My father is very well looked after at Ashlands Manor Care Centre. The staff are kind and friendly to both my father and me. He is comfortable in his room and the home communal areas. The home is clean and tidy. Staff make sure he is eating and drinking and tend to his personal hygiene. They chat to
him and know what he needs to make him happy.

I entered the home to a lovely welcome from the reception lady, she gave me all the information I needed. I visited my friend and was pleasantly surprised. The home is a vibrant friendly place spotlessly clean and warm and very calm. I was also introduced to the nurse WOW!! what a charming lovely young
lady, caring for all the residents.

My sister moved into Ashlands last October, 2024. She has been very happy and is cared for very well, the staff are amazing.
It gives me peace of mind knowing she is happy and settled. I would recommend Ashlands Manor to anyone struggling to live alone and needs specialised attention.

My mother has been at Ashlands Manor Care Centre since before Christmas. She never wanted to enter a care home and was very reluctant and unrealistic. She has been made welcome, made new friends amongst the other residents. Been encouraged to join activities and received exceptional care. She is still
struggling to adjust and becomes very confused at times. We are able to relax, trusting that she is being so nicely cared for. She looks well-groomed and always dressed nicely. Very dignified care.

Mother has been at Ashlands for 4 months short of 6 years. She has recently been very poorly following a fall and a short stay in hospital. Since she returned to the care home the staff have been fantastic. They kept me advised on a daily basis by email of my mother's condition, which was most welcome
as I was abroad for two weeks. They have also installed a new bed as she now struggles with mobility.
Her care for the past 5 years has been excellent and I would recommend New Care to anyone looking for a first-class care home.

I have been very impressed with the surroundings at Ashlands and the level of care Mum has received. The staff are lovely and Mum is happy and settled. The food looks amazing and the daily activities are great. Mum especially loves the trips out. Mum has undergone cancer treatment at the Christie and
Ashlands and was able to deal with the aftermath of treatment days.

Everyone is very caring and kind which makes it really easy for mum and myself. Staff are capable and confident proactively giving care and attention and making sure mum (who is very independent) doesn't have to do more than she should and that she is comfortable at all times. Mum suffers from dementia
and has days when she is less cognitive. With the caring approach of the staff Mum relaxes. Staff encourage and approach Mum with a positive, unflappable and sense of humour. This skill in handling Mum in whatever situation arises (which is not easy) is always in a caring and professional manner.

Absolutely the best care home in Greater Manchester, not just Trafford. My Dad is so comfortable and happy here, a far cry from prior experiences. The staff, no matter their role are empathetic, helpful, and responsive to Dad's complex needs and I would recommend them to others without hesitation.

My Aunt has been a resident at Ashlands for 8 months. I have found the standard of care to be exceptional. The kind, patient, and loving care she has received whilst being there has been most reassuring. It has been an added bonus for me to know that she is in a safe environment with attentive staff
on hand to deal with anything that may arise. From the quality and variety of food (which is excellent!) to the clean well-decorated bedrooms (which can be made into your own personal space with little mementos from home). Not forgetting the wonderful well-being staff, the variety of entertainment and trips provided to stimulate and entertain the residents are amazing. Ashlands comes as a complete package! Well done, long may it continue!

My mother stayed at Ashlands Nursing Home in Sale for just over two months at the beginning of 2024. During her stay, she received very poor treatment. Although my mother was in palliative care, she was still able to communicate very well. She was located on the second floor, under nursing care. A short
time into her stay, my sister entered the room while a staff member was changing my mother. She overheard the Team Leader, telling my mother to "shut up." This incident left my sister distraught and was later confirmed by my mother. I reported this incident the next day and also informed senior management. I was disgusted to find out that the Team Leader was still working at Ashlands Manor despite this behaviour. There is a total lack of communication and very poor management at Ashlands Manor, primarily due to the manager, who seems to be preoccupied with her maintenance man, who drives her wherever she wants.
Reply from Dawn Collett, Commissioning Director at Ashlands Manor Care HomeFirstly please accept my condolences, I appreciate this must be a difficult time for you. I am extremely disappointed that you have had a negative experience during the short time your mother stayed with us. I can confirm the situation you mentioned in your review was fully investigated and the appropriate action was taken. My colleague who investigated this did speak to you and explained she was unable to share the outcome of the investigation due to GDPR. Our aim is to provide the best possible care to those we support, and it is something we take very seriously. Once again, we are very sorry that you feel the experience did not meet your expectations.

