Continuity of care is important and when staff turnover is low the care on each floor works very well and family members are assured that the staff know their relative and that messages are relayed within the team.
The rooms - mini apartments - are excellent well equipped and furnished and can be made to feel very homely. My mum always loved her room! The staff are kind and caring and the meals good with a choice of dining options. There is a welcoming atmosphere created by staff (including non-carers) investing in residents' wellbeing. There is a very good attempt to offer diverse activities that will appeal. I recommend SL to anyone looking for a care solution.
Thank you for sharing such heartfelt feedback about your mother's time at South Lodge. We are truly honored to have been a part of her journey and to have provided her with a safe, comfortable, and caring environment. It means so much to us that she felt at home and well looked after during her...
The Client Liaison Manager spent a considerable amount of time with us showing us around and making us feel very comfortable. He was very kind and considerate and he is clearly in the right job as he really cares about what he does.
The home is lovely and it really has a home feeling, with beautiful surroundings inside and out. The staff were all very attentive to residents and it felt like a really nice place to be.
Thanks again to the staff, your kindness and professionalism make you an ambassador for South Lodge.
Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review of your visit to South Lodge. We understand that choosing the right home can be a big decision, and we're delighted to hear that your experience with myself and the team helped put you at ease. Our goal is always to create a warm,...
The food was excellent and Mum had a wide variety of tasty food as a vegetarian.
The laundry system was amazing. Mum didn't want to engage with the social aspects but there were always lots of residents seated in the reception bistro-style area who seemed very happy.
For anyone looking for respite care, I would thoroughly recommend SL. It is clearly a home that has the residents at the heart of its care. Thank you to one and all.
Thank you so much for your kind words and wonderful review. It was truly a pleasure to meet you and your family We're delighted to hear that you had a positive experience at South Lodge. We're passionate about providing the best possible care and creating a welcoming atmosphere, so feedback like...
The entire team at South Lodge are exceptional. They went out of their way to ensure my 91-year-old dad settled in well. The home is really beautiful and the activities are amazing. Thank you to the whole team.
Many thanks for your kind words. It was a pleasure getting to know your family and your father. Wishing you all the best for the future.
My mum and sister are both residents at South Lodge, and the standard of care they have received has been exemplary. Everything from the facilities provided, the standard of the accommodation and the catering is to a very high standard; not to mention the carers and staff who go above and beyond to cater for their every need in terms of daily care. The programme of entertainment and activities is fantastic, and as a family, we feel that our loved ones are safe and happy in such wonderful surroundings. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking to find residential care for loved ones!
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our home, it is very much appreciated. It has been a pleasure getting to know your family and I will ensure to pass on your kind words to the staff.
The staff show compassion and understanding, endless patience which enables my relatives to have some period of relaxation knowing that my relative is safe, secure and being looked after as if I was doing it myself.
Due to lack of attention and poor communication skills my loved one was allowed to walk out and wander the streets until he fell, sustained a head injury and was in hospital for a week. Staff didn’t even notice he was missing, very poor standards of care and then not willing to take responsibility for the incident, care was fragmented and the resident lost weight whilst under their care.
We are very sorry that this incident occurred and we have offered our apologies to the resident and to his family. We reported this incident to the Local Authority's Adult Protection Team and will consider any recommendations they may make. We have since revised our procedures and have increased...
The staff at South Lodge have been great at caring for my mother and helping her to settle in as a resident. Mum feels 'at home' with her own furniture and pictures. She's joining in with activities and enjoying a healthy diet. Everyone has been very supportive of the family, responding to queries and adjusting Mum's care to suit her needs.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our home, it is very much appreciated. It has been a pleasure getting to know your mum and I will ensure to pass on your kind words to the staff.
My mother has moved to South Lodge from another care home. As a result, she is much less anxious and considerably happier, which is down to the excellent care provided by staff here. Despite being in the more advanced stage of dementia, she has been included in activities and enjoys being taken to church. In addition, her speech and mobility have improved and she is very fond of the carers.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our care home; your feedback is very much appreciated. We are delighted to hear that your mother has settled in with us so well and will pass on your wonderful feedback to the team.
After a bad experience at a previous care home, South Lodge managed our mother brilliantly. From the initial introduction, the professionalism of the manager, assessor and both senior care staff and support staff all have provided a very positive experience. Well done to the team, you're a credit to both residents and their families who feel included in the decision-making for our loved ones, providing a safe and caring environment in which positive memories can be made with out mother.
Thank you for taking the time to review our care home, your feedback is truly appreciated. We are delighted that you and your family chose us and that we have met your expectations while supporting your mother. It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know your mother who will bring a smile to our faces on a daily basis. I will be sure to pass your feedback on to the rest of the team
My family were desperate to find respite for my Mother following an unpleasant experience at a different home. I popped in to enquire, fully expecting to have to book an appointment, but I was seen within minutes by Kerstin the customer services manager. Mum needed a profile bed and this was achieved very swiftly. They were able to accommodate my Mum within 5 days! And after 2 respite stays, she has now become a permanent resident earlier this month. She is very happy there. The care is excellent (there was just a small issue with one carer and this was dealt with and resolved quickly). All the staff are so friendly and the place has such a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
They provide a wide range of activities. Very clean and high-quality interior decor.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our care home, your feedback is very much appreciated and it has been a pleasure to welcome your mum and yourself to our South Lodge community. Your continued support has been greatly appreciated and as always if you require any further support you need only ask.
