All staff extremely caring & attentive! Looking forwards to her next visit!
Many thanks Donna
My 93 year old mother came to South lodge for respite following a hip replacement. Despite the initial reservation about going to SL she did settle after a few days. The place is delightful and all the staff so kind and professional. The management team are fantastic giving reassurance to mums family as well as mum during her stay. The grounds are perfect for a respite setting. I would highly recommend South Lodge to anyone needing residential care
We look forward to meeting you all again in the future. Many thanks Donna
The staff who cared for Dad were absolutely brilliant with him and he adored them all. He was always treated with dignity and respect. On occasions when he was particularly unwell, the care and dedication shown to him were second to none.
As a family we were always greeted with a smile as we entered reception and everyone was very welcoming.
Dad was never a fan of any type of entertainment but there is plenty of excellent activities provided for anyone who is interested in taking part. However, he always loved the food !
I would not hesitate to recommend South Lodge for a family member.
We wish you all well for the future.
My father moved into South Lodge at the beginning of the year because we could no longer look after him properly. This was a difficult decision for the family but he settled in quickly and he was much happier there than we expected. The staff and facilties were really excellent and it was genuinely like a home from home. My dad and the whole family felt very relaxed and comfortable, it was always a pleasure to visit. He was treated with respect, dignity and real care, he enjoyed the company of the staff and the other residents, and benefitted from the varied activities available. Sadly he became ill and passed away but he could not have been in a better place for end of life care, with familar surroundings and staff who looked after him (and us) with great professionalism but also love right to the end. South Lodge has changed my perception of care homes, it is a wonderful place and I recommend it very highly. Thank you to everyone there.
Thank you so much Alice, we truly appreciate you taking the time to add a review for us. When your Dad came to us he very quicky found his favourite spot looking out of the window in reception and engaged other residents with his stories and ease of conversation. We are so pleased to hear South...
My dear Dad was discharged from hospital into a home and it was a very difficult time for him and the family. After a recommendation, Donna the manager, came to visit Dad and was just brilliant with him. She treated him with kindness, dignity and respect and quickly understood his needs and why a move into the right home was important. After visiting 13 different homes, we knew instantly South Lodge was right for Dad. Not just because of Donna's incredible professionalism and expertise but because the food was amazing and the space itself was cosy and clean whilst being spacious and offering different options to relax. We knew Dad wouldn't always want to be with others or alone in his room but he had options and as a family we could go downstairs to different lounges and have our own family time. All staff were wonderful and we fully trusted them. He passed away at the home and the end of life care was exceptional. They did everything possible to look after us all. Forever thankful.
Thank you Jane for such a lovely review. I remember that day very well in that tiny room, I was just pleased we could help your Dad and you as his family to provide a better environment and a ultimately a home. It was always lovely to see his devoted girls visiting Dad and enjoying quality time with him. Thank you on behalf of us all here at South Lodge.
The care and attention by the care team is second to none, my mum had a wonderful 6 years and was extremely happy.
Staff said she was always laughing & joking with them. Gardening was her great love in life so the gardens made it very much home from home with easy accces every day. We highly recommend South Lodge in caring for your loved one's.
The Manager runs monthly meetings with Residents Families for updates and feed back.
Thank you All
Thank you Ruth, for such a lovely review. We are so glad we could be a part of your Mum's life story, we loved her infectious personality and miss her around the home. The best part of providing care here at South Lodge, is the people we meet and part we get to play in giving them the care they...
My dad stayed at South Lodge for a 2 week respite break over Christmas 2025.
I can't recommend South Lodge enough starting from my initial contact. Donna the care home manager came to visit my dad at home before his stay and was so good with him.
All of the staff during his stay were so friendly and all of my family that visited my dad during his stay soon very highly of the staff.
I would definitely recommend South Lodge and would definitely use again when we require respite care.
We look forward to welcoming Dad back again, the next time you take sometime away.
She absolutely loves being there! The care and love she receives from all the staff is of the highest level.
The home is very clean, and the staff are always smiling! Staff turnover is very low/non-existent, which is a testament to how happy they are!
The food is of excellent quality, and there is always plenty of it.
The residents are encouraged to attend the many activities that are laid on for them. These are always well attended by residents, and the team that runs these are fantastic.
My family is so happy that we chose South Lodge for our Mother. It's the least she deserves!
Thank you so much for your lovely review, we truly appreciate it. We are so glad Mum has settled in her new home and has become part of our South Lodge family. It is always great to hear that you as family and your Mum are so appreciative of care and live style we provide here at South Lodge. The team work very hard to ensure everyone feels loved and supported.
My father recently passed away at South Lodge, and I would like to give my sincerest thanks to all of the staff. Their professionalism, kindness, warmth and humanity were a perfect example of how a care home should be run. The food was excellent, the gardens were well maintained, the staff are extremely attentive to all the residents needs, and the activities were daily, and to a high standard. Thank you to everyone at South Lodge, from the manager to the cleaners, for making sure the last year of my father's life was rich, rewarding and worry free. We as a family will never forget your kindness.

The food and drink laid on by the management and served by the hard working staff was wonderful, all under a beautiful warm Sunday afternoon.

Management and carers alike were lovely. The home is clean, welcoming, friendly and meals are lovely, well presented and requests all catered for.
Carers were kind, response times to buzzers vary dependant upon busy times. But as far as my mum was concerned care was just as Mum wished for.
My only criticism was that water drainage in her en-suite after showering flooded and hopefully sorted for the next resident.
Some amazing activities for the residents and afternoon singers.
Lovely gardens and nice sunny areas to sit in.
Relatives always made welcome and a fully stocked tea bar provides drinks and snacks for residents and relatives.
The price reflects the high standards, however it was only marginally more expensive than a grotty place Mum was unfortunate to stay in prior.
Hi Chris, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a kind and detailed review. We're so pleased your mum felt cared for during both of her respite stays, especially during what must have been a very difficult time after her home flooded twice.Your lovely comments about our team, meals,...
Both our parents spent the end of their lives at South Lodge, at slightly different times and for different reasons. Our Mum moved there once my Dad could not longer care for her. Although she wasn't able to join in any of the life/activities or communicate by this point, she was calm, smiley and obviously comfortable. My Dad visited regularly and the staff were always so lovely and welcoming and would pop in for a chat, which really helped his spirits during a time of grieving once he could no longer care for her himself. Latterly, only 8 months after Mum's passing, we took Dad there when he was nearing end of life with cancer and far from it being upsetting, he loved the attention and kindness of all the staff who knew him from being such a regular visitor. He was looked after with such dignity and kindness and we couldn't have wished for a better end in the last few months of illness. If we ever had any concerns, we were heard and the team reacted and we are so very grateful to the
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a moving and heartfelt review.