We have been very pleased with our overall experience of Ashlands. We wanted a purpose-built care home with plenty of staff and a welcoming atmosphere. The ensuite rooms are a very good size and well-appointed. The outside looks ideal for warmer weather. The staff are helpful and caring to all the residents.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.761)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.761) out of 10 for Ashlands Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 40 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.761 for Ashlands Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (393 Excellents x 5) + (71 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (8 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 477 Ratings = 4.761
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashlands Manor Care Home is based on 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 57 registered maximum number of service users is 11.4, which has been reached with 39 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

Hello, my name is Octavia, and I’m delighted to introduce myself as the newly promoted Home Manager at Ashlands Manor Care Centre. I began my journey in healthcare back in 2000 as a student nurse, and since qualifying, I’ve had the opportunity to work in a variety of clinical settings, including Intensive Care, medical and surgical wards, primary care, and corporate health. Six years ago, I moved into health and social care—and I haven’t looked back since. Working in a care home environment has been incredibly rewarding, and it’s where I’ve truly found my passion. I have a strong interest in end-of-life care and dementia support, and I find deep fulfilment in helping residents live with dignity, comfort, and connection. Before joining New Care, I held roles as a Unit Manager and also acted as Deputy Manager, which gave me valuable experience in leading care teams and maintaining high-quality care standards. When I discovered New Care, I immediately felt aligned with their values and vision. Their commitment to person-centred care, delivered in beautifully designed and engaging environments, is something I’m proud to be part of. Ashlands Manor is a truly special place, and I feel honoured to lead such a dedicated and compassionate team. In my new role as Home Manager, I remain committed to supporting both residents and staff, fostering a culture of respect, kindness, and excellence. I look forward to continuing this journey and ensuring that Ashlands remains a place our residents are proud to call home.

Job Title: Head of Residential

I began working within the care industry when I was 18. I started off as a care assistant in a residential care home after looking after my mum. Over the years I have progressed up to team leader, in home trainer and now working as the head of residential care here at Ashlands. During this time, I have worked with a variety of people from all walks of life. Developing my skills along the way. I have a particular passion for dementia and person-centred care. I particularly enjoy my Job here at Ashland's as it allows me to bring together the skills I have learnt while continuing to develop and provide person centred care to our residents.

Job Title: Head of Dementia Joined: 2021

I joined Newcare in November 2021 as a Team Leader and have worked in the care sector over 15 years in various roles starting as a bank care assistant and moving up to Deputy Manager in my previous job. I am passionate about providing person centred care to the residents we support. My greatest reward in care is working with people living with Dementia. I love working in care as it is fulfilling in making a difference in the residents’ lives, we support and to ensure that they are happy and cared for. I hold a Level 3 in Health and Social Care and a NVQ Level 4 Diploma in Leadership and Management. Since joining Newcare it was evident that the company put the residents first as stated in its Philosophy and vision. I am happy to be a part of Ashlands team and will continue to ensure our residents are cared for to the high standard whilst upholding the company's values.

Job Title: Wellbeing Coordinator

I am relatively new to care, with this being my first job within the sector, having worked in the Hospitality and Leisure industry for the last ten years, and gaining my degree in Events Management and Marketing, then working in management at various pubs, restaurants, golf clubs and arenas along the way. I ultimately had a real desire to work within the healthcare sector and was very keen to bring my wide knowledge and experience from my previous roles into this job. I love my job and being able to create a lasting impact on people and being able to make some fantastic new memories with our precious residents and reminisce on the old ones too.
