My husband and I visited our long-time friend, currently suffering from Parkinsons disease/dementia. What a joy to visit Ashlands Manor, a Nursing Home so sparkling in decor with the most friendliest/caring staff. We were offered tea/coffee and delicious home-made cake whilst waiting for our friend
to finish his lunch. What an uplifting moment to see our friend, in his wheelchair, looking well-groomed and his happy disposition shining through, such a HUGE difference from our last visit to his previous Nursing Home. The staff ooze cheerfulness, care and compassion.

Being a discerning medical person, I despaired at visits to Salford care homes, malodorous, filthy and populated by tired, under-performing staff! Then, like a sprinkling of fairy dust, I found Ashlands Manor Care Centre for mum. After weeks in the hospital with institutional delirium, a shameful
aspect of today's NHS, she regained her confidence, learned to beat me at Scrabble (again !) and was thriving. Whilst there is no doubt Ashlands Manor Care Centre is akin to a 5-star hotel aesthetically, with room/patio doors leading onto carefully tended lawns, professionalism prevails. Efficiency/sense of humour pervades the management team, as does the warmth of their diligent team. Sadly, mum has now died. Ashlands Manor Care Centre was amazing on her final day, attaining hospital admission far quicker than if she'd been at home. Mum would have wanted me to write this review, and I am pleased to do so. Thanks to the management and their team. Continue to be amazing guys. x

My father has recently moved into Ashlands Manor Care Centre and so far so good! The staff couldn't be more attentive and are very competent in dealing with his lack of mobility. The environment is pristine but very comfortable and he is delighted with the food. It's a real relief to him somewhere he
feels comfortable and happy.

Having helped my friend to look after her mother for several years, I also helped her to choose suitable residential care.
Ashlands Manor was the perfect choice.
The beautifully designed rooms and lounges lift the spirits and are a welcome change from the institutionalised décor you find elsewhere.
Above
all, the devoted care from all staff ensured that my friend's mother settled in quickly and has recovered her joie de vivre and optimism.
The change is miraculous.
I could not be more impressed.

Ashlands is like a 5-star hotel - a true luxury home. The staff are brilliant, so responsive, so caring and create a great home for my father, who at 1st struggled with the idea of moving into a 'care home'. But it really isn't just any care home. It's a place of comfort and the quality of care has
enabled my father to get the support he needs and make a recovery we just never expected. He's walking at quite a pace with just a stick now, has put on weight for the 1st time in months, enjoys the terrific menu (what a choice!) and his walks in the garden. I think we should all move in !!

I can't praise the quality of care at Ashlands Manor Care Centre enough; it is fantastic and boosted Mum's morale beyond my wildest expectations. The staff are unfailingly kind, patient, knowledgeable and compassionate in the way that they care for my 91-year-old mother who is now so frail that the
daily tasks of washing, dressing etc had become a dispiriting and a frightening ordeal in her own home. The whole team is without exception very attentive without being intrusive, encouraging her to do as much for herself as she can whilst monitoring discreetly nutrition, hydration weight and temperature. They respond sensitively to changes in her mood. Gentle and reassuring when she is low and jolly when she is in top form. The food, housekeeping and décor are outstanding like a 5-star hotel and this has had the most amazing effect on mum's self-esteem; she is wearing jewellery and perfume again! The wrap around 24/7 care is superb and has put so much quality and bounce back into mum's life for which we are all grateful.

My Father-in-Law moved into Ashland Manor at the end of April. He is delighted with his care and surroundings, the attention to detail and the kindness, shown towards him by all the staff has been exceptional. The rooms, the dining room and lounges are more like a 5 star hotel. We, the family, are delighted
to see dad to happy in his new home.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.761)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.761) out of 10 for Ashlands Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 40 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.761 for Ashlands Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (393 Excellents x 5) + (71 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (8 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 477 Ratings = 4.761
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashlands Manor Care Home is based on 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 57 registered maximum number of service users is 11.4, which has been reached with 39 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

Hello, my name is Octavia, and I’m delighted to introduce myself as the newly promoted Home Manager at Ashlands Manor Care Centre. I began my journey in healthcare back in 2000 as a student nurse, and since qualifying, I’ve had the opportunity to work in a variety of clinical settings, including Intensive Care, medical and surgical wards, primary care, and corporate health. Six years ago, I moved into health and social care—and I haven’t looked back since. Working in a care home environment has been incredibly rewarding, and it’s where I’ve truly found my passion. I have a strong interest in end-of-life care and dementia support, and I find deep fulfilment in helping residents live with dignity, comfort, and connection. Before joining New Care, I held roles as a Unit Manager and also acted as Deputy Manager, which gave me valuable experience in leading care teams and maintaining high-quality care standards. When I discovered New Care, I immediately felt aligned with their values and vision. Their commitment to person-centred care, delivered in beautifully designed and engaging environments, is something I’m proud to be part of. Ashlands Manor is a truly special place, and I feel honoured to lead such a dedicated and compassionate team. In my new role as Home Manager, I remain committed to supporting both residents and staff, fostering a culture of respect, kindness, and excellence. I look forward to continuing this journey and ensuring that Ashlands remains a place our residents are proud to call home.

I joined Newcare in November 2021 as a Team Leader and have worked in the care sector over 15 years in various roles starting as a bank care assistant and moving up to Deputy Manager in my previous job. I am passionate about providing person centred care to the residents we support. My greatest reward in care is working with people living with Dementia. I hold a Level 3 in Health and Social Care and a NVQ Level 4 Diploma in Leadership and Management. Job Title: Wellbeing Coordinator

I am relatively new to care, with this being my first job within the sector, having worked in the Hospitality and Leisure industry for the last ten years, and gaining my degree in Events Management and Marketing, then working in management at various pubs, restaurants, golf clubs and arenas along the way. I ultimately had a real desire to work within the healthcare sector and was very keen to bring my wide knowledge and experience from my previous roles into this job. I love my job and being able to create a lasting impact on people and being able to make some fantastic new memories with our precious residents and reminisce on the old ones too.
