My mu is very settled and happy in Ashland Manor. The environment is a home from home set-up, which is what the transition for my mum into residential care was stress-free for all concerned. As it's a purpose-built dementia care home, my mum enjoys the freedom to walk around unhindered and has her "own"
routine, rather than being forced into a stressful regime. The carers are kind, patient and tolerant, which is why my mum is so very happy.

During this awful period of time dominated by Covid-19, I have felt very comfortable with the care that has been given to my mum. Appreciating that the home must have been under great pressure the last 12 months I have found the home communicative and helpful.

My aunt has settled in well, enjoys the food and occasional glass of wine. She particularly enjoys not having to join in with organised past times as she relishes in her own company.

Excellent care in a difficult time. I went in there for the first time in 9 months. Everybody was so cheerful and there was plenty going on. It is a great relief to see my mother is so well cared for.

On arrival at Ashlands Manor, my mum was quite weak, tired and undernourished. After only a couple of weeks, my mum is noticeable stronger, more energised and eating and drinking well. In short, much healthier than she has been in a while. The care and attention from the staff is excellent from getting
my mum her favourite foods to encouraging her to join in with activities. A big thank you to care team and all of the team for the care, patience and respect given.

My mother has been a resident at Ashlands Manor Care Centre for nearly three years and during that time she has been extremely well looked after. The staff are amazing and can't do enough for her. The menus are very varied but I think they need to have plainer food for the age they are catering for.

Staff and personnel very helpful. Facilities very good. Meals were very good (but in the case of my Mum, portions too big). Concerned about returning food not left. I personally have been treated well and ade welcome every time I visited. Keep up the good works.

In July 2017 we needed care for both of my partner's parents. Ashlands Manor went above and beyond helping us to secure a safer future for both of us. We had looked at many solutions but when we walked in there, we knew it was the answer. Dad has dementia and likes to mooch about and Ashlands has all
the space to do this and he can go in and out of his room, none of this sit in a circle in the lounge.
He is safe, stimulated, has access to a safe outside balcony, lovely staff who can read his moods, knowing when to cajole him or give him his own space. If he's up all night, staff sit and chat, watch videos, play games, whatever it takes, then he'll sleep all day. There is a state of the art activity table with overhead projector always available for stimulation. Dad is on the middle floor and comes down to join mum for any activities and mum goes up to see him if the staff judge his mood to be OK. The feeling of relief on our part when they are both in Ashlands in unmatched by any other solutions out there.

Mum and dad have been in Ashlands since July 2017. When Dad went into Ashlands he really wasn't very well. He's on the first floor with dementia. He had lost a lot of weight and was struggling. Sixteen months later he's going strong. From the first day, Mum and Dad have been treated with lots of love,
care attention and most important, respect.

They are very well occupied with activities every morning and afternoon. Ashlands is very well managed with the staff going way beyond the call of duty to make sure residents are comfortable. I would happily recommend Ashlands Manor to anybody and have.

We feel very lucky to have found Ashlands Manor where my Mother is very settled and comfortable. She has spent a full year at Ashlands and has received excellent care. Ashlands Manor itself is extremely nice, modern, spacious and well equipped. The rooms are comfortable and have a nice en-suite and
tv. The staff are lovely and go that extra mile to help the residents (and family) and spend time with them. Thank you.

Dad seems to be very settled and happy at Ashlands. The food is very good and he's put a stone on in weight since arriving. His carers are kind and helpful. They are lovely to talk to when I call each week from Australia and always let me know how dad is going.

Ashlands is well presented, clean and comfortable and the staff are generally kind, friendly and hard working. The catering is excellent and Mum enjoys her food.

We have had issues with Mum having to wait to be taken to the toilet as this causes her a lot of stress. However, we have spoken to staff

members in this regard and they are trying to improve the situation. There have been a few issues with Mum not being ready for hospital appointments, but again, having spoken to staff this appears to have improved. Overall Mum seems to be settled and happy.

