communicate with me) was delighted to tell me every time I went in to see him, how content he was with

My mother has been at Lavender Court for the last seven years. In that time she has been treated with great respect of care. The staff have been fantastic with her even when my mother could be demanding at times. Sadly my mother pass away in February 2022. She was treated with brilliant care in her

During the last weeks of my dad's life, the staff at Lavender Court could not have done more for him or me. He was cared for with dignity, respect and love. Mum moved in just before Christmas. She was very anxious and sad, but the staff have been amazing, and she has settled in very well. Mum really enjoys the food, and they regularly get brought drinks/snacks. The staff are also very supportive to us as well. The home has a very warm, welcoming feel, and

Our relative has been a dementia unit resident for two years, is well cared for, and mostly happy! Staff contacted us regularly with an update of our relative when she contracted covid in early 2021. The unit staff are dedicated, friendly, and approachable. Telephone contact to the care home has been/still
is quite problematic. It is very frustrating in having to redial sometimes up to ten to fifteen times when the answerphone states no - one is available (with no facility to leave a message/return to the main menu for another option), or the call is eventually answered by another unit who are unable to help. The frustrating result is to send an email in the hope that relevant supervisor (s) are on duty. The telephone issue has also been mentioned to us by outside agencies, not ideal when more urgent contact is needed. However, it is currently easy to speak with staff face to face on an actual visit regarding any concerns. We feel we have a very good rapport with the dementia unit staff and appreciate their honesty and help in coping with issues surrounding dementia.

Communication is a real problem for Lavender Court between the home and the resident's relatives. During the pandemic shutdown, only one phone line was accessible to call into the home to speak with relatives, leading to blocked lines, and once through, only one mobile phone was available for the home.
Also, issues and moves of residents were made without consultation with the next of kin. Sign on from door out of date, answer machine messages out of date. People/staff in charge of residents changed regularly without notification. Communication is key for the resident's relatives, it appears there is no planning for this vital part.

Lavender Court Carehome in Taunton has a warm, comfortable atmosphere. It is a 'home' rather than an 'institution'. The staff are professional and compassionate. They know our mother well and all of them greet her by name. The supervisors are alert to problems and deal with them quickly and efficiently.
The families of residents are treated with respect and are kept fully informed. Sometimes covid19 rules have been applied in a pedantic way when common sense and pragmatism would have been better. However, staff have been heroic in difficult circumstances.

My mother spend the last two years of her life at Lavender Court and I am certain they were the happiest of her entire life. She was warm, clean, well-fed, and cared for with the utmost devotion - far better than any of her family could have done. I am eternally grateful to all the staff for their care

I was very impressed by the warm welcome and efficiency with which my father was accepted into the home. It was difficult for him being transferred to a new environment for his end of life care, but all the staff were amazingly supportive and caring. They kept me up to date with events via regular phone
calls and were very courteous and helpful at all times. The atmosphere is efficient, friendly and very caring all round - a big applause and thank you to all who make this happen.

On my visits to Lavendar Court I have always found the staff to be friendly and efficient. I also feel they have handled the situation very well in the current pandemic. Parking has become a problem even more than usual, but I appreciate this is a lot to do with the current upgrading.

My mother has been in Lavender Court for some time now. She is very happy there and we cannot imagine her being anywhere else. Her room is very cosy and she loves it. All the staff are very caring and friendly and they go out of their way to make sure Mum has everything that she needs and they keep

I felt I needed to let others know about the great work the team in the residential section of the home have continued to provide, high standards of care and support to my father-in-law. During these difficult months of covid-19 the team have worked hard to ensure he has been able to continue to have
contact with us his family across the world. Great organisation to ensure the whole family could be present on his birthday via skype to sing happy birthday and have some great banter.
Keeping me informed of any changes and how we can help to maintain his wellness has been at the forefront of the great care the team has provided.

I had to write to say what an outstanding member of staff has looked after my parents. He looked after both my mum and dad in the home and he was caring and thoughtful in everything that he did for both of them. During the Coronavirus, he kept me updated on my mum’s progress when I was unable to visit
the home. Anyone who is fortunate enough to have a member of their family looked after by this carer will know that their relative is given the best care in the world. He is a real asset for the home and I can’t praise him highly enough. Another member of staff who I spoke to sometimes seemed very caring too and also updated me on my mum’s care. My parents were given the best care at Lavender Court, and their carer who works on Petals the dementia ward makes this happen. Thank you for everything that you did for both my parents, I really appreciated it.

This is an outstanding nursing home. The best I have had dealings with over a forty-year period in which parents, relatives and friends have needed to be "looked after" in their declining years. I cannot imagine a better place, because medical care and competence is matched by the friendliness of management
and staff towards residents, relatives and visitors alike. Outstanding is its aim and it has achieved it.

The professionalism of the staff at all levels within Lavender Court, coupled with their care and compassion to their residents and visitors has been outstanding during the sadly short stay of a dear friend. It was apparent that there is a genuine commitment to ensuring the highest standards of care
and wellbeing and to creating an environment which is friendly, warm and welcoming. Managers and staff alike are to be commended for creating such a special facility. The only reason for entering a 'don't know' response to questions simply reflects that the circumstances were such that they could not be taken advantage of but I've no doubt that these too would reflect the high standards in every other aspect of the home.

Lavender has a dedicated, caring and happy team who thrive on their dedication to their job roles and to care for our residents. We have a very friendly environment and do our best to always make you feel welcome.


Lavender Court has a lovely open courtyard area, which can be used at any time by residents, along with other outside garden areas, and we enjoy hosting some brilliant events in this space. The home is situated next door to a Lidl and very close to pubs, takeaways and Taunton town centre – our residents and their relatives make good use of these facilities.


We have a team of four activity coordinators who are so enthusiastic about ensuring we have lots of activities available at Lavender Court, along with outsourced entertainers and theatre productions. We also try and accommodate as many outings as possible to garden centres, cafes, going into town, walks around Hamilton Park and going to events such as the Taunton Flower Show.


I feel very proud and grateful to be the Manager of Lavender Court.
