My father is a resident at South Lodge, the staff here are fantastic. They really take care of the patients and always keep you informed on what's happening, set in beautiful surroundings as well. Highly recommend!

Thank you so much for your feedback. Your father is a much-loved resident here at South Lodge. His jokes and sense of humour keep us all smiling that is for sure. He has recently been helping us prepare for our evening at socially distanced proms which you can see on our Facebook group. He really enjoyed it and had a good old fashioned sing-song with us too.

Having come to South Lodge after three weeks in the hospital where we were treated for Coronavirus, we were given a very warm welcome and this welcome and kindness we experienced from all the staff who looked after us and made sure we were happy.

The menus were a delight and we feel our fastest recovery was aided by our experience here.

My mum has been a resident at South Lodge since last March, and while my comments relate to the current month, Mum's care throughout has been excellent. During these very trying times - including Leicester's additional lock-down - the staff that I have dealt with have been very helpful and accommodating, with nothing being too much trouble. My mum (91 years), who was under-weight when she first arrived at the home, and slightly anaemic, has since regained her normal weight and is back to full health. The staff set up numerous Skype calls between Mum and I during lockdown - vital for Mum's well-being - and despite being sad at losing her former home, she is happy to be at South Lodge. I've also been impressed by how innovative staff have been, while they have not been able to allow third parties on site. Lost track of how many Facebook clips I've seen of Mum in a singalong, doing a quiz, or waving Union Jack flags on the VE Day anniversary. Anyway, top marks to South Lodge!

Thank you for your kind words. Your mum has settled in so well here at South Lodge and always joins in with any activities we have. Most recently we presented her with a certificate of thank you for going the extra mile for Carers Weeks. This was an event whereby her laps of the gardens were...

A fantastic care home to which my mother could not have been made more welcome. The staff and facilities are fantastic and they have managed her transition into the home with real care and concern. It's ideal.

My parents were admitted together after a lengthy stay in hospital after contracting and then recovering from Covid 19. Their initial respite care included a period of quarantining in a twin-bedroomed flat at South Lodge. During this period the communication between South Lodge and other family members was excellent and my parents found their quarters spacious and just what they needed. Most important of all was the care they received from South Lodge's staff members - always jolly and so helpful in looking after all my parents' needs. I think my impression of South Lodge can be best summed up by my dad, who phoned me just after arriving to say "this place is like a luxury hotel with nurses". In fact, he keeps calling it a 'hotel' - a slip of the tongue maybe, but sums up his feelings and just how much South Lodge has all helped in my mother and father's continued recovery from Covid.

Mum was extremely happy in South Lodge. She had a lovely apartment and the carers were lovely. Any issues we had were dealt with quickly and we were always treated with care and courtesy. The freedom to treat the home as Mum's home meant that we could have family get-togethers in the way that we always did. This was very important to Mum, who had always been the head of our family.

During Mum’s illness, we were treated with kindness and compassion. During the current pandemic, it has been really difficult for everyone in a care home setting. However, we were allowed to spend as much time as possible with Mum. I can’t fault the care that Mum had or the support given to her family.

The care my mother received from everyone was second to none. They went over and above to deliver the individual care my mother needed. I was confident and trusted the care she received. They kept the family involved with all aspects of care and decisions. There was nothing I was unhappy with. The home is kept extremely clean and tidy and has excellent facilities. All staff are remarkable and show kindness and compassion. Everyone is very professional. I would highly recommend this care home. My mother’s main carers couldn’t do enough to help her and support her. I was most impressed with the care she received during the 16 months she lived there for. Thank you so much.

My father was a resident at South Lodge for 15 months and enjoyed every moment of his time there. He had his own apartment; living room, bathroom and bedroom and essentially lived like a king. We often discussed with dad about 'how lucky he was' to be able to live at South Lodge and I truly mean that.
Food was important to him, and so he quickly took to having everything handed to him on a plate - literally and his expanding waistline was a testimony to the work of the fabulous catering team there.
The carers were all wonderful too and, even though dad could be quite stubborn and curmudgeonly at times, managed to see through these outer layers to build a lovely caring relationship with him.

This care and support gave me and my sisters great comfort, knowing he was being fed well and cared for in every way possible and for that, we thank you all.

Staff are very caring. My mum is safe and well cared for. It is very important to remind people about the activities. Everybody misses the lobby when it had sofas as it was much more friendly - why was it changed?

It would be nice to have regular updates of how she is and how much care she needs and receives eg: prompts for personal hygiene.

It would be easy to talk about the many wonderful features of South Lodge Care Home, and no doubt you could get this from their website, but what’s hard to quantify is the unconditional love and care the staff have for their residents. I can’t remember when I last saw Mum so happy. A 5-star environment with the passion and commitment to match.

The other indicator is cleanliness. Unlike some care facilities, South Lodge has clean lines and an air of freshness that starts at the front door and continues throughout rooms and common areas. It’s warm, inviting and fosters a sense of comfort and belonging.

Mum was only in for respite care, but in the short time she was there, she found she had another family and another home from home.

In our case, respite care for a limited period, satisfactory. For a long period, or permanently, we would require a larger bedroom. We have no complaints about the service or the attention from the staff. Everyone we come into contact with were at great pains to please and make us welcome.

My 4th respite stay at South Lodge since Christmas 2016. Still the same very high standard of care and comfort, plus excellent meals. As an 82-year-old with a long-standing heart condition, no immediate family and some limitations in mobility. I have found South Lodge to be a reassuring, friendly place for my respite stays throughout.

Everything is very positive about the place. Two very small negatives because I would expect perfection. Please may I suggest that staff, when they put my mother to bed, make sure they take her hearing aids out and put them safe. Also, I brought a small table for her (she had two in the room similar). One has gone missing.

The staff are always friendly very helpful. Residents always seem happy even while the refurbishments were happening. The accommodation feels more like a hotel which is better than feeling like your in a residential home.