My husband has settled down really well and very quickly at Ashlands.
He finds the staff very pleasant as do I.
They respond quickly when he rings his bell.
He likes the food and is eating much better than in his previous care home.
My only criticism would be that despite paying £1,000 per week,
he is expected to pay for his incontinence pads.
I know the Local Authority will not provide them but you could!

The facility provides a good level of care. As it is new and purpose built it offers better facilities than many other care homes. Up to 19 residents per floor help maintain a good atmosphere. It is very expensive. My relative is not always complimentary about the food.

My father has only been a resident for a few weeks but the care he has received so far has been fantastic. The staff are wonderful, in particular, the senior care assistant who has been so kind.
The reception staff are also exceptional!
My father has terminal cancer and is being treated with exceptional
kindness and dignity.
I have at last some peace of mind.
Thank you!

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.761)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.761) out of 10 for Ashlands Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 40 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.761 for Ashlands Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (393 Excellents x 5) + (71 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (8 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 477 Ratings = 4.761
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashlands Manor Care Home is based on 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 57 registered maximum number of service users is 11.4, which has been reached with 39 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

Hello, my name is Octavia, and I’m delighted to introduce myself as the newly promoted Home Manager at Ashlands Manor Care Centre. I began my journey in healthcare back in 2000 as a student nurse, and since qualifying, I’ve had the opportunity to work in a variety of clinical settings, including Intensive Care, medical and surgical wards, primary care, and corporate health. Six years ago, I moved into health and social care—and I haven’t looked back since. Working in a care home environment has been incredibly rewarding, and it’s where I’ve truly found my passion. I have a strong interest in end-of-life care and dementia support, and I find deep fulfilment in helping residents live with dignity, comfort, and connection. Before joining New Care, I held roles as a Unit Manager and also acted as Deputy Manager, which gave me valuable experience in leading care teams and maintaining high-quality care standards. When I discovered New Care, I immediately felt aligned with their values and vision. Their commitment to person-centred care, delivered in beautifully designed and engaging environments, is something I’m proud to be part of. Ashlands Manor is a truly special place, and I feel honoured to lead such a dedicated and compassionate team. In my new role as Home Manager, I remain committed to supporting both residents and staff, fostering a culture of respect, kindness, and excellence. I look forward to continuing this journey and ensuring that Ashlands remains a place our residents are proud to call home.

Job Title: Head of Residential

I began working within the care industry when I was 18. I started off as a care assistant in a residential care home after looking after my mum. Over the years I have progressed up to team leader, in home trainer and now working as the head of residential care here at Ashlands. During this time, I have worked with a variety of people from all walks of life. Developing my skills along the way. I have a particular passion for dementia and person-centred care. I particularly enjoy my Job here at Ashland's as it allows me to bring together the skills I have learnt while continuing to develop and provide person centred care to our residents.

Job Title: Head of Dementia Joined: 2021

I joined Newcare in November 2021 as a Team Leader and have worked in the care sector over 15 years in various roles starting as a bank care assistant and moving up to Deputy Manager in my previous job. I am passionate about providing person centred care to the residents we support. My greatest reward in care is working with people living with Dementia. I love working in care as it is fulfilling in making a difference in the residents’ lives, we support and to ensure that they are happy and cared for. I hold a Level 3 in Health and Social Care and a NVQ Level 4 Diploma in Leadership and Management. Since joining Newcare it was evident that the company put the residents first as stated in its Philosophy and vision. I am happy to be a part of Ashlands team and will continue to ensure our residents are cared for to the high standard whilst upholding the company's values.

Job Title: Wellbeing Coordinator

I am relatively new to care, with this being my first job within the sector, having worked in the Hospitality and Leisure industry for the last ten years, and gaining my degree in Events Management and Marketing, then working in management at various pubs, restaurants, golf clubs and arenas along the way. I ultimately had a real desire to work within the healthcare sector and was very keen to bring my wide knowledge and experience from my previous roles into this job. I love my job and being able to create a lasting impact on people and being able to make some fantastic new memories with our precious residents and reminisce on the old ones too.