When I ask a question of the management, they always reply in a clear and helpful way the same day.
Yes, it is expensive, but in this case, I feel you get what you pay for, and it is worth the extra compared with cheaper homes.
Thank you so much for your review of our home; your feedback is appreciated. It has been a pleasure having your mum here with us, and we are all so glad that she has decided to make this her home. The staff will continue to work with you and Mum to make her stay as enjoyable as possible.
My parents had three weeks of respite at South Lodge Care Home recently whilst I was out of the country. This gave myself and other family members the confidence that they were safe and well cared for. Their accommodation was beautiful, and all the staff did an amazing job looking after their needs and keeping them happy. It was a huge step for my parents to agree to go into respite as they cherish their independence. The experience was definitely a positive one, as they are both happy to have another stay in the future. Finally, not forgetting the kitchen staff... My parents loved the food and were well-fed during their stay! Thank you, South Lodge.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review South Lodge; it has been our pleasure to support your parents and look forward to welcoming them back soon.
South Lodge is a competent, caring, friendly and well-run care home. The staff are always knowledgable and helpful and provide an excellent service. The rooms have really good facilities. I would highly recommend them.

It is always a pleasure to visit South Lodge. It is the most warm and most friendly care home I have visited. The staff are all very attentive and interact with the residents, which makes for a very happy environment. I would be more than happy for my loved ones to be in this very special care home.
Thank you for taking the time to review South Lodge Care Home in Leicester and for your amazing 5-star rating. Your feedback is truly invaluable to us and our staff team. We look forward to seeing you on your next visit. Best wishes.
Mum was a reluctant resident as a care home was never part of her plans, but she agreed to four weeks of respite whilst she got back on her feet and then home.
I could see during this time how much she was settling in and thriving, and after three weeks, she said she loved it and didn't think she wanted to leave. So we are now just about at the three months mark, and I don't think we could have asked for anything more.
Across the board, the staff are professional, kind and caring. The little unpushy encouragement to get Mum involved with the activities has made a world of difference to her confidence.
Visiting Mum now about enjoying time with her rather than having to do 'house stuff',
I know Mum is happy and safe, which is a huge relief; thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to review South Lodge Care Home in Leicester. We are delighted that your mum enjoyed her respite stay with us so much and that she overcame her reticence about living in a care home and decided to become a permanent member of our loving care community, giving you and...
The accommodation is clean, homely and well designed with a variety of communal areas to sit in. Mum is able to have small treasured bits of furniture in her flat making it feels like her own. The little kitchenette and en suite shower room provide an opportunity for retaining aspects of independence. She will certainly enjoy the garden when the weather is warmer!
The daily activities are varied, and the team works hard to invite residents to join in. Mum particularly enjoys her trips out to the neighbouring Church. The care team is always willing to chat through any concerns and show kindness and care for Mum's needs. Thank you, South Lodge!
Thank you for taking the time to review South Lodge Care Home in Leicester. We are delighted to hear how happy you are with the care your mum has received from our dedicated staff team since being a part of our loving care community, giving you and your family peace of mind. It is nice to hear that...
The care and attention from all the staff and management were second to none.
Very high standards, friendly, reassuring, kind and caring. My sister and I were very impressed with everything South Lodge had to offer.
Thank you all so much again for looking after dad. It was a huge relief to know he was being cared for in a very positive way.
Thank you for taking the time to review South Lodge Care Home in Leicester and for your amazing 5-star rating. It was a true pleasure to care for your father on his two-week respite stay with us, giving you and your family the peace of mind that you deserve. We would be happy to welcome him back at any time should the need arise. Your feedback is gratefully received. Best wishes.
They have monitored Mum's health and liaised with us and the doctor.
Her room is nice, the garden is lovely, and there are good shared facilities. The meals provided are nutritious, and Mum is encouraged to eat.
Thank you for reviewing South Lodge Care Home in Leicester. It is a true pleasure to care for your mother and to have her as part of our loving care community. We are delighted to hear how well she has settled into her new home. Our staff team goes above the standards daily to meet individual care...
Mum initially moved here for a few weeks of respite care in November 2021. Within a matter of days, she'd decided that she wanted to stay and so she moved in permanently. She had lived on her own for the last nine years, and the combination of loneliness and the onset of vascular dementia had meant she was spending more and more time being confused and stressed out. Moving to South Lodge made a huge welcome and changed this; she quickly made a number of friends (both residents and staff) and began taking part in the range of activities provided. She also made daily use of the garden, which she loved. Sadly, vascular dementia got the better of her last weekend, and the shock of this hit the staff just as hard as it hit us. I could not have asked for a better place for Mum to spend her last few months. The staff are wonderful and extended the same kindness to myself and my brother when we came to clear her stuff, as they had to my mum throughout her stay. We are eternally grateful.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a heartwarming review. I will pass on your kind comments to our wonderful team, whom I know will find comfort in reading them. It is in reading comments like this that it reaffirms all the efforts put in by our team and the kind caring nature of them all. Your mum will be sadly missed by everyone that knew her. Best wishes.
