My father moved in here in June last year. Despite his fear of being in a care home he settled in very quickly and initially joined in the wide variety of activities that the staff provide. As his dementia progressed he lashed out a few times at people, nevertheless the staff’s attitude was always “what
is upsetting him?” and “what helps?”. This is indicative of the total focus that staff have on improving their residents lives, day to day. I have been deeply impressed by the care, compassion and professionalism that every member of staff have shown my father, and other residents.
He passed away recently and, despite this being a sad time, going to the home to collect his belongings was made easier by the kindness of staff and other relatives who knew my dad.

My mother has been in Acacia Lodge for over 3 years and I have been delighted with the care she has received. The facilities are excellent. All the staff know my mother really well and make sure that she is very well cared for. If they have any concerns I am contacted promptly. I would certainly recommend
this care home to others. Thank you for everything.

The home has looked after my Mum well over the last two years. They don't hesitate to contact a doctor or district Nurse if they think they are needed. Overall it is a good care home. Just a pity there is a big turnover of care staff. They have lost some really good care staff. In such a job, I think
13 hours is far too long a day.

In the almost 3 years that my mother-in-law has lived at Acacia Lodge her physical and mental wellbeing has improved enormously. She feels safe and supported and the staff treat her with love and respect. We always have fun when we visit and there is always plenty going on for the residents to participate
in. It would be difficult to find a better care home in my view.

As always, although Avery Healthcare Group provides the infrastructure in terms of the lovely building and facilities, the "heart" of this home are all the staff.
Everyone works extremely hard, the receptionist and admin staff, management, cleaning staff, kitchen staff, entertainment staff and carers,
they all do an excellent job. So my mum benefits from this and feels safe and cared for and has an excellent relationship with residents and staff who have become part of the family.

My mother is just so happy at Acacia. I’ve said it so many times that I was worried about putting my mother in a home but she is so happy here, always interacting and has made lots of new friends. There is constant food and snacks. I’m glad this is the place I chose for my mother's forever home.

I have never visited my granddad since he moved to Acacia as I found it very difficult but I went last week and I couldn't believe how happy my granddad was. The home is beautiful with an amazing cinema room which my granddad loves. I am so happy he is happy and settled at this beautiful home and all
the staff are very approachable and caring.

My friend has relocated to Manchester to be near her family and friends. She is so very happy here. The staff are always friendly and go out of their way to help us. Nothing is too much trouble. I know we made the right move just by the look on my friend's face when she says how happy she is. Thank
you all so much for everything you do.

Acacia Lodge is a lovely, warm, friendly and cosy home. Offering all the home comforts and beyond.
The downside is the car park which does not accommodate visitors and workers due to limited spaces which could put prospective viewers looking at the home for relatives off.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.862)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.862) out of 10 for Acacia Lodge Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.395 for Acacia Lodge Care Home - Avery Healthcare is calculated as follows: ( (84 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 119 Ratings = 4.395
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.467 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acacia Lodge Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.667
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
