I would not recommend the dementia unit to any of my friends or family. Poor dementia care provided by staff. No consistency of staff. Communication from leadership was virtually non-existent. I more often than not found my Dad's bathroom dirty and had to request it was cleaned. The shower was broken and I had to request it be repaired. The food provided was of a poor quality. I often found residents were unsupervised in the lounge area because of understaffing. Leadership were unresponsive when confronted about issues and problems we faced with the dementia care we were receiving for my Dad. Leadership were never seen on the dementia floor. There was an activities timetable displayed on the wall but the family saw only one activity taking place. Needless to say, we moved my Dad out of Hatton Grange.

The staff work very hard and are lovely with the residents. Some are overworked and do not have time to spend with individuals who might need more care. The facilities are lovely, rooms and lounges. The laundry gets lost. It is very hard to get any extra care for the residents but that is not the fault of the staff. Hatton Grange serves its purpose and they do it well.

My aunt who has lived independently for many years has moved to Hatton Grange to recover post-operative. She has settled extremely well and even though she could now return home she is choosing the extend her stay which speaks volumes for the staff here who are very professional and caring.

Mum has settled in now, the staff are warm and friendly meals are enjoyed. Covid restrictions are adhered to, so not been able to visit as often as I'd like but I do understand.

I wish the caregivers wore name badges other than that I am happy with the service.

It's been a difficult 18 to 12 but the home and staff have managed to keep Mum safe and kept me updated on Mum. the portal proved invaluable in maintaining contact. Staff are approachable and friendly and mum continues to remain settled. Which is down to the care she's receiving. Thank you.

Overall Experience
Hatton Grange is a well-designed purpose-built care home that provides an ideal environment for residents. My wife became a resident in February 2020 and quickly settled in. This was due, in large part, to the interest that the staff took in her. They took care to discover her interests and encouraged her to paint and draw. I cannot speak highly enough of the care that she has received and the level of communication between our family has been first-rate.

The Coronavirus pandemic has been an extremely difficult time, with no visits being possible for many months, but the provision of a portal has enabled a member of the family to speak my wife each day. In short, I do not think that my wife could be better cared for.

It has been so difficult not seeing my grandma through lockdown but the home has made it so easy for myself and my family to communicate with her through this difficult time, we have had constant FaceTimes so we can still enjoy having a lovely conversation, the staff have been so understanding always making time for us to take it in turns for a portal call even though we are such a big family.

I would never have thought we would be involved in something like a pandemic but I’m glad my grandma is in such a lovely home where you can see how caring and helpful the staff really are. Thank you each and every one of you from management to the team leaders, carers and domestic staff, even the kitchen staff and admin - each and every one of them do a fantastic job.
