I came to Acacia Rest Home after suffering a heart attack, probably due to looking after my husband for a few years. I was given a warm welcome but the staff showed me to my room and given a cup of tea.
During the following few weeks, I was introduced to various people who helped me to settle in.
I
have been very happy here but have missed my own home but I realise it was necessary for my health for me to rest.

My father has been in this care home for 5 years, both he and I are satisfied with the care and conditions. Although there is a top up fee (which I don't agree with) it's the best care home I could have put him into.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I have visited several care homes to see relatives. Each one well run and they did some activities with residents. However, they do so much at Acacia Lodge, far more than most. I was very impressed with both the variety and standard of the activities. It helps having a fairly newish building but they
even have a hairdressing salon. Well done!

My mother-in-law has been in the home since it first opened in 2010 and I cannot fault it. It is expensive but I think you have to appreciate that she gets round the clock care and you get peace of mind knowing she is very properly cared for.

Overall I am pleased with the care from all the staff at Acacia Lodge. I visit every day at different times and the care is always the same standard. The home provides good activities and entertainment which the residents and their families enjoy. When you visit you are treated as part of a little family
can relax and enjoy the visit to your family member. Nothing is too much trouble and if you have any enquiries about anything there is always someone on hand to talk to.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.862)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.862) out of 10 for Acacia Lodge Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.395 for Acacia Lodge Care Home - Avery Healthcare is calculated as follows: ( (84 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 119 Ratings = 4.395
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.467 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acacia Lodge Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.667
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
